Steel Me [Battle vs. Astrid Sherinian]

[Seria Floria]

Seria clenched her fists, looking more determined and serious than ever before, she wanted to try and do her best so she could take a win this time. She did some minor training off the side and was able to increase Aquaelie's strength, helping him to evolve into the Pokemon Marill. She went into the academy battle dome once more, a renewed perspective on battling that was all thanks to Tanya's pep talk. She still was thinking about catching new Pokemon, but she hadn't decided yet, and so she decided she would try her luck with what she had now. She was alone this time, none of her Pokemon were out yet. She wandered into the arena once more and waited for an opponent. Hopefully, the person she faced next would take her seriously and fight her as an equal, not as food or as just "another training partner."

Astrid wandered into the battle dome again, looking around idly. The last time she'd been up for a battle, she'd managed to find an opponent just by waiting around for a bit. Maybe that would work again. If not, she could look around the commons for anyone who looked willing. That turned out to be unnecessary though, as no sooner had she stepped into an arena than she saw someone waiting around for a battle.

"Hey," Astrid said, giving the girl a bright smile. "I hope you're ready for a battle. When trainers' eyes meet and all that." Nice and to the point. Not too theatrical, but she could save that for when the battle actually began. She readied the pokeballs holding her Pokemon. All six of them, although she'd of course only go with however many her opponent wanted to use. "My name's Astrid, by the way. Could I have yours before we begin?"

Seria nodded as her opponent came up to the battle stage. Unfortunately, it was somebody from the Bolt Dorm again. Fortunately, it wasn't Oleg. Seria didn't really have a very high opinion of him anymore after last battle's fiasco. The girl smiled and introduced herself as Astrid. "Hello, Astrid. I'm Seria. It's nice to meet you. I'm going to use four Pokemon. I don't have six yet." Seria simply said as she saw Astrid ready her six Pokeballs. Seria tensed up a little bit (Seria knew that her team was mostly vulnerable to Pokemon hailing from the Bolt dorm) but tried to fight away those feelings, as she took a Pokeball and called out for her first Pokemon, the Minccino.

"Well, I'll begin by sending out Carrie!" Seria said as the grey rodent stepped up to the plate and readied herself for battle.

Seria, huh? A cute name for a cute opponent. But that was something Astrid could focus on later. She wanted to use four Pokemon, something that Astrid would keep in mind going in. There was no need to set four aside, just to keep track of who all she'd already used. "Fine by me," Astrid said, her voice escalating in volume to her 'announcer voice' from her battle with Tanya. "But I won't go easy on you just because you don't have a full team. I'll make this the most dazzling and intense four-on-four battle you've ever seen!" She paused. This is the point where applause would come, if they had an audience. And surprisingly, they did. Astrid turned to the stands to find Tanya up there, and gave her a wave.

And speaking of dazzling, Seria's first choice provided a wonderful opportunity for that. Astrid watched a Minccino materialize on the field and ready herself. "Not a bad first choice," Astrid said. "Now, show them the way to paradise! Xanadu!" She called out her Elgyem's name for the whole stadium to hear, then threw Xanadu's ball upwards. The Elgyem materialized from within, drifting down onto the battlefield and fixing the Minccino with its gleaming gaze. "Start us off with a show! Hidden Power!"

Orbs of light gathered around Xanadu's fingers, shifting in appropriately similar colors as they came together. Once enough of them had formed, she fired them all off, in a stream of red, gold, and green balls of light at the Minccino.

Seria blinked as her opponent had intense confidence, and simply her mere presence elicited applause. She didn't really recognize the name either, so was she actually battling against some celebrity? Regardless, she turned her head and soon also saw an encouraging sight. Seria would save that for later though. She was coming into this as the underdog, clearly, being as she was basically a nobody compared to this flashy, confident girl. Astrid sent out what appeared to be some sort of alien-like Pokemon. An Elgyem? Seria hadn't seen those in ages. Regardless, the creature began to gather energy, releasing orbs of light which circled around her. Lots of flashy colors, befitting of the girl's flashy nature.

Carrie couldn't really see it coming, instead being pelted by an assortment of colored balls, causing her to get knocked about the area. After the attack faded, the Mincinno weakly brought herself up and shook off the damage. It hurt a lot, but she could handle one more attack. "Dang... That's something alright... Er, Carrie, do your best, use your Knock Off on that Elgyem!" Seria pointed at the alien Pokemon as the chinchilla Pokemon began rushing forward, ready to fiercely slap down the Pokemon with her tail. If that Xanadu or whatever, had an item, it would be knocked off! And if it didn't, well... Nuts.

