Something about this place was just eerie. It wasn't the fact that the whole mansion seemed to have a faint, ethereal glow to it. Nor was it the fact that everything from paintings to unseen entities in the shadows seemed to be watching Astrid as she entered. No, those just gave off the feeling of a horror movie set. And Astrid had seen enough horror movies that they had to really work to scare her. No, it was the fact that Xanadu had started tugging at her and waving one of her arms at it when she passed by. Astrid still wasn't entirely used to Xanadu's behavior, but she was familiar enough to be suspicious of her motives.
Still, curiosity about what lie within drew her to enter anyway. A little bit of exploring wouldn't hurt too much.

In true horror movie fashion, it didn't take Astrid long before a door closed and locked behind her. She turned, catching sight of something zipping away at high speed from the locked door (on her side of it, no less) and gave chase. By light provided by Xanadu, she managed to track it down into another room, only for that door to lock behind her as well, trapping the both of them aside.
"Well, looks like I'm not getting out unless I take you with me," Astrid said, rather nonchalant about her predicament. And why shouldn't she be? She was starting to get good at this whole catching thing. Besides, now that she could see it clearly, her opponent was literally a sentient key ring. How hard could it be? "Not too smart though, locking yourself in with me. Unless you meant to do that?" Xanadu, meanwhile, drifted over to the locked door, poking at it with her psychic abilities. Deciding to let her have at it, Astrid pulled out one of her other balls, and released her Beldum from the ball.
"Try...um, Zen Headbutt!" Astrid called out. She was just guessing at Quadraxis's moves, but that one seemed right. Sure enough, it responded, gathering psychic energy around its joint and smashing into the key ring with it. The move had very little effect, though, and the key ring retaliated as though nothing had happened. A big glowing ball of energy gathered in front of its face, then got launched at the Beldum, with similarly ineffectual results. So...they both had trouble damaging each other. There wasn't much choice but to let the battle be drawn out, then. But that could work in their advantage, at least. It meant little danger of being suddenly dropped into critical condition like Xanadu had with Magnate.
"Try Iron Head now!" Astrid called out. This time, Quadraxis swiveled around to face the spiked bottom of its body towards the key ring, and smashed straight into it. To Astrid's surprise, that seemed to have a bit more of an effect. Then, something occurred to her. It was metal, so it wasn't taking much damage. But attacking it with metal seemed to work, and it was an obvious trickster...was it a fairy too? After the key ring retaliated with another bright blast of light, Astrid called out "Another Iron Head!" Quadraxis once again smashed into the key ring, knocking it out of the air for a second.
Once it got up, however, it zipped through the air to collide with the Beldum, and the next thing Astrid knew it was knocking Quadraxis around from all sides and knocking up a bunch of dust in the process. "Get out of there with another Iron Head!" Astrid called. Quadraxis charged through at the first opportunity, catching the key ring Pokemon on one of its spikes and slamming it into a wall.
After Quadraxis pulled away, Astrid could tell that the key ring was having trouble staying in the air. It drifted towards the ground, then stuck there for a second. As Astrid reached for an Academy Ball, it gave one final cry of resistance. Literally. All at once, she was hit with the noise of metal parts scraping together, accompanied by a high-pitched ringing. She immediately put her hands to her ears, wincing at the noise. "That one was for me, wasn't it?" she said, her voice pained. "Quadraxis, one more Iron Head!" As the Beldum slammed into the key ring one more time, it went silent, and sat limp on the ground. Seeing her chance, Astrid threw the ball to catch it.
