Is the past truely best forgotten? [Seria]

After having headed out in order to heal up the Ralts and to pay a visit to the library back at the Mana dorm, Chris found himself heading right back into the ruins with a borrowed book in hand and Dusk by his side, he'd became quite curious about all the writing on the walls, to the point that he truly wanted to know what it actually meant. Upon reaching and entering the ruins, Chris found himself heading much deeper into the ruins until he found a good concentration of the writing, which actually seemed as if it would actually say something of use.
Sending out Skorupi, Midnight and Sol, Chris spoke somewhat calmly. "I want you three to keep your eyes open for any hostile Pokémon... and if a female trainer drops by, I want you to let me know right away, and please don't preemptively attack her" Chris ordered his three Pokémon, which nodded and set up some form of perimeter, which sol watching the way Chris had came in, Skorupi hiding amongst the shadows and Midnight watching the way that led further into the ruins. Having Dusk assist where possible, Chris began using the book to try and translate the writing, having looked through the book before, it had explanations about the language the writing was in, so of course Chris had thought it would be perfect to use it to try and translate. After a while, he began to pick up on certain parts, yet none of it made much sense or appeared to be conclusive as of just yet.

Right on! Captured that little kitty! Seria praised herself in her mind as she kneeled down to Antenora's level, who looked visibly less mad now that the object of her frustrations was gone, and took to nuzzling and grazing the young girl's hand. Smiling warmly, Seria gave Antenora a gentle snug before wondering out loud if Antenora wished to be returned to the Pokeball. Nodding, the Deerling appeared to be too exhausted from that engagement to continue walking, so Seria nodded and returned her to her Pokeball. Seria nodded and started humming to herself and continued casually walking through the ruins.
She took great notice of the Unown writings on the wall, though for some of them still really didn't make much sense to her. Eventually, Seria peered into the darkness of the ruins and saw a familiar figure, accompanied by three Pokemon. Shrugging, Seria kept walking and eventually it was only minutes later when the figure was more clear and visible in the relatively poor lighting conditions that she realized she had bumped into Chris and his Pokemon.
Seria simply stood in plain sight of him and his Pokemon, like a deer in headlights. She then tilted her head and then waved at him. "Helloooo!"

Having been concentrating on trying to work out the meaning of the writing while using the book to try and translate it, Chris actually hadn't been aware of the fact that Seria had been heading towards him, however, Sol had picked up on the incoming presence, so she found herself alerting Chris via psychic, primarily she used it to mimic telepathy In order to actually alert him... sure just making him levitate would work, but then that would just anger him. Now being aware that someone was coming, Chris put the book away and turned to the direction he had came from, which Dusk noticed as well.
As Seria came into view and spoke, Chris smiled faintly, signaling for his Pokémon to stand down with a motion of his hand. "Hello again Seria, I see you decided to come down and pay the ruins a visit... how is it so far?" Chris spoke as a response to Seria's call, his tone was a bit kinder than it was back in the cafeteria, the reason for that being that she actually didn't seem to have any problem with him what so ever, unlike Oleg anyway.

Seria continued to stare at Chris, but he asked her how the ruins was so far. "Actually, the ruins here are pretty interesting," Seria smiled warmly. "I saw the writings on the wall and on the blocks. Did you know they're actually Pokemon? 'Unown' are Pokemon shaped kinda like the letters of the alphabet." she explained out of the blue, and soon she noticed the book that Chris was holding. "And oh, is that a book you're holding? Hehe, I guess you were trying to read the writing on the wall too? Some of it's pretty tricky, I must admit, I haven't memorized all the meanings of the letters yet. But I'm studying it still!"
It was pretty hard to get Seria out of her knowledge bomb dropping once it started. Oh well, Seria probably wouldn't be able to realize if she was boring Chris or not with her constant yammering.

Unowns... well, I guess that makes sense, due to how they're shaped from what Chris had researched, however he'd never really seen one or these Unown writings, helps explain why he wasn't able to understand any of it at the time. "Well, that's good to hear, nice to see you're finding it interesting... and yeah it is interesting, I will admit I'm not the type who researches history non stop, but if I see something I find interesting, I always find myself trying to study it" Chris replied to Seria, smiling back at her, which Dusk picked up on, causing her to smile as well.
Remembering what he had said to Seria back in the cafeteria, to do with talking about what happened, guess since she's here there isn't much harm in speaking about it is there? "So... since your here... and I did say we could speak of it here... are you still curious as to what happened? Chris asked, his tone turning slightly more serious as he did so.

