Baby Fight! (Battle v.s. Vivi)

Tanya sat idly in the arena, Flect floating in front of her and Pippa sitting next to her, looking innocently up at Tanya. It was time to train again and Tanya wondered who she would be facing this time. She probably spent more time here than she should, but she enjoyed battles too much to resist the opportunity. Plus, with her ever increasing number of pokemon to train, it wasn't like she was running low on options.

Tanya faintly traced the floor of the arena, sighing to herself as she waited for her opponent to arrive. It wasn't like she was expecting anyone, but she still was a little bored with how things were going at the moment. No matter though, once the battle begun, her boredom would be sated and she'd be pumped and ready to go.

Vivienne had come back to the arena that day for a little more training, and she was hoping she'd give a better show than her first match against Ginny; the other girl had nearly swept her team with a Numel, until she'd gotten lucky with a few Energy Balls from her Swirlix. She'd decided to bring a team that she'd mainly practiced with in lieu of using in outright battle for a bit of experience. When she entered her side, she was a little surprised to see the girl standing on the other side.

"Hey Tanya!" She called, waving to the other girl. This was going to be interesting, wasn't it? Tanya was a lot more experienced with this sort of thing than Vivienne was. She could only hope the other girl hadn't planned on using her Rapidash or her Serperior. There was no way Vivienne could take on an opponent that powerful, was there? She bit the side of her slightly before releasing a Pokemon from it's ball, "Let's do this Eclair!"

Hearing a familiar voice, Tanya flicked her head up, beaming when she saw who her opponent was. "Hey there Vivi!" Tanya called out, waving as she pushed herself off from the floor. Pippa clung to her leg, knowing that a battle was probably going to happen. Tanya herself was eager to see what her opponent had on offer. The Cottonee caused her to think back to her match against Adolfina and how incredibly annoying her Whimsicott was.

"I'm gonna start out with Flect." Tanya stated, the Bronzor floating to the middle of the arena, blankly staring at the Cottonee. "If you don't mind, I think I'll start. Flect, start things off with a Confuse Ray!" Tanya commanded, feeling comfortable in the environment she was in. Small yellow orbs began to spiral around the Bronzor, the balls spinning faster and faster before flying towards the Cottonee, spinning around the pokemon before exploding in her face, confusing the Cottonee.

Action: Flect the Bronzor sent out! Flect used Confuse Ray! Cottonee is now confused!

Vivienne gave a small nod as the other girl decided to go first, with her Bronzor. The Pokedex in her hand informed her it was a psychic and steel type; that steel typing was going to make things difficult for her team, no doubt about it. Two thirds of her team happened to be weak to steel type moves, after all. When Tanya made her first move with a Confuse Ray, Vivienne bit the inside of her lip. She'd recently managed to get her Feebas to learn the move, and she fully knew the effects. She could take her chances with the Cottonee's abiltiy to attack, or she could try switching out and letting the Bronzor hit her next Pokemon with some attack.

"Eclair, please try to use your Energy Ball." Vivienne called hopefully. This wasn't going to be much of a match if she couldn't get a single attack off, but at least she'd get some more battle experience.

Tanya grinned slightly when she saw the Cottonee hit herself. She personally knew how annoying confusion could be and she wanted to exploit it as much as she could. Knowing that the momentum in her favor, she fully intended to ride this wave while she could. She remembered that Fairy types were weak to Steel type moves. She was glad that Flect knew a Steel move.

"Attack with Heavy Slam!" Tanya commanded, watching as the Bronzor began to spin. It span faster and faster, eventually looking more like a frisbee than anything else as it barreled into the Cottonee, smashing into the pokemon with all of its might and weight. Tanya looked unafraid, clenching her fist and smiling at the battle in front of her.

It just had to know a steel type move, didn't it? Vivienne's eyes narrowed slightly. Even with a super-effective hit on top of the Confusion damage, the Cottonee was still standing, which could only mean one thing: the Bronzor lacked some oomph behind it's attacks. Still, if Tanya kept this momentum going, Vivienne was in for an uphill battle. Pouting slightly, the Kalosian could only hope she could land a hit with the Cottonee before the Bronzor knocked her out. So much for Adolfina's supposedly superior breeding the poster had advertised.

"Eclair, please try to use your Giga Drain!" The Kalosian called out; if the Confusion took effect again, it was going to leave the Cottonee with practically no health at all and easy pickings for the Bronzor.

It seemed luck was in her favor. The Cottonee hit herself again and that was enough for her to gain the definitive advantage for this battle. Tanya wondered for a moment if Vivi had a way to counter the Bronzor. If she didn't, Tanya realized that the girl was probably going to have a very hard time. Still, keep up the momentum while she had it.

"Flect, Heavy Slam one more time!" Tanya ordered, the Bronzor spinning faster and faster until it was spinning at a breakneck pace, throwing itself at the Cottonee another time with all of its weight. It was really now that Tanya was appreciating just how good the Steel typing was. Tanya definitely needed to consider if she should use Flect in the long term.

Vivienne watched Eclair go down and sighed; her first Pokemon hadn't even returned a hit on her opponent, and that damned Bronzor was floating around like it was nothing. Maybe she should've spent more time training Eclair before her battle debut, or maybe the fight just wasn't in the cards for her. Still, she was going to be damned if she let Tanya win without a little retribution. She returned the fainted Cottonee before producing another ball.

