Don't Look Down

It was James' first time wandering around the island, and he had to have picked the worst place to go to.  This place looked over most of the island from a elevated position, which lead a queasy feeling in his stomach.  He despised heights, so he simply tried to put as much distance between the edge of what looked looked like a barren wasteland and himself.  It was quite simple to stay away from the edges, hopefully.  The worst thing that could happen would be a Pokemon charging him towards the edge, and that would be the worst thing to happen to him.  If a Pokemon did begin to charge he would simply charge towards it, that was sure to scare it off.  That's how it worked with some Pokemon he'd seen in Lumios anyway.

James walked along the area in an aimless direction, he just went where he legs took him.  Every so often he would kick a stone or two while he was bored.  Academy's Edge was really a barren wasteland, it was practically dead and lifeless, or so he thought.  James heard what sounded like squeaking, which was quite odd considering he didn't see anything about.   Coming to a stop now he looked around and about a few times, before he saw a Nidoran scurrying about.  This Nidoran was blue, which he was pretty sure meant it was a Nidoran female, since the males were purple if he was correct.  However even if it wasn't a Nidoran female he simple looked at it for a moment, before continuing on his way.

James heaved a small sigh, so far he'd found nothing of interest, only a Nidoran.  Kicking small rocks every which way he kept looking ahead, before he heard a crunch.  Believing he was simply going crazy James began to speed walk, that is until he heard another crunch.  Hastily he turned his head, to find a Druddigon was following the same path as him, or simply following him.  It didn't seem like it was going to attack, it seemed pretty friendly actually.  However James didn't quite enjoy having something like that near him, especially in this type of area.  With a goal to get away from the Druddigon he began to sprint away from it, and the ledge.  He only stopped once he was absolutely sure that it was gone.

Kicking rocks every which was James wasn't paying much attention to where the rocks where going, until he heard some small cries.  Looking every which way he tried to find the source of the crying, it only took him a few moments.  James was now face to, well, looking down and possibly crouching he would be face to face with a Larvitar.  It was about two feet, and it was darn cute.  However it was crying from the stone that he had kicked, and it didn't seem like it was in a good mood.  Surprisingly however it stopped crying, but alas, it only stopped to screech at him.  It successfully hurt his ears and lowered his defence by two!

With an intent to capture this Larvitar James released his two Pokemon, Phantump and Eevee.  "Lucifer, Will-o-Wisp!  Gabby, Bite!"  He said, before the Pokemon followed out their orders.  Gabby, the Eevee, was quite fast in attacking the Larvitar.  With fast movements she clamped her jaw upon its thigh in no time, however she didn't keep her grip on the Larvitar for very long.  In an attempt to defend itself the Larvitar used Shadow Pulse on Eevee.  A black ring formed around its body, before it broke off into bullet like entities that smashed into Gabby.  It dealt a fair bit of damage, but not before Lucifer could get a Will-o-wisp off.  Eerie balls of purple flame floated from the Phantump, before stopping at the Larvitar's body.  They would rotate around its small body, before erupting in flames around it for a few moments.

 "Gabby, use bite again!  Lucifer, Wood Hammer!"  He said, before the Pokemon followed our their orders once more.  With hasty movements Gabby got to the Larvitar first again, and before it could attack even.  She bit down upon his foot, causing the Larvitar to be enraged.  Various rocks around the Larvitar began to float in the air as it raised its arms, before pointing them towards the Eevee.  Rapidly the stones smashed against her body, causing her to let go and yelp in pain, before scurrying to James.

With an eerie green aura around Lucifer's hand he charged at the Larvitar.  Bringing his hand right down upon the Larvitar's forehead the green aura fell apart, trailing down its body which now lay upon the ground.  The flames from Will-o-Wisp burned once more around the Larvitar, before disappearing.  The Larvitar appeared to be out cold now, so James retrieved an Academy Pokeball.  With a slight toss he tossed the Pokeball at the Larvitar, in hopes of catching it.

With a small sigh of relief James watched as the ball clicked, and came to a stop.  "Very nice job you two."  He said, with a smile on his face as he talked towards the Phantump and Eevee.  "It's time to take a rest, I'm proud of you two, just remember that."  He said, before he clicked their Academy Pokeballs a few times.  With a slight spring in his step now he walked over to the now filled Pokeball.  As he picked it up he spoke aloud.  "Connor will be a good name for you, it was the name of a friend of mine."  He said, before he minimized the Pokeball.