Chris answered a lot more pleasantly than he did the last time Seria met him, maybe it was because of the circumstances being more favourable this time. He mentioned that he wasn't really the kind who researched this kind of thing non-stop, but if that there was something interesting, he would look into it. Which was fair enough for Seria, she could see why people wouldn't like the same things she did. She was constantly seen as some sort of a weirdo for it. Soon enough, the Sneasel that Chris had out who Seria recalled named 'Dusk' smiled in time with Chris, leading the girl to believe that the two must be quite close.
Eventually, Chris asked Seria if she was still curious. "Yes, I would like to hear your story, if you do not mind sharing it. Even if ruins may not be the most appropriate place to do so!"

Still curious then, well, that's not entirely a bad thing, if someone understands where Chris is coming from with the whole façade and other such things, that could help in way... plus... it'd be a refreshing change, having a human friend to actually talk to instead of to Pokémon. "I honestly don't mind sharing it, and the ruins are certainly a better place than the cafeteria for talking, not much privacy back there..." Chris responded, his small growing somewhat smaller, as if to signify it wasn't exactly a happy past... then again, most of the time the past isn't the greatest.
"where to begin... where to begin... I will admit it's a long story, but it also explains why Pokémon being around has such an affect on my personality... so it's not all sad in a sense" Chris spoke, honestly not being all that sure where to begin, it does span seven years after all... and remembering the bad times isn't always all that appealing, which in a way should easily be understandable.

Chris nodded, responding by saying that he didn't mind talking about his past as long as it was in a quiet place with more privacy. Seria didn't really get what made these ruins that much different than the cafeteria aside from the obvious lack of people. Yet, it seemed clear to Seria at this point that Chris had a seemingly bad past. He seemed to almost frown a little, and he wasn't even entirely sure on where to start - exclaiming that it was, in fact, a bit of a long story. However, it would shed some light as to why Chris is a lot more comfortable around Pokemon than around people.
"Well... Take your time, it's not like I'm in a rush or anything. You don't need to worry about me. I don't like to yell at people very much." Seria blinked and nodded, continuing her innocent, naive streak in the middle of a bunch of dark ruins.

don't rush eh... not like I was planning to, and to think earlier Chris was saying he wasn't the best at history, yet he's the one who's going to be giving the history lession... irony... anyway, guess he'd better start at the beginning... which means recalling everything, even Agate. "Guess I should give some background information first to avoid things getting confusing... originally, I was born in Agate, in the Orre region... although at the age of five me and my parents moved to Lilycove over in Hoenn... that's where everything took place pretty much. My parents, they figured it'd be better for me to get to know people around my age... although I, not having been the most social person, kind of held back for four years... when I finally got round to trying to be social and making friends, everything turned south. For some reason, pretty much everyone seemed to hate me, it started off as just a few insults here and there, but as years went by... it just got worse and worse... it wasn't just insults... but physical things as well... you see this..." Chris began to explain, clearly not wanting to beat around the bush or delay it any longer... he pointed to the tattoo on his neck with his off hand.
"this isn't to look cool or anything... it's to cover up the physical scars... eventually... I just found myself running away... that's where things got a bit more... interesting though..." Chris continued, stopping now for a moment to let what he had just said sink in, and to give Seria a chance to ask any questions that were passing through her mind.

Seria nodded and paid close attention to Chris' introduction. It turns out that he was a socially awkward kinda kid at first, and then it really did turn out he was a victim of bullying. And even so, he showed off a tattoo on his neck. Apparently, he had become a runaway as well in order to deal and cope with his situation. "I see... That's rough. So at the end of the day, you were bullied a lot. I dun wanna make any judgments, but I don't think they just dislike you for no reason. I was never really bullied as badly as you, but lotsa people thought I was weird because of my fixation on legendary Pokemon. Maybe people thought you were scary or something. Bad people like to gang up on those who they feel are weak or are intimidating towards them," Seria nodded, trying to come up with a theory of her own.
"That said though, I am curious. You became a runaway, and that's where things got more interesting? Do go on. I promise I won't laugh or anything."

