Throwing In (Round 2/Astrid)

Finally, Murphy started to wake up. The washing machine began to hum to life again, just in time for the kaiju Pokemon to finally attack. A wave of dark energy erupted from the Tyranitar, striking Murphy and knocking it out with very little effort. "Murphy, come on back. You did great," Astrid said, recalling the Rotom. She returned its ball to her waist, spinning in place as she pulled out another one and threw it out. "It's a bit belated, but let's start the second act. Magnate, center stage!" Her Magnezone materialized as the ball landed, whirring to life with a distorted cry. Its magnets began spinning, generating electricity around them, and its single eye focused on the giant kaiju in front of it.
"Let's kick this act off right! Flash Cannon!" Astrid said, gesturing dramatically towards the opponent once again. Light energy gathered around the Magnezone's body, concentrated around the magnets. The electronic whirring emanating from the UFO-like Pokemon's body became louder and louder in response to the buildup. Then, it fired the energy all at once in a single, dazzling beam.

Sonia watched the enemy go down. It seems that she put in her attack at the right time. Meanwhile, her opponent sent out another weird Pokemon. Some sort of. . . flying saucer? Must have been a UFO Pokemon. The thing sent some sort of alien beam at her Tyranitar. At least, that was how Sonia interpreted it. Her Tyranitar managed to take the hit well enough. The attack was solid though. Belka, take that weird thing down with earthquake! Though it floated, the saucer seemed firmly set to the ground. Sonia figured that a strong attack like this would do the trick. Perhaps she was still in this? Could she still win? Only time would tell. Action: Earthquake 100 BP

Magnate scored a solid hit, but the Tyranitar was still standing after it. Worse yet, it was still ready and capable of attacking, as it proved when the girl ordered it to hit with Earthquake. The ground split underneath Magnate, upsetting its weak magnetic levitation and causing it to fall right into the attack. Its body was rattled badly by the ground-based offensive, and it suffered heavy damage. Enough that, were its not for being in top condition and its sturdy body, it would already be out of the fight.
"Whew, score one for Sturdy!" Astrid said, as the Magnezone floated back out of the rubble of the attack, barely levitating and sparking from just about everywhere, but still intact and functional. "Still with us?" Astrid asked. Magnate beeped out a positive response. "Still good to go?" Another positive beep. "Good." A sigh of relief from Astrid.
This would absolutely have to work. Astrid knew that as she gave what was probably going to be Magnate's last order in this fight. "In that case, one more time! Flash Cannon!" Astrid called, her voice even stronger and louder than usual. The fight was tense enough that she was starting to get swept up in it. Magnate, too, gave the second Flash Cannon everything it had as it fired another brilliant beam of light at the Tyranitar.
Magnezone hung on with Sturdy!

Sonia watched the enemy take a serious hit. It was totally down from that. Like, no way it would get up from that. Right? And yet, that's exactly what it did? Holy crackers! How is it still up? As she said that, the odd Pokemon fired off another attack. It was another seriously blow, but again, Belka managed to tank the blow. The sandstorm did an excellent job keeping Belka strong. Still, it was a pain in the ass that this enemy wasn't effected by it. Belka finish it off for realsies! Dark Pulse it in the face! Sonia was a bit miffed at the fact that the enemy managed to survive. She was almost sure that she had it in the bag. All this really meant was that it would be a lot harder to finish off the enemy. It might come down to a one on one at this rate. Action: Dark Pulse in the face. 80 BP + STAB 1 for flinch (1-5) Because it totally matters at this point. kvS6J2u31-51-5

Damn. She'd forgotten that the rock type would be harder to take down with Sandstorm. That was trouble. Big trouble. Magnate was down too, courtesy of another Dark Pulse. Now, she had only one last chance to take down two opponents. The Tyranitar, at least, was barely hanging on, but the girl still had a full health Breloom ready to cause more trouble. The battle may well be down to luck at this point.
"Alright, we're not done yet. Come on out and take center stage, and bring this right to the finale! Quadraxis, our hopes ride on you!" Astrid recalled Magnate and threw out her last ball, releasing her Metagross. It easily stomped flat the stirred up rubble of the Earthquake as it appeared and took its place, not quite matching the Tyranitar for size but certainly for sheer presence. Could it take down both Pokemon? Only time would tell, but it would make for one hell of a finale if it could. "Now, finish this one off! Iron Head!" Astrid called, gesturing dramatically again as the four-legged titan of metal bounded forward, charging to crash headlong into the opponent.
Action: Iron Head - 70 BP + STAB off 135 base attack, with a 30% flinch chance Flinch Roll - 1-3 for success: mzr19_G61-101-10

Again, Sonia managed to take down the enemy's Pokemon. Was she seriously turning this around? Blinking, the girl watched the new Pokemon step out. This one was even more intimidating than the last two. Of course, the first thing the metal monster did upon switching in was make an attack. It was a strong looking headbutt right into Belka, sending him crashing to the ground with a resonating thump. Recalling her Pokemon, the girl looked to her last Pokeball. This was it. Nice job Belka. Now its up to my last guy. Roundabout! Come out and open up with Spore! Hopping out of its ball, the small shroom Pokemon gazed at the giant, menacing machine. It was a scene of Davis and Goliath in some respects. Roundabout had his order too. Sending out a sleeping spore, Roundabout began to put the enemy to sleep. Action: Spore; 100% chance of sleep Sleep Roll (Amount of turns asleep) pTwrabFE1-31-3

