Baby Fight! (Battle v.s. Vivi)

Tanya called a Toxic attack, which gave Vivienne a moment of worry before the Happiny hit herself instead. The confusion was buying her a little more time to try setting up something then. She nodded to herself. Having already taken on a Happiny in the wild, Vivienne and Licorice knew they could take special attacks from them with ease, but physical attacks? Happiny weren't nearly as prepared for that. Before she started bum-rushing the baby Pokemon though, maybe a little bit of caution would serve her well...

"Let's Scald again Licorice!" Vivienne called; if she could just start getting the burns to take on Tanya's team, she'd have felt far more comfortable with the battle.

Action: Feebas used Scald!

The confusion was really starting to get to Tanya. Pippa hit herself and then promptly was on the receiving end of a Scald personally provided by the Feebas. While it wasn't too badly hurt by the attack, it was clear that it wasn't really happy and in fact, was nearly on the verge of tears. Not really sure what to do, Tanya took a minute to think before coming up with a plan.

"You can do it Pippa! Just try Toxic again!" Tanya called out, showing signs of stress not due to the outcome of the match, but of how she was going to be able to calm down a potential storm of tears from Pippa. However, if Pippa were to break free of the confusion, she would spit out a dark liquid, eventually forming to a gas that caused the Feebas to be badly poisoned if it was breathed in. Visible sweat could be seen forming on Tanya's face as worry started to overcome her.

Action: Pippa tried to use Toxic!

Another would-be Toxic attack found itself ending with the Happiny slapping herself instead. Licorice's Scald scored a direct hit, but the Happiny didn't seem to get burned by it. It figured the ailment just wouldn't stick for her. In any event, her Feebas had yet to take a hit pardoning his own from confusion, and Tanya hadn't gotten one of her Toxic's to stick yet. How much easier the fight would've been if she'd brought along Bon-bon or Macaron dawned on Vivienne. They weren't weak to Steel type moves and neither could be poisoned all thanks to their fun typing.

"Licorice, why don't we give them a Tackle?" Vivienne called. The physical move would hurt the Happiny a fair bit more than the special moves had.

Action: Feebas used Tackle!

Hitting herself once again was probably the last thing that was holding her back. What didn't help was that the Feebas attacked the Happiny as well, causing the pokemon to fall to the floor. Though she wasn't knocked out, Pippa began to wail really loudly, tears flowing down her face as she rolled around on the floor. Tanya's eyes widened with fear and she put her hands in her hair, apparently completely at a loss about what to do.

"Umm.. ahh.. uhhh..." Was all Tanya could manage to form, her feelings of wanting to win the battle and wanting to take care of Pippa conflicting. However, it looked like she wasn't going to even get to command her to do something as Pippa began to stand up and randomly spew out flames, fire bursting out of her mouth periodically as if in an attempt to hit the Feebas. She probably should've considered Pippa's temperament before teaching Pippa Flamethrower.

Action: Pippa attempted to hit Feebas with Flamethrower!

The Happiny seemed to lose her cool, and began spouting flames at Licorice; Tanya was standing there, dumbfounded, and simply let the little demon do whatever she wanted. Fortunately, the spurts of flame didn't actually hit the Feebas and the Happiny wound up attacking herself again. Vivienne grinned slightly; the Confusion that had plagued her Cottonee was tormenting the Happiny well enough now. Between the attacks to herself and the hits the Feebas had gotten in, Vivienne wondered just how much longer the Happiny could stand. Still, she couldn't let up now.

"Douse those flames with a Scald!" The Kalosian called to her Feebas; the fish swelled slightly before releasing a jet stream of steaming water at the Happiny.

Action: Feebas used Scald!

That last hit was finally enough. With a combination of being attacked repeatedly by herself alongside the Feebas, the Happiny finally ran out of energy and knocked herself out. Rubbing the back of her head sheepishly, she returned Pippa to her pokeball, laughing awkwardly as she got out another pokeball.

"I'm sorry about that." Tanya apologized. "I'm not really used to dealing with baby pokemon." Throwing out her pokeball, Tanya released Wally, her Munchlax. Sitting on the floor, he looked slightly confused by what was going on, looking towards his trainer for any clue.

"Body Slam the Feebas." Tanya told the Munchlax. Nodding his head, he slowly got up and began running towards the Feebas. When he got close, he used his power to slam into his enemy with his chest. After the attack was over though, he went back to his side and laid down, unaware of the scenario he was in. Tanya chuckled to herself, unable to bring herself to lecture the Munchlax.

Action: Pippa the Happiny has fainted! Wally the Munchlax has been sent out! Wally used Body Slam!

When she saw the Happiny go down, Vivienne grinned slightly to herself. They were even!

Of course, the moment that Tanya sent out a Munchlax and ordered a Body Slam, that changed. It was a one hit knock out as the cute little tubby Pokemon slammed into her little fish. Feebas weren't exactly noted for their defenses or their offenses (considering the only thing that helped Licorice beat the Happiny had been her confusion and poor physical defenses.) Vivienne pouted slightly as it dawned on her she only had one Pokemon left to Tanya's two, one of which sported a super effective move on her little Creme.

"Come on out Creme!" She called, releasing her own baby Pokemon from his Pokeball. The Togepi blinked once, then twice, before sighing at the Munchlax. "Use Charm!" Vivienne called.

The Togepi tilted his head and blinked before giving a pair of puppy-dog eyes the world would envy. Only an animal would be able to attack him at full power after that, or a Pokemon with a rare ability of course.

Action: Feebas fainted! Sent out Togepi!

