Where There's a Will, There's a Way (Battle/Meili)

Tanya was waiting for Meili, her first pokemon already waiting to battle. It would be a somewhat familiar sight for Meili. After all, she did encounter her briefly in her last battle. Daniella was floating on the battlefield, a small string necklace around her neck that was connected to some Leftovers. She wasn't really sure how else to keep the items on the pokemon while allowing them to keep battling. While it was harder for Daniella to keep on, she could use her psychic powers to make sure it didn't fly off.

"Hey there Meili! Here's my starting pokemon for this match. You choose one and I'll make the first move, just like in the tournaments." Tanya called out to Meili, waving at her and flashing a cheesy grin. A part of her just wanted the match to start, and she was wondering what Meili was going to bring to the table.

Meili entered the arena after Tanya accepted her challenge. Again, she entered the familiar plain arena. It seems that Tanya already sent out a Pokemon. She arched an eyebrow before checking her Pokedex. It was a Musharna. Apparently Meili wasn't the only one evolving her Pokemon since this Musharna is the evolved form of the very Munna that defeated her. She knew one Pokemon she had on her that could resist this Pokemon's attacks and retaliate efficiently.

"Come on out Ju!" She had to take into consideration that her opponent had leftovers to slowly heal off any damage. However, within a few attacks her opponent won't get away with this. "Ju use Fury Cutter!" The Scyther charged over towards the Munna.

"Oh, never mind then." Tanya called out bluntly when Meili began to attack. As the Scyther flew towards the Musharna, her eyes began to glow a purple color anticipating the events that were to come with Forewarn. Therefore, when the Scyther was about to hit with the attack, Daniella moved towards the right in the sky, dodging the attack even if it was going to hit.

"Respond with an attempt at Hypnosis!" Tanya commanded, keep up the confidence even though she probably would've preferred to attack first. Looking towards the Scyther, Daniella started to send out yellow rings of psychic suggestion towards the bug pokemon, with the intent of causing the pokemon to fall into a sleep. Tanya was hoping the attack would hit, because it had an annoying tendency to miss at times.

Action: Daniella dodged Fury Cutter due to Forewarn! Attacks with Hypnosis!

Meili turned red when she realized she more or less bit the bullet early so to speak. However, something was unexpected. As soon as Ju's blades was about to make contact with the Musharna, the Musharna moved slightly to the right, completely dodging it. Meili's eyes widened and she quickly took out her pokedex. Her eyes scanned the Musharna's ability, Forewarn, a power that lets it be warned of a super effective attack.

"Respond with an attempt at Hypnosis!" Meili winced as she watched her Scyther be unable to gaze away from the hypnotic waves of the floating purple and pink tapir. Ju slammed on to the ground, asleep and more or less open to attack. Meili had two options. Return her Pokemon and let them get hit or risk keeping Ju out on the field. On one hand though, the Musharna doesn't need to use dream eater, on the other hand there is a possibility it knows Nightmare. Meili resisted the urge to return her Pokemon since it is likely it will get hit by hypnosis again...

Action: Keeping Ju out.

Tanya considered her options on how to proceed. She could go for Nightmare, which might be an interesting tactic to use, but she wasn't sure how long the pokemon was going to stay asleep. Another issue to consider was the fact that Nightmare was probably only going to be used when Daniella had trouble damaging things. While Psychic was a pretty strong option, Dream Eater was a stronger attack, but Daniella didn't need to regain health. Still, the attack power was stronger than Psychic.

"Daniella, use Dream Eater!" Tanya commanded, watching intently as her pokemon flew towards and above the Scyther. From there, the pink mist she exuded started to float into the Scyther's ears, coming out the other end where it was promptly consumed by Daniella. As the process happened, the Scyther began to shake and look physically uncomfortable, as if getting hurt by the attack. There was probably more elegant ways of handling the situation, but she wanted to do as much damage as possible.

Action: Daniella used Dream Eater!

"Daniella, use Dream Eater!" Crap, that wasn't good. Soon the Musharna started to drain energy from the unconscious Scyther. Ju still wasn't waking up. Meili had half a mind to return the Scyther but that would risk leaving another Pokemon to subject to hypnosis. She bowed her head. She decided, for once, to hope. If Scyther takes another dream eater attack is more than likely that Ju won't last.

Meili didn't want to use this, especially since that Musharna has yet to take even a scratch int his match, but she was going to have to use Ju as a sacrificial play. Sorry Ju, but that hypnosis was a real stroke of bad luck for you.

Action: Ju is still asleep.

The Scyther continued to sleep, and Daniella still floated in the air, seeming very calm. Tanya had to admit that the pokemon was able to keep her composure very easily. It was almost like she wasn't battling. Causing the pokemon to sleep probably helped with that.

"Daniella, Dream Eater once more." On the order, Daniella began exuding dream mist, letting it seep into Scyther's ear. Coming out of the other ear, Daniella began to eat the dreams once more, gaining sustenance from the essence of the dreams. Luckily for her, the battle seemed to be in her favor. Tanya exuded confidence, having faith that her pokemon would lead her to victory. In the event they didn't, she expected a very good match.

Action: Daniella used Dream Eater!

And with that final dream eater attack, Scyther is unconscious. Just twitching at this point. Meili double checked her Pokedex to see the condition of Ju and then took out Ju's Pokeball to return him. Meili's options are now limited. Musharna's Forewarn will just make it so it dodges a super effective attack once. That'll give it enough time to use hypnosis on one of her Pokemon. She has no Pokemon with Insomina.

