Oleg frowned his brown at Sapphira, who had seemingly let out a rather disgusted sound while passing him before shrugging. He then listened to the teacher lecture, smirking a bit at her remark to the boy scout idea. He liked this teacher, her sense of humor showing even while teaching. And then she trailed off back to being professional. Another trait he could appericiate in a teacher as he then once more listened to the end of the lecture, making some notes.
He then pondered a bit when the teacher asked if they had any questions. For once he had one. "Do you have any idea on what pokemon would be the best to help you survive in the wild and to help you find your way out?"

Well, at least the map along with a compass was a good option. Someone suggested a Boy Scout and a Xtransciever which weren't bad options either which would be a good thing if you had a friend that knows their way around a place. The teacher did explain that there were no right or wrong answers and that she explained why those answers might be right or wrong. She didn't have any questions to ask, so she mostly stayed quiet until time for the next lesson. Missy stayed by her side while looking at the Pokemon around her and actually found the company of other Pokemon to be interesting. She figured that in some places, there would most likely be fog where you can't see and that a compass might tell you where to go in case of that. She was aware that most places with fog had ghosts that scare anybody off and some dangers lurking around the corner. So, she just sat while the others would ask their questions to the teacher.

They were getting so much information thrown at them that Benji found himself scribbling his notes quite messily just to keep up. He'd definitely have to rewrite these later if he ever hoped in studying them. Kaitlyn pretty much said every flaw of their answers which he expected, but at least she wasn't as harsh as Alvis which he was slightly glad of. Benji planned to be a trainer that would explore every region possible, so all of these teachings would really come in handy in the future. He knew he'd be out in the wilderness for probably days at a time, so this was something he had to pay attention to. When she asked if they had any questions he thought for a moment, tapping his pen against his chin. Raising his hand slightly he spoke. "In terms of surviving out in the wild for days at a time, what are other important items you'll need to make it and stay safe?"

Raising his eyebrow at the mention of Xtransceiver it might be obvious to some that James had no clue what it was. All he knew so far was that it had to do with, Rangers? Probably something to communicate with Park Rangers or something of the sort. Pushing aside his confusion about the mention of the weird device the blond haired boy simply turned back to what the the teacher had to say. It was all kinda, simple information really. Don't assume this and that won't happen, plan for the worse, and so on and so forth. She went on talking for a little bit before she asked for questions from students. Some student asked what Pokemon what would help you best, and he simply thought about what the teacher would answer with. She would probably say it would depend on the surroundings. In a forest? Have a big flying Pokemon to get an overview of the area and where you should go. There a river? Have a big water Pokemon swim you down it if you aint got no raft of some sort.

Aki sat there listening to the teacher and the other students speak. He wasn't sure how to take the teacher. Akihito was half paying attention anyway. He wasnt too into the class to begin with. Drago sat and ccontinued to watch the other Pokémon around the class. Seeing a couple kids walk in late. One tripped over a desk and just apologized and sat down. When the teacher was done explaining what the each suggestions that each of them made she asked if they had any question. He thought for a few seconds and didn't have any at that moment. He sat there trying not fall asleep.

Lilith nodded her head at the teacher's words, as she started to jolt down everything that Kaitlyn was currently lecturing them about. Similar to some of her classmates, Lilith would have that a compass would have been one of the most important tools to bring along with her. So far, everything that Kaitlyn was lecturing about, Lilith didn't have an issue with keeping up nor comprehending the lesson. It was quite pleasing to hear Kaitlyn state that she would be teaching them about how to correctly read a map. Lilith was quite good at a lot of things, but reading maps weren't one of them. Therefore, this class could prove to become quite useful for her and her future adventures around the island.

Amanda nodded thoughtfully as the teacher spoke, quickly withdrawing a pad to jot down a few quick notes over what had been said. A list of important survival tools could be useful, and she made a mental reminder to procure a few select of those tools for her next foray into the wilderness.
A flask, a map, a compass... they were all fairly easily obtainable things at that, something Amanda was pleased with. One of her less than stellar habits was an overworked purse. What with pens, paper, books, games, water, trainer items, a phone, socks, shoes, bells, whistles, and a lampshade always present.
That... didn't sound right. She shook her head, looking over to see what Seria thought of the class. She herself had no real questions to ask of the teacher.

