Can't go home again, baby (Kaitlyn)

Just to see one of them, huh? Yeah...maybe the girl had a point. Even if Volcarona had turned out to not be as rare or legendary as Kaitlyn had thought, just meeting Solaria (let alone catching her) had been a hell of an experience. Kaitlyn did also occasionally wish she could see Reshiram, but...well, it was a legendary fire dragon that some yahoos claimed had a jet engine on its back. Whether that was true or not, it sounded awesome. She could sympathize with this girl's wishes, as unlikely as they were. She wasn't sure how much she could do, having not actually run into anything of the sort yet herself, but...helping students achieve their goals was also the job of a teacher, right?
But, enough musing. Seria had asked about Kalos. "You ever ridden a Mamoswine?" Kaitlyn asked. "There's one that frequents the route between Dendemille and Anistar cities. Really friendly, and will give rides to people going through that way. Damn good thing, too, since it's near impossible to get through there some times of year with all the blizzards. Just gotta make sure you hold on, because he hits like a truck and will smash straight through anything like ice or fallen rocks blocking the path." Kaitlyn grinned unconsciously. It was clear that she had thoroughly enjoyed being thrown for a wild ride like that during her travels. "All that snow and ice comes down from Frost Cavern, better known to me as 'just how many Abomasnow live here?!'. It's also a good place to explore if you're looking for more cold weather trips after Mt. Coronet. Then, let's see...Terminus Cave was a hell of a trip too. It's an old abandoned mine, but it's full of crazy strong Pokemon and crazy people who like training there. I didn't get all the way in, but I got pretty deep, and after awhile I started feeling tremors from even deeper in." She idly picked up a rock while she talked, and hurled it out over the magma pool. She grinned again at the result, as it soared a considerable distance before finally falling in. "They ain't normal tremors either, since it's just in that area you can feel them. So you ask me, there's something really big back there making them. Maybe an overgrown Steelix or something."

Seria nodded and looked a bit hazed as she was listening intently to the stories that Kaitlyn began to share about Kalos. So there were opportunities to actually ride Pokemon like that for travel, through blizzards? That sounded really cool. Frost Cavern? Terminus Cave? Must sound like good landmarks for a good exploration or a fun trip with some likeminded friends. Heh, likeminded friends. Seria nodded and had a faint, weak smile form on her lips. "That sounds like a lot of fun," Seria nodded, rocking her feet back and forth. "I guess that gives me more of an incentive to go to Kalos, I suppose!" Seria tried to force her smile to grow a bit larger. But she was still somewhat upset.
"I'm going to see if I can find the deepest part of this Mount Magmadyne," Seria said, in an attempt to try and get herself calmer. "You mind giving me some directions? I'm going to ruminate in that little alcove, wherever it may be."

Kaitlyn nodded. "Kalos is a beautiful region. Not the best of the ones I've been to, but it's up there. Well worth the trip."
Seria looked...better at least. She was smiling, but Kaitlyn still wouldn't say she looked 'good'. Which wasn't surprising. Shit like what she was talking about didn't just go away all at once. But it seemed like she'd been able to help her student a little bit, at least. She then asked about the deepest part of the volcano. "Well, the deepest part would be straight through the magma pool. But since I hope you're not stupid enough to actually try that, the deepest accessible part would be..." She stood up, and approached what looked like a jagged, heavily shadowed part of the wall. Then, she pulled out a flashlight and shone it there, revealing a narrow passage normally hidden by (or at least, hard to see because of) the angle of the area's natural light. "Through here. There's only one path, but it's really narrow and hard to get through. Be ready to climb a bit. And don't stay too long, it gets really damn hot back there." She chuckled. "I guess you could call it my secret hideaway. That's what the sign just outside used to say, at least."

Seria fidgeted with her hands. Well, of course she wasn't going to dive into the magma pool. That would spell certain death for her, of course. Soon, Kaitlyn stood up and approached a strangely shadowed part of the wall and shone a flashlight on it. It revealed a pathway through to some other part of the volcano. Seria's teacher further explained that there was only one path through to the area, and that it got hot there very fast so it wasn't safe to stay there too long. "I don't mind having to climb... But it's your secret hideaway, huh? How long has it been, then? The sign's writing is illegible now..." Seria blinked and made her way to the jagged crack through the walls, that passage... She peered through it and dug out her own flashlight from her pack, adding more light. "I guess I must have done good to get this far, then, huh? Thanks, I suppose I'll see what's down here now myself, huh?" Seria nodded and made herself ready to traverse through the path.

"It's gotta have been fourteen years now," Kaitlyn said. Yeah...now that she'd thought about it, it was definitely during her first year. She'd spent a long time exploring the forests and the more easily traversible mountain, but even then she couldn't keep away from anything that looked daunting forever. Or even for a year. Especially not when hot springs were involved. "Back when I was a pretty shitty student and wasn't good at much but exploring. I'd been exploring the mountain looking for Pokemon, then got lost trying to head back and find the hot springs. Then I just ended up exploring for awhile longer and eventually found this place. It's not really special, just hard enough to find that I felt the need to mark it so I'd be sure to find it again. So...yeah, I guess you did do good to get here."

Fourteen years? That's gotta have been a long time indeed... Seria nodded and her foot was stuck entering the passageway, but she remained still as she paid attention to what Kaitlyn had to say. "It's all I've got to my name, really. Just a stupid little nutter with a knack for directions," Seria simply responded. "Well, I guess I'll see what's down there. I hope I didn't shock you with my being here, after all, it was a place you discovered on your own, I didn't think much of that sign at first, guess it has some significance after all. Thanks." Seria simply said as she promptly began to make her way through the passage and climbing down as instructed, following the only direction that was available. Seria would probably only be there for a short while too, probably she would have to drink from her flask a fair bit. But that was okay.
She was here to forget, after all.
