The Early Bird gets the Bookworm [Chris]

Sunlight was filtering in through a large window, one that nearly took up an entire wall, letting natural light flood the sitting area nearby for studying or tame socializing. It was early in the morning, when most students were either asleep or grabbing breakfast. Vivi? She’d been up for a while, thanks to her Budew. The little plant had released herself from her ball overnight and woken the girl up several times with her crying. Every time she’d gotten the plant back to sleep, it seemed like she’d be up an hour or two later. Functioning on probably five hours of sleep wasn’t what the Kalosian girl liked to do, but she managed.
“Je m'ennuie de mon oreiller.” Vivienne muttered in her native tongue. It was rare to see her speaking Kalosian in public; growing up veritably bi-lingual due to her parent’s operating an inn, the girl tended to opt for a more common tongue than that. Still, rubbing her eyes lightly, she took to using the extra time her early morning afforded her by doing some reading for school and for pleasure.
The stack of books on the little table next to the plush chair she perched on wasn’t as high as some bibliophiles would have them, but it was fair. Fairy Pokemon: An Enchanting Discovery was sitting on top, and the cover featured an illustration of a Florges in a garden; written by a Professor from the Kanto region, where Fairy types were far rarer than her own, it was surprisingly informative. Underneath it was a book on battle strategy written by a former champion, a short memoir from a Top Coordinator, and at the very bottom…. Security in the Modern World? That didn’t seem like the sort of light, or at least Pokemon, centered material the rest was….

Admittedly, most people certainly wouldn't be up this early... but... guess Chris isn't like most people in that regard. He'd already woken up and got changed back in the dorm... no point in being lazy and staying in bed all day, never going to be a successful trainer if that's all one ever does. Well then... what to do today... well... guess Chris could go study down at the library, and there won't be many distractions with how early it is... guess that's the best place to go. Walking out of the dorm he'd woken up in, Chris sent out his Pokémon, Dusk and Argos, the 'peace keepers' of his team.
Heading off to the library with his two Pokémon alongside him, Chris was mentally debating what to try and read up on... something to do with Dark types could possibly be fitting, maybe something about the Weavile species or just Dark types in general, never hurts to know more about those that stand alongside you. Upon reaching the library, Chris quietly opened the door and headed inside, Dusk and then Argos following him inside. Dusk naturally was keeping a wary eye open, watching for any possible dangers to Chris or his Pokémon. Argos just seemed to be following happily, although in reality, he was ready to jump in and help Dusk the very moment help is needed.

Vivienne rose from the spot she was sitting, the slim book in her hand destined for a shelving cart nearby. The sitting area was one of several scattered through the library, not proper studying cubes but social little spots for people. She'd noted several signs urging people to keep control of their Pokemon, apparently due to an incident that happened a few weeks back. It was something to keep in mind, especially since Marmalade, her Budew, was as willful and spiteful as the day was long. In fact, she only had a single Pokemon out of it's Pokeball that morning with her; a la Mode, the Swirlix, had been acquired during her recent mission to fix the Pier. She'd met a pair of young men, one from Lava and one from Wave, who were...interesting, to say the least. In hindsight, Argent's antics were nearly comic, but the other one, the Wave Dormer.....Sapphira was his name, she thought? He was a bit of a pain in the ass when it came to actually working.
In either event, she'd left the piers with another fairy type. The cotton candy Pokemon, stuck living in such a damp and dingy place, made her heart ache a little for it; the Swirlix had probably been living off of the food dropped and discarded underneath the pier, eating up candy and sweets most likely. After bringing him home, Vivienne had spent an hour grooming the little Swirlix, or at least trying to. It's fluffy fur had been matted in places and it had a natural propensity for being sticky; having him out in the Library was a bit of a challenge, but as long as he didn't rub up against something too much he didn't seem to leave much debris.
Deciding that reading up on grooming was a fair idea, the girl left her current stack of books on the small table and nodded to the Swirlix, who bounced along after her, using his little feet and tail to propel himself up and down. The grooming books were a little closer to the entrance, right?
The Nature dormer and her candy Pokemon came around one set of shelves and found themselves not even four feet from a young man and two of his Pokemon; getting around them to the grooming books meant either going back through the shelves and around...or asking them to move. The girl hesitated for a moment, glancing back the way they came to avoid bringing attention to them. Her Swirlix, on the other hand, with his tongue out as his species usually did, yipped at them, drawing their attention undoubtedly if they hadn't noticed them prior.
"Um....excuse me? Please?" She asked clasping her hands in front of her. She didn't look the other student in the eye, instead keeping it trained on the somewhat aggressive looking Weavile.

