Learning from her match with Astrid, Tanya knew that the thing that she needed was something to counter Steel pokemon. Where else to get a fire pokemon than a now dead volcano? Magma and lava are things that are associated together, so this was basically her opportunity to strengthen her team.
Not really sure what to be expecting, she walked up the mountain, getting increasingly tired as the mountain went higher. It seemed to never end, which didn't set Tanya's mind at ease. She was starting to pant, the walk up taking some energy from her. She thoght to herself how this trek had better be worth it. If she missed out on an opportunity to get a fire pokemon after reaching this height, she would be severely dissapointed.

Eventually, Tanya decided to take a little break. She didn't know how long she had been climbing up the mountain, but she was feeling tired from all the walking she had to do. Why did the Fire type pokemon have to be in such an inconvenient area? Maybe it was because of the certain conditions that were required in order for them to live. Volcanos were hot, so it would make sense that Fire pokemon would congregate around hot places. She didn't want it to be so inconvenient though.
As she was reminiscing about fire pokemon however, she heard the sound of hooves. Looking up, a lone pokemon that was bathed in flames was trotting near her. Wait, was it really going to be that easy? She thought she would have to search hard to find a pokemon, and then one just waltzed in. She didn't question it too much though.
"Dani! Come out and attack with Water Pulse!" Dani commanded, throwing her pokeball into the air and releasing her Skrelp. The sound of Tanya's voice alerted the fire pokemon and while it looked like it was about to run away, Dani sent a pulsing blast of water right at it, hitting it hard and causing it to recoil.
It wasn't finished and the pokemon looked menacingly at the pokemon that just attacked it, scratching his hooves against the floor as he started to bathe himself in bright flames. After a moment, he charged straight for Dani, the speed at which the pokemon moved taking Tanya by surprise as she had her pokedex in her hand to find out just what it was.
She winced as the attack hit Dani, causing her to slide backwards. While the attack was not very effective, it still hurt quite a bit and Tanya could see that Dani was panting a little. However, she had a look of steel in her face, still perservering from the attack and ready to fight back.
It was then that the light show started to happen. Dani started to glow brilliantly and Tanya shielded her eyes, wondering for a moment what was going on. It was only when the lights faded that Tanya realized that Dani had evolved. She let out an excited screeh, completely in awe of Dani and momentarily forgetting that she was in a battle until she heard the Ponyta cry out.
"Dani! Finish it off with Water Pulse!" She shouted with gusto. Once again, Dani shot out a pulse of water towards the Ponyta. Unable to avoid the attack, the fire pokemon collapsed onto the floor, all of its energy lost from the battle.
Quickly taking out one of the academy balls, Tanya chucked it at the Ponyta, crossing her fingers that the catch would be successful.

"Oh my god, this is so totally awesome!" Tanya exclaimed, pumping her fist in the air as she picked up the pokeball containing her new Ponyta. Not only did she get a new pokemon that was able to deal with Steel, she was also able to evolve her Skrelp into a Dragalge.
Dani floated on over towards her, now standing a few inches taller than Dani. She gave her a friendly look and nudged her pokeball. Understanding what she wanted, she put Dani back into her pokeball. She was going to have to get used to Dani's new size. She was now larger than her, the first pokemon that she owned which was able to boast such an achievement.
Completing her mission, she now realized something. She had to walk back down the mountain. Letting out a sad sigh to herself, she started to make her way downwards, hoping that the journey down was easier than the journey up.
