Personality: Meili is a girl determined to prove that she is the best that no one ever was. If someone doubts her abilities in some capacity, she will go to hell and back to prove herself. Unfortunately, this has a tendency to not think this a hundred percent through, fail, and then only find herself more angry.
Despite her rather brash attitude, Meili does have a heart. If it is made clear that Meili is being too hard, she will lighten up a little. When pushed to do so, she’ll even apologize. She is also willing to work hard for something, spending hours on end studying Pokémon battle strategies and combinations though as a result she is more or less powered on tea and coffee which might be another explanation for the less pleasant aspects of her behavior.

History: Meili suffers the consequences of having parents that have placed a little bit too much expectations of her. It wasn’t so bad at first. Just them lightly telling her that she had to do better next time. But things escalated as she advanced further in schooling and could only get average test scores as well as getting in trouble with other students, Meili’s patience for the lack of explanation (outside of a “successful life”) started to wane.
It got to a point where eventually Meili started to argue back. Meili couldn’t remember a day where she wasn’t in an argument with her parents. Thankfully, come her fourteenth birthday, she found a solution to get herself out of her parent’s educational expectations. Meili made a bet with her parents that if she excels at Gray Garden Academy in her first year there then she’ll leave the house and become a professional Trainer. If not, then her future is up to them.
With what might be the most insane bet that she’s ever taken. Meili packs her bags and head on the next boat over to Gray Garden academy.