"Awesome move Vivi!" Tanya called out, getting excited when Vivienne sent a Togepi out and used a really smart tactic against her Munchlax. "That's one of the moves I have on Daniel, my Lopunny. That move was probably the thing that got me to the semi-finals of the Master's Tournament!" Vivi's moves had been showing off quite a lot of potential and once she trained up, she looked forward to using her more experienced pokemon against Vivi.

"Still, I'm sure as hell not going to lose!" Tanya triumphantly declared, grinning widely. "Let's keep up the offensive! Body Slam again!" Letting out a little sigh, Wally pushed himself up and began running towards the Togepi, throwing his body at the tiny pokemon and trying to do as much damage as he could, even if his offensive output was severely limited. Tanya had other reasons to use Body Slam though. After all, paralysis is a nice status effect if she could get it off.

Vivienne listened to Tanya's compliment with a smile on her face. She didn't have the same sort of confidence in her battling abilities as the other girl seemed to, but the Kalosian hoped she was going to give the other girl a run for her money. "Thanks." She called back over.

When Tanya declared her intent to win, Vivienne's smile tweaked slightly. She was losing the battle at the moment, it was true, but hadn't she also been in a tight spot in her battle against Ginnifer? The Munchlax went in for a thankfully weakened Body Slam that Creme didn't seem too phased by; still, wasn't there a chance of paralysis with that move? Vivienne narrowed her eyes slightly. She couldn't tell if the ailment had struck her Togepi or not. The best way to tell was to play it safe, right?

"Creme, let's give 'em a Sweet Kiss from us, okay?" Vivienne called. If she could get the confusion to stick on the Munchlax, she might be able to buy herself a smidge more time to get the ball rolling back in her favor.

The paralysis was inflicted and it looked like it was already doing work as the Togepi couldn't act. Confusion was going to be an extremely annoying status ailment to deal with in the long run. She should know considering that exploiting status moves was one of her favorite things to do. Knowing that she had to take the opportunity while it was still available, Tanya decided to go with the strategy that wasn't broke.

"Body Slam again!" Tanya shouted, jumping in excitement as the Munchlax went into action again. Running quicker and quicker, the Munchlax collided with the Togepi, trying not to let the harshly reduced attack get in the way of victory. It was a hard thing to deal with, but Wally could still put in the damage, even with such reduced damage.

So the paralysis had taken effect? Vivienne cursed the fat-ass Munchlax in her mind. Her poor little baby couldn't move as he got Body Slammed once more. Even with the reduced attack of the Munchlax, the damage was going to start adding up soon; it was how her Feebas had taken down the Happiny in the first place.

"Creme, use Wish!" Vivienne called. If the Togepi could pull of the move successfully, it was only going to be a short time before he was back in (nearly) top form. Of course, that was only if the Togepi could fight through his paralysis.

Tanya grinned smugly when the pokemon was paralyzed once more. She would feel sorry for Vivi, but she was in a battle right now and she was gaining the very obvious advantage. She crossed her arms and chuckled softly, getting into the euphoria of the battle. There was no mercy to be spared now.

"Get it while it's down. Body Slam!" Tanya exclaimed, knowing that her victory was now basically ensured. Wally began running, moving faster and faster before throwing his body forwards, colliding with the Togepi and inflicting as much damage he could on it in a single slam. His hesitance to fight due to Charm meant that his attacks were doing less, but if the Togepi couldn't act, it meant that the difference didn't matter as much.

Action: Wally used Body Slam!

The paralysis had taken it's toll on her Togepi once more, and Tanya hadn't let up her attack. If she was a better person, Vivienne might've complimented Tanya on her victory already and just called one more Wish to let the tub of lard get the final hit in. She wasn't that good a person though.

"Creme, let's use Flamethrower, okay?" Vivienne called. Would it matter in the end? Probably not. But if she could at least get one attack through and force the other girl to take the Munchlax to get healed it might be worth it. Hell, if the burn could stick she might even laugh.

Oh. The Togepi knew Flamethrower as well. Wally looked completely unhurt by the attack, only taking very minor injuries. At this point, Tanya wasn't sure why she did that. It wasn't like Togepi were known for their offensive prowess or anything and if she used Sweet Kiss to confuse the Munchlax, there was a very faint possibility that she could win. Then again, that was probably a very unlikely scenario.

"While unrefined, we might as well Body Slam again." Tanya said, knowing that the battle was won. Wally began running, throwing his chest outwards and colliding with the Togepi a final time. Hopefully that would be the end, she didn't know it wasn't like the Togepi could do much against the Munchlax anyways.

Creme's Flamethrower went through, though it didn't much before the other girl called another Body Slam that managed to put the Togepi out of commission. Vivienne returned the Togepi, "Come on Creme, you deserve a rest." She glanced over at Tanya for a moment. The girl might talk the talk of being in Contests, but her battle style with the Munchlax was hardly pretty, was it?

"Congratulations." She said, offering a small smile. Vivienne hated Tanya in that moment, more than she'd hated anyone in the Academy probably. Her hopes of having a rookie winning streak were crushed now, weren't they? Still, one win and one loss wasn't that bad was it? If she had half of Amethyst's confidence, she might've said something that reflected the way she felt, but Vivienne held her feelings back. She was going to lose with more grace than the other had shown in her attacks at least.

The Kalosian turned and left, threading her fingers together behind her back. There would always be next time, right? If she ever saw Tanya across the battlefield again, she'd at least know to expect a battle full of status ailments and stupid looks on the other girl's face.
