Sonia had finally set off on her first exploration on the island. After getting settled into her dorm room, the girl took a little bit of time to get acquainted with the two Pokemon that she had been given, as well as giving the two of them names. But as someone who preferred to jump right into things, the girl decided to go exploring not a moment after. There were plenty of places for her to go exploring first. Grassy fields, forests, the beach, snowfields, spooky old ruins, and even a desert. But the thing that caught the young girls eye? The giant volcano quite a distance from her home dorm.
It took the girl quite a bit of time to get there on foot. Not that she really minded the walk. She was used to constant physical exertion from working on the family ranch. Though, that didn't stop her from taking as long as she did to reach the place. Wasn't there some more convenient way to travel around? Nothing really popped into her head at the time. It was something she would need to figure out later. For now, she stood before the island's volcano. Taking a small breath, the girl trod on without any regard for the possible danger that was ahead of her. Not that knowing about it would have changed anything. . . aside from the number of cuts and bruises she was likely to get. Preferred spawn: Growlithe with V-Create

Sonia trod through the base of the volcano, glancing around every once in a while. Nothing seemed all that interesting to her out here. She was honestly hoping for a bunch of really big, strong Pokemon to just be wandering around. Then again, she figured that this was probably done on purpose for those students who simply couldn't handle fighting such Pokemon. But her? She could totally handle them all no problem. That's what she kept telling herself anyway. Results were yet to be seen.
But Sonia did run into a wild Pokemon eventually. Her first one, at that. It was a Torkoal, which moved really slow. It didn't seem hostile either. Now, Sonia had no intention of catching a Torkoal. It simply wasn't her style. So instead, she walked over and petted it. It was quite hot to the touch, but otherwise harmless. Afterwards, she strolled away, humming. The Torkoal didn't even bother to acknowledge her throughout that engagement.

After her run-in with the Torkoal, Sonia strolled up the volcano a bit more. What else would this place have to offer her? Her answer was given not too long after that when a small puppy Pokemon leaped out from behind a rock. With a howl, it looked at Sonia curiously. In return, Sonia simply blinked before smiling and pulling out a Pokeball. Time to start.
Sonia was quite familiar with Growlithe. That and its evolved counterpart Arcanine. She had handled several of them back at the ranch. But now she could have one of her own. She loved dogs, after all. This was a great situation. The question was what Pokemon to use against it. Thinking it over, she only had two options and the grass type was out of the question. With that, she threw out the Pokeball in her hand and called out the name of the Pokemon that was held within. Strelka! Double Edge!
The tiny Aron popped out of the ball, hesitating for a moment. It wasn't exactly used to going into battle. But hearing the command come out, it knew what needed to be done. Looking at the Growlithe in front of it, the tiny Aron charged into it, bashing it in the side. It was a strong attack on its own, causing the Growlithe to fly back a bit before regaining its footing. It came back at Strelka hard, and flaming. It was an attack not unlike the one Strelka used. The only difference was the flame permeating its body. It was a strong attack but not only did Strelka seem to be more sturdy, the Growlithe suffered a bit of recoil from the attack. Sonia smirked a bit at this realization. Not bad, doggy. But my Pokemon are tough! A reckless attack like that won't do a thing! Gahahahaha. Placing her hands on her shoulders, the girl let out a hearty laugh.
Strelka, one more time! Double Edge! Charging at the Growlithe once more, Strelka bashed into its side. as Sonia had said, the Aron took no recoil damage as a result. It was an ability that she felt was only fitting for Pokemon she owned. Once again, the Growlithe flew back a bit. However, it failed to land on its legs like last time. It was faltering a bit now. If it tried using that attack again, it would surely go down. And yet? It still tried. At that moment, Sonia's expression got a bit serious. Metal Burst.
Taking the attack that the Growlithe let out, Strelka sent it flying back with its new attack. The Growlithe fainted, of course. there was no getting up after that many attacks. With a sigh and a relieved smile, Sonia pulled out an empty Pokeball and tossed it at the Growlithe. You'll do nicely. While she waited for that to do its buisness, she turned to her Aron and returned it. You too. That was good for a first fight. In all, she was very satisfied with this trip.

Sonia watched as the Pokeball that she tossed halted to a stop. Walking over to pick it up, the girl sighed. Her breathing had become a little heavy due to her excitement from the fight. It was quite intense to her, given it was her first time. To be fair, the heat was also getting to her. She was beginning to sweat slightly after being near the volcano for so long. Realizing that she had already accomplished what she set out to do, the girl opted to return to her dorm. Afterwards, a nice shower would probably be good. She imagined that her new puppy would need a bath as well. So in the end, the girl decided to head home and knock out two birds with one stone.