Astrid punched her fist into the air as she scored a solid hit on the Minccino. It wasn't out, though, and soon managed to pick itself back up. Then, Astrid reacted with the appropriate look of shock as it counterattacked with Knock Off. She hadn't anticipated that the little rodent Pokemon would have anything so effective against Xanadu. Much less one that would deprive her of an item. Oh wait, Xanadu wasn't actually holding anything. Astrid hadn't gotten that far yet. Oh well. Still, the Minccino had scored a solid hit, and had to be dealt with right now. "Alright, let's try and bring this home! Hidden Power again!" Astrid called out.

Again, Xanadu gathered colored lights around herself, creating a dazzling display that would hopefully spell the end for the Minccino. As the gathering light began to flash more consistently in red, gold, and green, Astrid felt the passing urge to break into song. But that urge was quickly extinguished as the attack went off, again shooting a barrage of glowing orbs at the Minccino.

The Elgyem had taken some damage from the attack, but it was definitely still standing. The Minccino had tried hard, but it certainly wasn't enough. Still, the Hidden Power which Astrid called her Pokemon to do again seemed to seal the deal, as the bright orbs and lights all came crashing down on the poor chinchilla, causing her to get knocked around for a bit before falling into the ground, groaning and sort of twitching in place. She didn't get back up after that one. Grimacing, Seria recalled her Minccino and sighed. She got out another Pokeball and threw it out. "Alright, show this one who's boss! Antenora!" Seria called out as the Sawsbuck stood proud once more in the battlefield, looking calmly at the Elgyem.

"Now, Antenora, use your Megahorn!" Seria pointed at the Elgyem as Antenora began to charge quickly at her, preparing her great antlers to try and charge and knock the opponent up high into the air with ferocity.

"Yes!" Astrid exclaimed, watching the Minccino fall. But, she only had a moment to celebrate before Seria released another Pokemon and...finished Xanadu off in a single hit. "Oh...oh wow, that's a really strong Pokemon you've got there," Astrid said. "I'm really starting to get excited now. It seems like you've got some strength and experience on your side, so it's only fair for me to respond in kind!" She recalled Xanadu, gently returning the pokeball to its place, then spun on the spot as she pulled out her second. Throwing it out onto the field, she called out "Show the the beauty of technology! Quadraxis!"

The ball landed in the arena, and a Metang emerged from it. It materialized on the ground, but soon after it stood itself up on its two arms, then pushed itself into the air. There, it floated, waiting for orders. "Let's strike back! Ice Punch!" Astrid called. Quadraxis pulled one of its arms back, chambering it for the punch. Ice crystals formed around the metal spikes on the end, gathering until a freezing mist formed around it. Then, the Metang lunged forward, throwing a straight punch at the Sawsbuck.

Seria watched as the Elgyem was socked by the great antlers of the Sawsbuck, and she was soon finished off promptly. Astrid seemed to recognize that Seria had a tiny bit of experience under her belt. To be fair, it was mostly because Seria had been losing a lot. But regardless, as Tanya told her, she had to face her losses positively instead of sulking over them. Astrid then sent out a blue metallic Pokemon with two arms - a Metang. It floated after propelling itself into the air with its arms, and soon Astrid commanded it to charge forward and punched the Sawsbuck with a freezing punch, which caused the deer to hiss and whinge from the pain.

It was very cold, but the Sawsbuck shook itself and tried to warm itself up with more action, though she wasn't sure if she could handle another attack, maybe it might have. "It's a Steel type, but don't get disheartened! Ram into it with Megahorn again!" Seria called out as the Sawsbuck nodded and galloped forth once more, preparing to ram into the Metang and make it victim to the same treatment as the Elgyem.

Astrid again pumped her fist as Quadraxis scored a solid hit against the Sawsbuck. Unfortunately, it proved to be pretty sturdy, and managed to return with an equally solid hit. Fortunately, Quadraxis was pretty sturdy too, and showed no outward signs of pain from the attack. Instead, the only sign that it had taken a strong hit at all was that it was knocked to the ground by the attack, and had to push itself back into the air again. But once it did, it was clearly still raring to go. It punched its arms a couple times, waiting for its next command. "Ice Punch again!" Astrid called out. Quadraxis gathered more ice and freezing air around its arms, then shot forward to drive one spiked arm at the Sawsbuck again.