In all honestly, Aile was pretty happy that the teacher didn't really take much notice of his tardiness, though it made him wonder how much she really would take notice of. It was something he didn't know, and was probably bound to find out soon enough. However, he was slightly relaxed with her somewhat loud, initial seemingly laid back attitude, as Aile cared not for the teachers who were quiet and monotone. He'd have no choice to really listen, though, he took the time to start writing out his notes on the question he had seemingly missed.
I'm guessing by the various kinds of answers she was responding to, I'd have to guess this was a what if.. scenario, assuming we got lost or something, he thought, as he began writing furiously about all the things he would prefer to have with him at all times. Then she had asked if anyone had any questions, and he was worried about what to ask; she never said there weren't any stupid questions, and Aile figured anything he might ask about the surviving in the wild would probably be answered soon enough, so he just kept to himself, patting the attaching Totodile on the head before placing him on his lap.
Though, aside from the classroom introduction, he wondered what they, as a class, were going to do next; would they go ahead and head outside, or just finish up the first day in here?

Kaitlyn began to drill the rest of the class on explanations on most of the answers provided by the rest of the students. Most of this struck Seria as rather common sense. After all, Seria also knew the differences between most of these things. Well, on a rudimentary level, anyway. She was still most familiar with a topological map, having been forced to do some orienteering training when she was young (her parents told her she needed experience in reading a map and doing other things before she would be able to follow them on explorations). Kaitlyn brought up Mt. Coronet, and this put a smile on Seria's face. A rather large one. Eventually, there came a point when Kaitlyn asked if the other people had a question. Seria actually did have a question - she was here after all to further her understanding of effective backpacking and wilderness survival.
"I remember this one time, miss, my parents and I went hiking on Mount Coronet! That was certainly a learning experience. We didn't really get too high up, to be honest. It made me kind of wonder about the differences between packing light and packing lots. Miss, how would you say we would determine how we would prepare before a trip? Does it depend on the conditions of the place we are going to?" Seria asked.

After the teacher’s rather unprofessional outburst, Sapphira would halt with the joke and get to notes, while Jacques would curl up on the desk next to him, the Sandile settling in for a nap rather quickly as the teacher droned on. As she explained why there was a flaw in anything anyone suggested, being that it was a question without a real answer, Sapphira would suppress a sigh and wish she got on with it. Really she could have skipped that whole part and just gone into the lesson.
Internally he’d cross his fingers and hope no one would ask a question, just so they could get a move on and get out of here. But noooooo, Inspector Clouseau in Mana Dorm over there needed to ask something she would have had to explain during the course of the class anyway. Which started a Nature Dormer off about family vacation and then asking how much to pack. “Well you’d pack what you’d need for where you’re going, isn’t that just common sense? Why do you need to even ask?” He hissed out loud. At this point it hadn’t even registered that his inner musing just became outer ones, he had caught his reflection in the ugly looking Bolt Dormer’s glasses, and was a bit preoccupied by just how fabulous he looked.

Astrid grinned. Her answer was a good one, apparently. Well, all of them were good, according to Kaitlyn, but hers got one of the better responses. Then, she ran through all the other responses and pointed out the flaws in each. Which made sense, if there was one perfect answer then there wouldn't have been so many responses in the first place. Hers in particular carried the problem of not always getting a signal. Although, the only time Astrid remembered actually being completely unable to find a signal was while flying or out over the ocean. Would that really be more of an issue while exploring?
Once the floor was opened for questions, Astrid racked her brain to think if she had any. Most of what she might have asked, people quickly beat her to saying. That just left something that was sheer curiosity rather than anything informative. "What would you take? Going by the same scenario you gave us?"

