Crispin was surprised it took him so long to finally check this part of the island out.  The fact it gave him the chance to overlook so much of the island made it a great spot for him to decide where he'd like to explore eventually.  Although the place itself was barren and pretty unexciting.  There were at least some crevices for him to look into, and hey, maybe something for Valdis to fight while they were here.  The dog trotted along at his side, happy to be sniffing around any rock or pebble they found along the way.  Crispin chuckled, patting the blue-furred dog's head.  She may have been pretty silly, but he hoped to get her some experience in combat while they were up there.  And if he found someone to fill that last spot in his team too, then all the better.

Crispin was walking one way, not paying Valdis entirely to much attention as she trotted nearby.  It wasn't until he heard her give a few short barks, followed by a near deafening roar that he turned to see what on earth she had gotten herself into.  What he saw was a poor Cubone, running in terror as she trotted back to him, her little stub of a tail wiggling happily behind her.  He sighed, shaking his head.  "Val, wat scon I gonna do witcha.  Wat if we wanted 'im ta join our team?"  Her tail drooped as she tilted her head in confusion, listening to him.  He finally smiled, sighing again.  "'Tis alright, tha you've proobably either scared aff everythin' in ta area or let tem al' nu wha we are."  Blinking a bit at her person she yipped again, walking a bit closer this time as they continued on.

Before much longer, the trainer's ears were once again greeted with the soft barks from Valdis at his side.  This time she stayed put though, simply warning Crispin.  He looked, spotting the Pokemon a little ways away, but looking irritated by their intrusion.  Thinking for a moment, he ultimately decided against it, shaking his head.  He didn't really have any interest in having a Mankey on his team.  Looking down at the Houndour he nodded, smiling as he spoke, "Go ahead val, scare 'im aff."  Her stub of a tail wriggled behind her as she turned back to the wild Pokemon, roaring ferociously.  It's irritated look turned panicked as it changed direction and high tailed it out of there.

A low growling at his side told him Valdis had seen something else again, and Crispin scanned the area to see what it was causing her such distress.  It was easy to spot once he was looking for it, especially with the blinding way the sun hit it's metal 'feathers'.  The Skarmory sat on top a rock not too far from where they were, eyeing Valdis warily.  The canine's tail wriggled, watching her trainer cautiously out of the corner of her eye.  She wasn't going to make him upset again this time, no sirree! 

He pondered it for a second before nodding, smiling to himself.  "Nasty plot, val. Tink up somethin' ferocious and put it up in flame!"  She turned back to the Skarmory, head tilting as her body stilled.  He could almost visually see the gears turning in her head as she thought out a plan.  The Skarmory didn't hesitate like Valdis, however, and instantly took flight.  It charged at the canine, wing glowing brightly as she bashed it into the smaller Pokemon.  Valdis braced herself for it, and as the metal bird hesitated to turn back around took the opportunity to leap on it's back.  Utilizing the strength from her plot, she inhaled deeply before bathing the Skarmory in a heavy flamethrower.  

It seemed like the bird held on only by brute strength, breathing heavily and a small flame still smoldering on it'd wing.  It shook the dog off of it's back, turning to face it and give a last ditch effort to slash into her with it's beak.  Valdis yelped, jumping backwards after to get out of reach again, but the fight was already over.  The burn seemed to be the last straw for the bird, and it slumped heavily to the ground.  Crispin wasted no time in hurling a ball at it, before hurrying over to Val.  She seemed okay, though a bit wounded.  She looked up to him inquisitively, but he just smiled and patted her on the head.  "Ye did gran', Val.  Lets ge' on back an' git ye 'ealed up."  Her little nub of a tail wiggled again as he recalled the pup, not wanting to make her walk the distance back like that.  He turned, eyeing the thrown Pokeball warily.

Letting out a breath of relief, Crispin happily walked over to pick up the calm Pokeball.  With that, he had a full crew.  It felt almost surreal, having so many Pokemon after only having one Pokemon to call his own before coming to the school.  Now, however, he planned on catching even more.  He had already seen so many different Pokemon in his short stay here.  The few he had he was very close to, although he knew he needed to get them plenty more practice fighting if they were going to get any stronger.  This time he would be careful.  This time, his Pokemon would be safe and not overwhelmed.