Theories on why? those are possible, but Chris never really was an intimidating person back when he was a child, the one about being weak is possible though, even more with the whole socially awkward situation... anyway, time to continue. "the weak one is possible to be completely honest... anyway, continueing on... I kind of heard noise coming from within the tree's on the route I had ran to, upon investigating... I found it to be an injured eevee... a lost one at that... despite having no clue on how to help it, I found myself spending quite a while helping it recover... which in a way is miracle in and of itself, given the eevee couldn't even walk yet it was able to recover in merely a few hours" Chris continued, chuckling faintly to himself as he remembered the old times, the time he spent with that eevee and it's family... good times... good times...
"after it'd recovered somewhat, I began helping the eevee in the form of finding it's family, one of a family of eeveelutions... seeing how they reacted, it was quite clear they were all happy to see the eevee again, and they were all grateful for the help... although at that point, It was far too late to head back on home... so the eeveelutions... well... they kind of guided me to where they rest, I ended up spending the night sleeping alongside the family, next to a small fire the flareon kicked up... despite no one else even seeming to care... they truly did... they gave me the determination to come here... I still miss them... I honestly wish they could have came along, but a student with an entire family of eeveelutions as his pokemon would be a bit much to suggest wouldn't it... and how many people can say they managed to pull something like that off when they were a kid?" Chris continued, chuckling faintly at the end.

Seria noddled and observed the area around her while paying attention to Chris. He explained how he found an injured Pokemon who was also lost, so he decided to help the Pokemon - an Eevee - recover, and then maybe find its family. Well, Chris never specified if the Eevee was male or female. In any case, Seria smiled as she learned that Chris was able to help the Eevee find their family again, but it was very late, so the boy couldn't go back home after he felt better again. So, the Eevee and the family helped Chris rest with them. The Flareon that was there even made a fire too. He seemed proud of his experience. Then again, Seria could see where people could get annoyed by that kind of behavior.
Maybe they were jealous, or maybe they found the way Chris delivered himself as a 'special snowflake' who didn't like hanging around other humans quite disturbing. "I see. That explains why you feel a certain bond with Pokemon. You helped one to recover, and found their family. That's very kind of you. But don't you think you should try to get along with other people, as well? I know, Pokemon are wonderful creatures. They're amazing - I would know, I study about the Legendary ones all the time - but sometimes, you have to consider that you can't always be a loner when we're all so young. Gotta live a little, you know?"

sensible logic I suppose... try to get used to other people... fair enough that one should try, but still, better safe than sorry, Chris wouldn't exactly want a repeat of what happened throughout his childhood... that's the whole point of the façade, to avoid doing what caused it in the first place, or at least, what he thought caused it. "You wouldn't be the first to tell me to try and get used to other people... but... I just don't want the past to repeat itself is all... sure, some would say, the past is best forgotten when it's something like what happened... but... sometimes remembering the past and adapting to it does have it's uses... I will admit, it does seem nice, having an actual human to speak to instead of Pokémon all the time, but as I said before... a lot of the time the Pokémon are the only ones who truly seem to care..." Chris responded.

"Hey, hey, don't be such a negative Nancy. I mean, I asked about how you were, and here I am trying to see if I can help. If you don't think I care, then I don't gots any reason to keep trying to help~!" Seria flailed as she pointed out the obvious. "It's great that Pokemon are kind and caring to you, but if you never grow from your past experiences, you're not gonna get any better..." the girl then sighed and turned away from Chris, now reverting her attentions back to the writing on the ruins, and also looking with interest at Chris' Pokemon. A Skorupi, a Murkrow, and a Ralts. A motley crew, one would suggest.
The Ralts in particular looked interesting to Seria, though she wondered idly about the circumstances of its capture. I wonder how this little cutey was captured... She started looking at it with a warm smile.

Well.. that didn't go over well... honestly he had meant no offense, although now that he thought about it, that part about only Pokémon caring could be found somewhat harsh. "s... sorry... I meant no offense... I... should have thought before speaking there... and yeah... I know... but... it's not as easy as one would think when the past has an impact which is far more permanent than merely a psychological one... I know I have to try..." Chris apologized in a clearly sincere tone... he really needs to think before saying something like that next time... otherwise what is stopping her from just leaving?
