Seria's comments on the cuteness of Annie's Swinub brought a smile to the white-haired girl's face, and she found herself answering honestly. "His name is Zlatan." Feeling somewhat obliged to clarify, since all her Pokémon had deliberately meaningful names, she explained, "It means 'golden' in the language my parents speak." She made a vague gesture towards the laid-back Swinub's golden-brown fur, hoping that she didn't sound too odd.
Zlatan himself whuffled and began exploring Annie's lap (as if there were anything to explore). His Trainer watched him carefully, ready to catch him if anything went wrong, though she did not forget that Seria was there for conversation.

Seria smiled, seeing Annie quite pleased about the compliments. She answered with a name, Zlatan, apparently it meant 'golden' in the language her parents spoke. The Swinub wasn't golden nor did he evolve into anything golden, but perhaps there was a reason for it after all. Seria could ask about it, but decided not to for now. Instead, she simply nodded. "That's interesting. What language did your parents speak, then?" Seria asked politely as she began to look at the Swinub again.
Zlatan seemed to be interested in shuffling around on Annie's lap, as if exploring it, though there wasn't much to see or do on it, obviously. Annie was watching him too with some sort of careful eagle-eye, making sure he wouldn't fall off or that nothing particularly bad would happen.

Seria was asking hard questions now. What language did they speak? Annie started to answer, then frowned. "I don't know its name. It was always just how we spoke at home," she admitted. She didn't know the name of the language, but she was very fond of its sounds, hence her choices in naming all her Pokémon. "I suppose that must be strange to you?"
Truthfully, there were many things about Annie's upbringing which, she was beginning to realize, must have been strange to all the people around her. Rather than think too hard about it, she put out a hand to keep Zlatan from crawling off her knee, and ran her fingers through the ice pig's long, cushy fur.

Seria blinked as Annie frowned, saying that she didn't know the language's name. That struck Seria as rather strange, but at the end of the day dismissed it and decided that it probably must have been an old language. "Well, on the contrary, I don't think it's weird, I mean, it's curious to be sure, but at the end of the day, it could just mean the language you spoke was really old and you never really got to learn what it was called," Seria shrugged, looking at Zlatan the cute little swine being stroked by Annie.
"I think that, it's interesting to learn new things. I try not to think of things I'm not familiar with as 'strange' or 'weird.' I believe that's a wrong approach to it. Having an open mind would be the best thing." Seria said, smiling and still taking occasional glances at Zlatan. "Mmm, he's the cutest thing, isn't he?" Seria said, pointing out the ice pig.