Shit. That was all Astrid could think when the Breloom came out again and immediately put Quadraxis to sleep. It was back to being a waiting game, and there was nothing she could do about that. All she could do was hope that her Metagross was durable enough to take whatever the mushroom thing would throw at it. Grass was her first thought, but it was unlikely considering that Quadraxis would resist that. Hopefully it wouldn't have fire or anything like that. "Come on, hang in there, Quadraxis," Astrid said, waiting for her opponent's next move. At this point, there wasn't anything left that she could do but wait.
Action: Asleep

Sonia grinned as soon as she saw that her strategy was about to work. Roundabout had an opportunity to take down the enemy. Roundabout! Go! Take the shot! Shoot the shot! Drain Punch! Dashing forward, the little shroom Pokemon dashed at the metal monster at intense speeds, before blasting it with a strong blow to its sleeping face. If she could take this thing down before it woke up, she would be golden. If not, Roundabout might have been looking at a world of hurt. Hopefully he was prepared for either scenario. Sonia sure was. After that comeback, she was psyched up to the max. She wouldn't waste thing opportunity. Action: Drain Punch 75 BP + STAB (+50% of damage as health)

Quadraxis still didn't wake up after the first punch. That was bad. Well, that was the bad news, at least. The good news was that it was going for an all-out attack, rather than trying to set up. That meant that Astrid still had a chance. All she had to do was to hope that Quadraxis could survive long enough to finish this off. It was a sketchy prospect so far. The punching attack hadn't done too much damage, but it would build up depending on how long Quadraxis stayed asleep. And still, Astrid couldn't do much but to plan. If it was using Drain Punch, then there was at least a chance that this thing was a Fighting Type. ...And a quick scan from her Pokedex confirmed that that was the case. Huh. She should really do that more often.
She had her game plan, now. But it still hinged on the Metagross waking up in time.
Action: Still asleep

The enemy was still asleep. Everything was still a time against the clock. Knowing this, Sonia wasted no time having her Breloom continue its assault. The girl noticed the other scanning her Pokemon with the Pokedex. Sonia chose to do the same, just so she knew what she was up against. A Metagross it seemed. Looking at it, this thing was extremely tough. It was a worthy opponent for the Roundabout. This battle had turned into a one sided attack. Attack on Metagross? Sounded like some sort of movie or television series. Sonia would watch it. Maybe. Roundabout, just keep going! You got this! Action: Drain Punch still

Another punch. Still asleep. This was starting to get ridiculous. By this point she must have spent half the battle with her Pokemon asleep! The tension was real, sure, but it didn't make for much of a show. And Astrid was most definitely not here to bore her audience. Not with how hard it was for her to stay calm at the moment. This wasn't like the last battle, where the ending was a foregone conclusion. This was going to come right down to the wire. Sure, her Pokemon being a sleep were partly to thank for that, but it was still an incredibly close battle.
...That was, if she could still finish it once Quadraxis woke up. At best, she would only have one shot. It had to count. "Hang in there just a little longer, Quadraxis," Astrid said, although the sleeping giant was probably beyond hearing at the moment. Oh well.
Action: Third turn asleep.

Sonia knew that the max duration of Spore was almost over. She couldn't be risky any more now. A lot of thoughts were racing through the girl's mind, but she managed to keep it calm. She had a moment to think about this. Knowing that she could play it safe, the girl opted to play defensively rather than going in for the kill. Roundabout! Use another round of Spore to put the enemy back to sleep! She just needed to hold out a little longer. Just a bit more and she could finish it off. Victory was in sight, but would she be able to grab it? Roundabout was struggling to make a dent in the metal monster, but he was making progress. Action: Spore; hopefully the last time Sleep Roll (Amount of turns asleep) R_7ChVHQ1-31-3

Quadraxis started to wake up again, finally...only to be put right back to sleep again. "Damn it all," Astrid said under her breath. That was it. She was done. If she couldn't even get a hit in before being put to sleep again, then this girl and her Breloom could just keep her locked down all day, and it wouldn't matter how sturdy Quadraxis was. It was death by a thousand cuts, as the saying went.
"I'm done," Astrid said. "It's pretty clear I can't win this now, and I'm not going to draw it out any more than I have to. No one likes a story where the ending is a foregone conclusion but it drags on to get there." She sighed, recalling Quadraxis. "Good match. You're a lot stronger than I thought you'd be. That said though, you'd better win in the finals too. This tournament should still be a Bolt Dorm victory, even if it's not mine." Seria would be pretty upset at her for losing, but she'd just have to get over it eventually. Hopefully without too much trouble in the meantime.
Action: Forfeit on account of sleep lock.

Blinking, Sonia needed to reprocess what she just heard. The other girl had forfeited? Her reason was solid enough. She didn't want to watch her Pokemon just slowly wither away as a result. It was understandable. Nodding to the other girl, Sonia gave her a thumbs up. Bolt Dorm is gonna win this. I'll be taking down whoever I'm up against next. With a smile, the girl saw the other one off before retiring to the waiting area. She wondered who her opponent was. She knew it would be someone tough, considering this would be the finals, but just how tough would they be? Returning the Roundabout, the girl smiled and thanked her Pokemon who had fought for her. They would get healed before getting ready for the next battle. Action: Sonia leaves the arena.
