Friendly Fighting [Battle/Adriel]

Adriel could only watch in disbelief as her Remoraid was instantly taken out by a powerful Electric attack. Letting out an annoyed sigh, she recalled the fallen Remoraid "Of course it knows Thunderbolt. This is kinda ironic, actually...I had planned on having her use Charge Beam..." Well, this battle was essentially over. She only had one Pokemon left, and it was a terrible match-up against this Skrelp on multiple levels. She was definitely regretting not teaching her Petilil some better moves before sending her into a battle like this. Of course, if this Skrelp was, in fact, part Poison-type like she was assuming, then it probably wouldn't matter either way.
All Adriel knew was that she wasn't about to back down, regardless of how hopeless the battle was. Thus, the small Grass-type was sent back into battle, and Adriel called out to "Alright, Flora! Give it everything you've got! Use Mega Drain!" Thus, the Petilil fired another life-draining beam of energy at the Skrelp. She knew it wasn't going to do much damage, but it would be better than simply giving up and not doing anything. Sure, she could use not wanting her Pokemon to be needlessly hurt as a justification, and it would probably. But, even if she did feel that way, her pride refused to let her just leave a fight unfinished like that. Maybe she was just stubborn.

Astrid gave a sheepish giggle. "Sorry, sorry. Not a bad thought, but switching in right there was kinda dangerous." Surprisingly, the Remoraid had gone down in a single attack. She must've gotten lucky with that hit. But, that meant that Astrid was left with only one opposing Pokemon, and it was the one she'd sent Venalgue in for in the first place. This battle was already won. Still, she did admire that Adriel was willing to see it through to the end. And to her credit, the life-draining beam did manage to injure Venalgue. Just...nowhere near enough to finish it off.
"Alright, I'm not going to draw this one out. Venalgue, Sludge Wave!" The Skrelp spun in place, stirring up a wave of poisoned water and letting it spill onto the field, where it flowed relentlessly towards the Petilil. That would most likely be the finisher, but Astrid didn't celebrate just yet. Not until she was certain.

Aaand there it was. Adriel could only watch as the Petilil was decimated by the blast of toxic waste. That and take a few steps back so that she didn't get hit by it as well. That stuff did not look like it would be pleasant to come into direct contact with. It still amazed her what kind of punishment Pokemon in general were capable of taking, despite being fully aware of the fact that they were inherently much tougher than humans. How else would they be able to take attacks Fire Blast or Thunder and only be rendered unconscious? Even the weakest of Pokemon were insanely durable; at least, compared to humans.
Either way, she let out a sigh, smiling as she returned her Petilil. It was painfully obvious that she wasn't ready for battle, and she was going to have to make it up to her for that. Either way, she looked to Astrid "Welp...guess I owe you a ride back to the Bolt Dorm...or, if there's anywhere else you wanna go, I can take you there instead~" Admittedly, despite her loss, she couldn't even be upset. After all, getting to ride around on the back of a large golem with a cute girl was a pretty awesome consolation prize.

"I guess so," Astrid said, sliding off of Quadraxis's head. She turned around and recalled all of her Pokemon, then ran over to Adriel. "Ooh, I'm so excited, I've always wanted to ride a giant robot. Pokemon or otherwise." If it hadn't already been obvious by this point that underneath the ex-superstar musician, Astrid was a bit (or more than a bit) of a geek, it probably was by now. What with her fawning over giant robots and all. The charm of riding alongside a cute girl like Adriel wasn't lost on her, mind. In fact, a giant robot and a cute girl? That sounded like a perfect combination.
"Hey, I'm curious," Astrid said after her (mostly private, this time) geek-out moment. "You're offering this to me since I won. So if you beat me, what were you going to ask for?"

Amusingly, Adriel had, at some point during the battle, decided on what she would wish for. Though, now that she thought about it (and after Astrid asked her about it), she couldn't help but blush a bit. Not only was what she decided on insanely cliched, but it was a tad embarrassing. Which was especially ironic coming from the girl who would constantly flirt with girls she had just met. She wasn't even sure why she suddenly felt so awkward, but, now that she had been put on the spot, she didn't have much choice but to come out and say it.
"...I...err...I was going to ask you to go on a date with me...pretty silly, right?"

To Astrid's surprise, Adriel suddenly got awkward and blushy when she asked the question. Adriel's response was a bit less surprising, although she tried to qualify it by suggesting that it was pretty silly. Astrid smiled. "Nah, it's not that silly. Or...well, I guess it's a little silly, since I'd be willing to give you that whether you won or not." Astrid's smile turned to a grin as she gave her answer. Why yes, she did just agree to the possibility of a date with no trace of embarrassment. It helped that there were plenty of other things to be embarrassed about at the moment (like her obvious fascination with giant robots) and she was pretty much over that for the moment. Around Adriel at least. "So, are you still up for something like that?"

Argh. What was it about this girl? It seemed like every time Adriel tried to flirt with her, Astrid would somehow turn things around so that Adriel was the one who got all flustered and awkward. Adriel's blush brightened a bit when Astrid comment that she would have been willing to go out with her regardless. Not that she minded, of course, but she definitely wasn't expecting to hear her say that. But wait. What did this mean? Did Astrid actually like her? Or was she just playing along? Wait...did she like Astrid? In all honesty, Adriel hadn't given it much thought. Sure, she liked being around Astrid, but was that really all there was to it?
Gah. All of this was making her head hurt. Astrid had asked if Adriel still wanted to go out, to which she let out a sigh and smiled lightly "Sure...if you really don't mind, then...would you like to go out with me?"

Ahh, this was going surprisingly well. Astrid could clearly tell the effect she'd just had on Adriel. Adriel couldn't tell if it was out of genuine interest in her, or just Adriel having her flirting turned back around at her. But either way, it was really cute, so Astrid was going to call it good. She was, of course, completely serious. She wasn't yet sure if she genuinely liked Adriel, or if what she was feeling was just casual interest that would fade in time. But a date would be a good way to start figuring out both of their feelings. So, naturally, there was no reason to turn her down. "I'd be more than happy to," Astrid answered, blushing faintly as she gave her answer.

Oh God, she actually said "yes". Adriel wasn't sure what to think. Usually, when she asked them out, she was usually half-joking, and it was just to see how flustered they would get. Usually, they'd either turn her down, or agree to it but not realize that she was actually asking them out. Either way, for one way or another, the date never actually happened. But there was literally no way for Astrid to have interpreted this, so...it was actually happening. She had a date. "I...um...I don't suppose dinner and a movie would be too boring, would it? Actually, I guess that's a bit cliched, huh?"

"Something I learned from working in entertainment, things get to be cliche because they work well," Astrid said. Dinner and a movie, huh? Yeah, that was pretty standard, but if the food and the movie were right, there wasn't a problem in the world with it. Did that mean this was actually happening, then? That they actually had a date? It had to, at this point. "It doesn't have to be boring, either. It just needs to be a good, action-packed movie. Maybe a good sci-fi, with lots of space battles, and...ooh! I wonder if that new Space Voyager is still playing. I still haven't gone to see it yet." She giggled, a bit sheepishly. "My nerd side is showing again, isn't it?"
