Astrid could sit around and watch the lightning for a very long time. It was like a light show, like you'd see at a planetarium or certain parks, except that she didn't have to pay a thing, for it. All she had to do was occasionally chase off Pokemon that wanted to dig in her bag, and occasionally be on the lookout for things to catch. And there were plenty of things. She just hadn't found anything she wanted.
Oh well. She'd get back to that part soon enough. For the moment, she just wanted to watch the lightning for a little longer. Five more minutes, maybe.

A-ha. Didn't even have to start again, before Astrid found what she was looking for. An Eevee was staring at her from a not particularly great distance, almost looking expectant. "Oh, hello," Astrid said, reaching for one of her Pokeballs. "Didn't expect to see one of you around." Looking for? Sure. Expecting? Not really. Back home, at least, they were extremely rare. Here? Who even knew.
She tossed out the ball she reached for, and her Tynamo, Draygon, appeared from it. "Okay, this one could be pretty tough, but I have confidence that you can pull it off. Use Spark!" Astrid called out. The electric fish charged up, electricity arcing across his body, then ran headlong into the Eevee. It took a bit of damage from the attack, but proved to be quite resilient as well. Then, as it recovered, it it gave the Tynamo a demure, charming look, causing the electric fish to let his guard down and lose his edge. Astrid could immediately tell that continuing to use physical moves would get her nowhere.
"Let's try special moves, then. Charge Beam!" Astrid called out. Draygon fired off a beam of electricity in response, causing the buildup of electrical charge in its body to increase in the process. The Eevee looked even less injured from the attack, but Draygon had managed to charge back up a bit in response. Sensing a threat that it couldn't just charm away, the Eevee went on the offensive, charging and slamming into the Tynamo for a basic Tackle. "Keep up the attack! Charge Beam again!" Astrid called. Draygon fired off another beam, stronger than the first for a more potent hit and causing even more electrical charge to build up. The Eevee slammed into the Tynamo yet again, noticeably injuring him, but he managed to stay standing. "One last time! Charge Beam!" Astrid called out. With the third electrically charged beam, the Eevee finally dropped, unconscious. Astrid tossed an Academy Ball to catch it, noting during her brief struggle to find one that it was about time to buy more.

One step closer, add it to your P.C. and remove a ball