Amidst all the scribbling of notes, there were a few expressions of people that looked lost. Or, at least, struggling to get everything down. Kaitlyn frowned. Had she thrown too much at them at once? There had been a decent number of answers to go through, although in the future she figured she could stand to pace herself better. Hopefully, it would all become easier when there was more 'doing' than talking.
First classes sucked.
There were questions, though, and she took them and answered them in turn, trying to be as concise as possible. First, to the blond Bolt boy in the glasses. "One that can fly," she answered. "You think I'm joking, but if you're focused on finding your way back, nothing beats just flying over the woods and skipping any obstacles. Plus, it's easier to see where you're going with nothing in your way."
Next, a Mana Dorm boy with a less simple question. "That's something I'll get to in more detail when we do camping -- yes, you will be camping -- but in simple terms, food, water, and something to keep yourself warm. Preferably including a change of clothes and a sleeping bag. And a way to store it all, especially the food. The last thing you want is to have a wild Ursaring getting into your pack and eating all your food. Other than that and everything the rest of the class has mentioned, some basic survival tools help. A survival knife, some rope, a mess kit, and a way to start fires." That...wasn't exactly as short of an answer as she was aiming for. Nor was it quite as thorough as she wanted, but hopefully it would satisfy the boy until she could get into more detail in a later class.
Third, a Nature dorm girl who'd seemed pretty enthusiastic about her lesson so far. She first launched into a story about her own experiences, but thankfully managed to get to the point before Kaitlyn had to tell her to. How to determine what to bring on a trip? Then, a pretty boy interjected his own smartass comment before Kaitlyn could answer. "Oi, don't be an ass. It's a fair question," Kaitlyn said, before turning her attention back to the girl. "Yes, it depends on the conditions, but you also want to be prepared for any emergencies. Don't just assume because it's not supposed to rain that you won't need a raincoat, for instance. Other than that, it should be pretty self-explanatory. Pack warm for cold weather, pack plenty of food when it's going to be in short supply, and so on. As for light versus lots, if you're backpacking then you should keep in mind that you'll be carrying everything you'll pack for a good few miles, at least. If not, then you can get away with packing more."
And finally, one more question from a Bolt girl with twintails, turning the scenario she'd posed to the class back on her. Fine, she could play that game. "Well, since someone already said 'Boy Scout', one of my fellow backpackers back home is a former combat medic. I'd bring him." To anyone who was expecting 'a set of matches' (not that she expected any new students to...yet), they would just have to be disappointed.
And that seemed to be everything. "Well, if that's all the questions, then I think we're about done for today. Look for an e-mail telling you where we'll be meeting next time. This was mostly just a chance for us to meet and for me to go over how the class would work. But, since you all came out here, I do have something for you all. Yes, even the ones who were late today." She reached under her desk, and pulled out a box containing a number of berries. "Each of you may take one. Any one. And once you do...or don't, for whatever reason, you're dismissed. That said, for the future," she glanced around the room, picking out everyone who had been late. "I don't mind a few stragglers, but in future classes once the lesson or activity for the day has started, anyone who shows up after that doesn't get one." She opened the box, then let out a small sigh. That hadn't gone nearly as badly as she'd thought. "That's all I have. If you do still have questions, feel free to ask them in person before you leave."

Benji idly tapped his pencil on the desk as Kaitlyn answered someone else's question first. Though right after that his ears perked at the sound of her addressing him. Quickly he nodded at what she said, opening his notebook to a new page to write down all the information she was giving him. When she finished he looked up, hoping she'd say even more but no, she turned to the next student to answer them. Grunting, Benji shut his notebook with a sigh. His love for knowledge always made him crave more. Sure she had given him plenty of information on what to bring, yet he felt himself still wanting more and more and more. He frowned and then shrugged not letting it bother him. He knew the next class would most likely answer more of the questions he had. Since of course this was only the first class he knew she had more to teach them all.
When she finished addressing all the students, Benji put away his things in his bag and stood up. Kai had been dozing again and noticing his trainer was leaving, stood with a yawn and followed at Benji's side. When he reached the berry case he leaned over and scanned all the different ones he could pick from. After glancing at his Absol he knew exactly what to pick. He reached in and grabbed a Chople Berry. This would come in handy for Kai if he ever got hit with a Fighting-Type move. Benji put it away in his bag and nodded in goodbye to the teacher as he left the room and headed back to his dorm.
Action: Benji chose a Chople Berry.

Oleg nodded to the teacher as she answered his simple question. He then tapped his chin as the teacher answered the other ones as well. He was glad that he had managed to finally ask something, even if it was the simplest thing he could do. Anyways, enough about Oleg asking stupid questions, more about the class ending. He slowly rose up as berries were mentioned, wobbling over to the box and taking one oran berry.
He then nodded and said a quick "Thank you, have a good day." to the teacher before exiting class and popping the oran berry, chewing it down.
Action: Oleg took a Oran Berry. And then ate it.

Aki was only half paying attention when the teacher was finishing up class. He wasn't too excited about the class but he promised his mother that he would take this class or Physical Education. He picked the lesser of the to evils and he already did walk everywhere. He did see a girl riding a Metagross. He guess he could ride Missy his Nosepass but he didn't thing she would like that. His attention was caught when she mentioned that they could have one berry from the box that she held. Looking down at Drago who was almost falling asleep himself. Aki grabbed Drago and placed him on his shoulder and got out of his seat. Making his way over to the teacher that was holding the box. Peering inside he found one he could use. Picking up the Sitrus Berry and placing it in his pouch. "Thank you" He said to the teacher with a nod of his head. Turning he made his way out of the classroom.
Action: Akihito took a Sitrus Berry