"Come on out Licorice!" She called, releasing her Feebas from his Pokeball. "Let's give them a taste of their own medicine, shall we? Use your Confuse Ray!"

When the Feebas used the move, he flopped into the air before twisting sharply; specks of light glinted off his scale before coalescing over the opponent to inflict a confused status.

Victory! She managed to get the first pokemon down. And she managed to do it without taking any damage as well. It seemed that Vivienne was not going to give up, something that she was thankful for. Indeed, she was pretty impressed by how she used the Feebas to confuse the Bronzor, its eyes spinning around in its head as the confusion started to set in.

"Nice tactic!" Tanya called out, fully allowing herself to have fun now. She couldn't underestimate what Feebas had, considering the fact that it knew Confuse Ray. Still, she felt comfortable keeping Flect in for some time, at least until she could find an opportunity for Pippa. "Try to break through the Confusion and use Confuse Ray on the Feebas!"

If the pokemon didn't hit itself, the Bronzor would begin the light show, small yellow orbs spiraling around it before shooting towards the Feebas, spiralling around the fish pokemon before exploding in their face, confusing them.

Tanya's compliment made Vivienne echo her smile back. Sure, she'd lost her first Pokemon to a type disadvantage and Confusion, but maybe this time around she'd be able to show Tanya a little bit of her own battle experience. Mirroring the Bronzor's earlier tactic to confuse had been a success, by the way it damaged itself, but Vivienne knew it was only a matter of time before it either got lucky or broke through the Confusion. She needed to keep the pressure up.

"All right Licorice, use Scald!" Vivienne called. The Feebas's body swelled slightly before he opened his pursed lips; a jet stream of steaming hot water was aimed straight for the Bronzor! If she could burn it, then it's physical moves were going to suffer. The incremental burn damage might be nice to wear it down too.

A little dissapointed that the Bronzor hurt itself, Tanya still smiled as the battle progressed. Though the pokemon shot out burning hot water at the Bronzor, the pokemon didn't seem to be that affected by the attack. In fact, it was able to easily shrug off the damage that the Feebas could give due to its defenses and resistance to water attacks.

"Let's try again! Hit the Feebas with a Confuse Ray!" Tanya commanded, realizing there was a distinct possibility that the Bronzor would just hit itself. The pokemon had solid defenses though, so she knew it could take a beating. The process began again of Flect trying to summon the yellow orbs of confusion to spiral around it and then spiral around the Feebas, another attempt at confusion. All she needed to do was get confusion onto the Feebas.

The Bronzor's Confuse Ray was effective this time, which meant that there was a chance that Licorice would hurt himself if she called an attack. At the same time though, switching him out for Creme was a little too risky with the Bronzor's Heavy Slam; it had done a number on her little Cottonee after all. In the future, she'd need to reconsider her lead Pokemon. Using a Fairy right out of the gate had cost her not only the fairy in question, but the viability of send out another to try fighting the Bronzor.

"Licorice, let's try to Scald it again sweetheart!" Vivienne called, hoping their attack would be successful and the burn would stick.

"Nice job Flect!" Tanya called out, pleased that the Bronzor managed to get the confusion in. Not knowing how long the pokemon was going to be confused for, as soon as she saw the Feebas hitting itself in confusion, Tanya knew this was the opportunity to switch up her strategy.

"Get out of here Flect!" Tanya called out, returning the Bronzor to its pokeball. Even though it took some damage, it was still in good fighting condition. Looking down towards her Happiny, she slightly rubbed the top of her head. "You're up, Pippa." Tanya said, lightly nudging her onto the battlefield. At first, Pippa looked hesitant, clinging onto Tanya's leg as if scared of the Feebas. With a little bit of comforting though, Tanya eventually managed to get Pippa onto the battlefield, knowing that she could take any special attack the Feebas had well.

Action: Flect has returned! Pippa the Happiny has taken its place!

The Bronzor was out, waiting in the wings and free of Confusion to boot; Tanya chose to send in the meek Happiny when she had her chance. The option to swap out Feebas for Togepi was obvious, but with that mirror still lurking as a threat Vivienne was hesitant to send her own baby out just yet. For the time being, the girl would only hope that the Feebas could break through his Confusion long enough to attack.

"Licorice, please use your Confuse Ray!" Vivienne called. To her delight, the confusion that the Bronzor had inflicted him with dissipated as she shouted the command, and the Feebas flopped up, twisting in midair as it released a wave of yellow lights to confuse the Happiny.

She had hoped the confusion would last longer. Unfortunately for her though, it didn't look like things were going to be that easy. It seemed to break free of the confusion that was set in by the Bronzor and Tanya knew that she was going to confuse Pippa. It was what she would do and she knew how annoying Confusion was as a status ailment. Pippa tettered on the spot, the confusion have an obvious effect on her.

"Come on Pippa, try to use Toxic!" Tanya called out, trying to spur the Happiny on to break through the confusion that she was under. If she managed to break through the confusion, Pippa would spit out a dark purple liquid that flew towards the Feebas. Once the liquid got close to the Feebas, it would vaporize and form into a gas that would surround the pokemon, badly poisoning it if it was breathed in.

Action: Pippa tried to use Toxic!