"Looks like I'm just going to have to be creative!" Meili detached the pokeball containing her next Pokemon from her belt. "Saan!" Meili unleashed the tiny ground mole. "Use Rock Slide!" The Diglett dug into the ground, but then came out unleashing a large barrage of rocks at the Musharna.

Once the Scyther went down, Tanya was considering whether using Daniella was the best idea. Trying to find a way to get around the Forewarn, Meili sent out a Diglett and attacked with a move that wasn't super effective against Diglett. This achieved not too much. Daniella barely looked scratched by the attack, floating in the air and only slightly tilting her head in the direction of the Diglett.

"Daniella, use Yawn!" Tanya commanded, trying to find a way to make the battle a bit more fair. At this rate, Tanya was worried she was just going to sweep with Daniella. That wasn't fun for either of them. Come to think of it, this battle was probably a good way for her to get experience to some of her pokemon in training. Then she remembered that Diglett probably had Arena Trap. At that point, Tanya let out a strained sigh.

Daniella on the other hand began creating a giant pink bubble from her mouth, expelling it once it reached a large size and allowing the bubble to drift towards the Diglett. Once it hit the Diglett, the pokemon would begin to feel drowsy, eventually falling to sleep after a short period of time. Meanwhile, Daniella began to consume her Leftovers, restoring the majority of the damage she took from the attack.

Action: Daniella used Yawn! Diglett has two turns before it falls asleep! Daniella's Leftovers restored 1/16th of her health!

Meili winced as she watched the rock slide have a direct hit on the Musharna, but not in any way that is too significant. Diglett might be fast but right now what she needed was power. Unfortunately even power won't give her what she wants seeing as how using Sucker Punch will just trigger Musharna's Forewarn.

"Daniella, use Yawn!" To make things better, she is on a time limit now. The Musharna yawned out a bubble that hit Saan. The little mole was now struggling to keep his eyes awake. Meili's voice ought to change that situation temporarily.

"Saan use Rock Slide again!" The Diglett snapped out of it for a moment and then dug into the ground. Saan shot out, once more sending a rain of giant rocks over at the purple tapir.

Thinking about it now, Tanya sorta wished that she had given Daniella Calm Mind. She had decent defenses plus offenses to support the move, yet she had never thought to use it before. When she thought about it though, there wasn't a lot of space to play around with the moves she had. Maybe a possible future investment then.

"Daniella, heal off all your wounds with Moonlight!" Tanya commanded, watching as Daneilla shrugged off the damage that was dealt to her by the attack. Once the rocks were out of the way, Daniella looked up to the sky. A pale circle appeared in the sky, the beams of light radiating from it fell onto Daniella, healing all the wounds she had sustained from the Diglett's previous attacks.

Action: Daniella used Moonlight! Heals 50% health!

"Daniella, heal off all your wounds with Moonlight!" Meili's face almost lost its color for a moment as she saw the purple tapir heal off all the wounds on its body. She started to notice her Diglett dozing off. Meili hissed as she returned her Diglett and then reached for another Pokeball. This was ridiculous. Dammit, was she still this under powered?! However, even worse, she's now back to where she started, only she is down one Pokemon.

"Penn!" Meili despised sending out her ace this early but for now she is confident that only Penn could take an attack from the Musharna and retaliate in due kind.

Tanya was relieved when Meili returned her Diglett. She was interested to see that she had evolved her Charmander into a Charmeleon. She knew she couldn't keep Daniella in, even if she probably could sweep the majority of Meili's team with her. She felt it was unfair and honestly, there were pokemon that could use the experience more than she could. Judging from how Meili looked, she didn't think it was fair to keep fighting with her.

"Return Daniella! Brock, take her place!" Tanya ordered, returning Daniella to her pokeball and sending out one of her newer pokemon, her Rhydon, Brock. When Rhydon appeared on the battlefield, he let out a hearty laugh and looked towards Tanya, winking leisurely at her before looking towards his opponent and stepping backwards, moving into a battle stance. Watching her Rhydon made Tanya chuckle. She wasn't sure what happened when her pokemon evolved, but whatever it was, she liked it.

"Now then, show me what you've got!" Tanya declared, throwing her arm forwards. Brock followed suit, smirking confidently at the Charmeleon.

Action: Daniella has returned! Brock the Rhydon has taken her place!

"Return Daniella! Brock, take her place!" And with the return of Musharna, a Rhyhorn took her place. Meili didn't need to take out her Pokedex for this. She knew that she was at a disadvantage way. "Now then, show me what you've got!" A part of Meili wanted to use Smoke Screen but considering her luck she wasn't going to challenge that. She thought for a moment before she knew what move she was going to go with. No...Meili wasn't going to chance it.

"Penn come back!" Meili wasn't suicidal. Wasting one of her best Pokemon like this was nothing more than foolishness. She just had to hope that Rhyhorn doesn't have anything that would screw her over royally. "Go Ye!" The Duskull was sent out. It let out a little laugh as it floated before Meili.

Penn is called back!

Tanya thought for a moment before coming to a decision about how to proceed. There must be some reason for her sending in the Duskull. If she wanted to go for something that was just pure power, she could've easily gone with something that could attack Brock's weaker stats. However, she instead elected to go with Duskull, who weren't known for their physical prowess. Whatever reason she had for sending her out.

"Get the Duskull out of here with Dragon Tail!" Tanya ordered, Brock knocking his head before bounding into action. Running somewhat clumsily towards the Duskull, Brock's tail began to glow a bright green. Eventually, once within range of the Duskull, Brock swung his tail ferociously at the Duskull, trying to hit her with his tail and get her out of the battle. While it would be nice to get the Charmeleon back in, she was curious to see what other pokemon Meili had.