Well then... time to begin looking for books regarding dark types. quickly finding his way to the correct self close to the entrance, he began skimming over the names of the books, attempting to find anything that could be useful to read, to do with dark types anyway. Specifically, Chris was looking for things to do with Weavile, Honchkrow, Drapion, Crawdaunt and Zorua... well won't complain about something to do with zoroark either. Naturally Argos was just growling lowly and quietly barking, conversing with Dusk, who did give the occasional very, very brief cry as a response, although she was still clearly looking around in order to ensure Chris's and Argos's safety.
When what sounded like a young girl was heard, Chris turned his glance away from the shelves and looked towards the source... well... she certainly must be young to be that tall... no offense to older short people. Simply nodding and stepping to the side to allow her passage... wouldn't be polite not to do so.
Dusk found herself giving the girl and her Pokémon quite the glare, one that could quite effectively convey the message 'you mess with my trainer, myself or his Pokémon, things won't work out well for you'. Argos however wasn't anywhere near as defensive as dusk however, so he barked as a response to the Swirlix.

Vivienne glanced up at the boy's face when he let her pass, offering him her own nod of the head. He had nearly a foot on her, and the Kalosian's pig tails and wide eyes didn't help anyone thinking of her as older. Being cute had it's disadvantages, like trying to get boys her age interested, but it also had a few perks. No one tended to think the worst of the innocent looking ones; it's how she'd conned so many people back home and gotten away with it. Still, on the rare occasion it was nailed home just how tiny she was, the girl could only grit her teeth and bear it instead of saying anything. She passed the boy, his uniform meaning he was....a Mana Dormer, right? The shelves for the grooming books were a ways past the dark type information he was looking through, on an opposite side. Vivienne didn't really glance back when she passed, until she noticed the lack of the fairy at her side.
a la Mode was hopping around the Mana Dormer, making the occasional sound at the Growlithe, trying to get it to play it seemed. The Swirlix's feet drew up into it's fluff as it hopped back, balancing on it's sturdy tail. Wobbling lightly on the tail, it was evident why they were called the cotton candy Pokemon beyond their preferred diet.
"a la Mode...." Vivienne whispered sharply, loud enough to get the attention of the fairy Pokemon, and the Mana Dormer and his two it stayed nearby. She motioned for him to come over, and he chuckled lightly. "a la Mode.........." She trained the Swirlix with a serious look, sliding a book off the shelf and into her arms.

Turning his focus back to looking for an relevant book, it only took him a moment to find one... specifically one to do with the weavile species, which certainly is relevant due to Dusk's presence on the team... maybe he could find a way to better manage situations in which Dusk is involved... not likely, but better to try and fail right? Dusk naturally gave quite the glare to the Swirlix, as if it was trying to tell it to just move along quietly. Argos meanwhile was barking and growling quietly as responses to the Swirlix, he naturally was trying to be friendly instead of aggressive.
Merely sighing, Chris glanced to what Argos was growling and barking at... the girls Swirlix... guess that explains why she seems frustrated at it as well. "you may want to go and collect your Pokémon... Dusk isn't that fond of those who cause distractions unnecessarily, be it just trying to play or deliberately distract" Chris spoke, his tone lacking emotion.

The Swirlix was largely ignoring the Weavile in favor of trying to convince the Growlithe to play. Vivienne watched the tense Dark type, biting her lip slightly. Her eyes darted over to the shelf, her hand surprisingly nimble as she slid a volume off about dealing with tricky textures of Pokemon fur and hair as she went back. By then, the boy had commented on the Swirlix's antics, which caused her cheeks to flush.
Deliberate distractions? There was a thought for the Kalosian. Her Klefki might've been useful for helping pick locks, but helping pull a con might be easier with something more conventionally cute. It was something to file away for a later, at the very least. Still, when she got over, hugging the book to her chest, Vivienne kept her eyes down as she met the wide pink eyes of her Pokemon. a la Mode, despite wanting to play with the Growlithe, made a slight noise of apology to her.
"Sorry about that...." She said, turning not the boy, but to the Weavile who he spoke of first. The girl then cast a quick glance to him as well, giving him a slight bow of her head. "a la Mode's kind of new to the family. Poor guy was living underneath the pier when I found him." It wasn't much of an explanation, but it was actually true. Realizing the boy might not want other human company near by, perhaps because he thought (just as Vivienne had) that the library would empty so early, the pink-haired girl tucked her head down again as she began to walk past, trying to give the boy and his Pokemon as much berth as possible.
