Lay Back and Relax [Tanya Christianson]

It was just one of those days. Tanya had run out of stuff to do. She hated running out of stuff to do. Life wasn't about just sitting around and doing nothing, though there were times when that was applicable. It was about meeting new people and doing new things. With that in mind, she headed to the place where she expected to there quite a lot of people, the Wave Dorm Living Area.

Though somewhat similar to the commons area down where the rest of the school was, it was a more convenient place for people in her dorm and she had never been before. Still having her map alongside her, she entered the area and looked around, trying to see if there was anyone who could help sate her boredom.

Looking over to one of the couches, a blonde haired boy was on his own. Having only met girls from Wave Dorm before, she immediately moved towards the couch, wondering how she was going to begin conversation. Maybe she should ask about what pokemon he had or maybe she should ask how he had been enjoying the academy?

Whatever it was, she reached the couch to be disappointed when she found out the boy was asleep. She let out a quick sigh to herself. What to do now? Wait a minute, he might be asleep.

Moving her face right up next to the boy's face, Tanya started pulling weird faces. Why? She was bored and frankly, she didn't like being bored.

Tanya jumped back in surprise when the boy opened his eyes, not expecting him to wake up. Yelping, she luckily managed to right herself upwards before she crashed into anything else in the room. That was certainly a shocking experience. As the boy berated Tanya, she took a moment to fully understand what just happened. When the boy had finished though, she couldn't help but laugh out loud."

"I'm sorry, but I didn't think you'd be awake~." Tanya apologized playfully, scratching the back of her head while still smiling like an idiot. "I wasn't trying to wake you up, I just like bored. I had nothing to do and I thought you were sleeping. I guess I'm glad I just made faces instead of drawing on your face or something."

Well now the boy was awake. While she was disappointed that she didn't get the opportunity to draw on the boy's face or some other sort of weird stunt, the boy was now conscious. Tanya moved towards the other side of the couch that was free and jumped onto it, letting the cushions soften her fall. She then turned her head towards the Wave Dorm boy and started talking.

"But now that you're awake though, we might as well talk. The name's Tanya. I come from Hoenn, what about you?"

"You're from Hoenn as well! That's totally awesome! I'm like from Fallabor Town in the northwest!" Tanya exclaimed, glad to meet someone else who came from Hoenn. So far, everyone she met came from different regions and while that was really cool, it was nice to know some people who also came from her home region.

At William's question, Tanya pondered it for a second, tapping her finger on her chin as she tried to come up with a reason. When she thought hard about it, she wasn't 100% sure why she chose the Wave Dorm. When applying for the academy, she picked the two pokemon she liked the look of the most. At the same time though, she couldn't really imagine being in a different dorm.

"Ummm I think there are some reasons I chose this dorm. For one thing, I really liked the look of my starter pokemon, who was Water and Poison, but she's evolved now, so she's technically Dragon and Poison now. I guess another reason I chose Wave Dorm was because the emphasis on water reminds me of Hoenn since there is like water basically everywhere there." Tanya answered, still looking somewhat pensive as she tried to pinpoint a few more reasons why she joined Wave Dorm. "Oh! I also really liked the light blue uniform they had, so I guess that's a reason."

She couldn't help but smile goofily at the thought that she joined the dorm just because she liked the uniform. She wondered if she should've given deeper reasons for joining the dorm. Maybe that was what William was looking for. Shrugging at the thought, she shifted the focus back over to William to ask him the same question.

"You mind if I call you Will? I might as well ask you the same thing, why'd you join the awesome dorm that is Wave Dorm?"

If she hadn't woken up Will from what she assumed was him sleeping, she might've been offended from him yawning. Yet he covered his mouth and Tanya did disrupt his nap, so she let it slide. The talk about Hoenn caused her to feel comfortable. While the island they were on was close to Hoenn, at the same time it was very different to the region she grew up in.

"I don't think it's silly." Tanya responded bluntly, frowning at the notion that Will was suggesting. "To be honest Will, I reckon we don't need to have super big or fantastic reasons for joining a dorm. If we like the dorm, we like it. Heck, I said myself that I joined cause of liking the uniform. Ain't that shallow?"

When the topic shifted towards battling, Tanya quickly flicked her head to face him. Excitement flickered in her eyes as the topic that she loved to talk about was finally brought up. This time, it wasn't even her who did it. "Oh yeah! Of course I have! While I lost my first match, I totally managed to win my second one, but it was like way close." Tanya blabbed, the words jumping out of her mouth. "As for pokemon evolving, only one of them has so far."

After admitting her evolution, she had an idea cross her mind. She hadn't battled someone from Wave Dorm and since he was a trainer here and since he asked about it, maybe he was hinted that he wanted to battle. The next words that came out of her mouth were filled with zest.

"Do you wanna have a battle?"

Tanya waited expectantly for his response, hoping that he would say yes in the end. While she was here, she wanted to have as many battles and gain as much experience as she possibly could. While learning was important to her, she felt it was better to implement the things that she had learned rather than just put it all up to theory.

"Awesome!" Tanya exclaimed when he accepted her proposal, punching the air and jumping up onto her feet. "Hey, don't worry about being good or bad, just take each battle as a learning experience. If you consider it like that, you'll improve from each one you have."

Looking around the area, she came to the conclusion that it was not a good idea to battle here. She didn't want to receive the ire of the Wave Dorm wardens for destroying the room. She didn't want to have to walk all the way up to the academy to use the battle dome either though.

"We could have our battle out on the beach! Doesn't that sound like so cool? Also, how many pokemon do you want me to use? I've got 4, but one of them has evolved and is in it's final stage. I don't mind how many you want to use, so long as it's equal. So, how many do you want to use?"

Tanya tapped her chin, considering how many pokemon she should use for their battle. As tempting as it was for her to use her Dragalge, judging from how the conversation went, it didn't seem as if Will had any pokemon that had evolved. While she wanted to see how he would've dealt with it, she didn't want to make the match unfair. That would just be boring.

"I've decided. We're going to have a 3 versus 3 pokemon battle!" Tanya declared, probably attracting more attention than was probably necessary with her antics. Even if she did attract attention, she didn't care. She enjoyed having people notice her. 


"Come on then Will, let's go to the beach! I'm gonna get there first!" Tanya playfully called out, rushing out of the dorm room and running towards the beach.