The Metang handled the blow rather well of course, given the buffer from the Steel typing, and its reasonably high defenses. It was starting to get evident that Seria needed a way to handle Steel-types, something she didn't have at the moment. The Metang was commanded to throw another ice punch, and so it did, charging at Antenora once more and preparing to sock her again with a freezing punch. It stung once more, but Antenora still stood, after weakly shaking and shuddering. It probably could withstand another attack. The deer Pokemon trotted forward a bit, waiting for a command. "Antenora, hold, steady, and go again with Megahorn!" Seria called out, she knew this Bug-type attack was the only thing capable of doing a significant amount of damage to the steel robotic Pokemon.

The Deer began charging forward again, mustering energy in itself to keep on going. The antlers were strong, and another solid hit should be enough to weaken the Metang significantly, though Seria had a feeling it would still be up for the count.

The Sawsbuck withstood even the second blow. It was now clearly hurting from the successive blows, but still had enough strength left to stay in the fight and attack again. Astrid braced herself, hoping that the deer Pokemon's attacks wouldn't be enough to overcome Quadraxis's strong defenses. Fortunately, they continued to hold, and while Quadraxis was now considerably damaged and having trouble continuing to float, it was still capable of moving and fighting. In fact, if its insistence in continuing to move its arms in punching motions was any indication, it wouldn't accept anything less.

"Alright, we're still in this!" Astrid exclaimed. "Who will stand, who will fall? The next blow will decide this round!" Well, actually, Astrid didn't know that, but a little confidence was always good. "Quadraxis, make it count! Ice Punch!" Astrid called out. Gathering ice and freezing air around its arms once again, Quadraxis chambered one arm and threw it forward in what would hopefully be the final blow.

Seria knew that the Metang would still stand after the attack, but fortunately Antenora still was able to deal considerable amounts of damages to the Metang. With a third ice punch, Antenora couldn't take the punishment anymore, and was promptly smacked down by the blue robot thinger. Seria wordlessly recalled her Sawsbuck, but she soon sighed and resigned to the fact she may have to expend more resources to take down the Steel-type Pokemon. "Go, Aquaelie!" Seria called out as she sent out her Marill, which had evolved from Azurill, she probably forgot to tell Tanya about that minor detail. Regardless, the rotund blue rodent looked eager to get some revenge on the Metang.

"Aquaelie, use your Waterfall attack on the Metang!" Seria pointed forward as the blue mouse charged forward, with gusto, spitting out furious torrents of water in front of him before using the leverage to try and uppercut the Metang.

Perseverance was a good thing to have, especially in the face of adversity. But unfortunately for Quadraxis, it would only take it so far. The built up damage from the Sawsbuck's attacks took its toll, leaving Quadraxis open to be finished off by the next Pokemon. The Metang collapsed to the ground in the wake of the Marill's torrential attack, going inert. "Quadraxis is down! Sending in reinforcements!" Astrid said in a lighthearted tone, recalling the Metang. She whispered "Great job out there," to the now occupied Pokeball in her hand, then reached for another one. Her hand rested on Magnate's for a moment, but she decided against it. Sure, Magnate would be able to handle the Marill just fine, but it would also probably be overkill. Besides, she wanted to save her best for the finale. This girl still had one more Pokemon in reserve, after all.

So instead, she settled on her Clefairy's ball. "From the stars above, to take the world by storm! I choose you, Lunatic!" Astrid called out, throwing Lunatic's ball on the field. The Clefairy emerged from it, dropping onto the ground. She smiled and waved innocently, but Astrid wasn't fooled. She was clearly plotting something. That just left the task of getting her plots and Astrid's plans for the battle to align. "Moonblast!" Astrid called out. Lunatic's eyes gleamed, and several moonbeams fell from the sky to damage the Marill with their light.

Seria watched as the Metang finally fell, heaving a sigh of relief. The next Pokemon Astrid would throw out would be a Clefairy, another Fairy-type Pokemon, as it was recently discovered to have this other typing when 'Fairy-type' was discovered. The Clefairy seemed to be plotting something with her smile and innocent waving, but Seria couldn't notice it. Aquaelie, on the other hand... Regardless, a salvo of moonbeams fell from the sky as the Clefairy initiated her Moonblast attack, making the Marill flop about a bit before plodding away for a moment. He quickly picked himself back up and tried to wind his stubby arms up for a punch.

"Don't overdo it, Aquaelie! Still, try and flinch that Clefairy with your Waterfall!" Seria commanded assertively as the Marill excitedly charged forward again, spitting out water which he attempted to surf on, winding up for another aquatic uppercut attack on the Clefairy.
