The battle dome was starting to feel like home. After winning the tournament here and the other various battles he had he really enjoyed coming here. Today was mainly a training day since he was set to battle Argent, a rather new student at the Academy. He hadn't ever formerly met the guy but knew he was from the Lava Dorm and that was pretty much it. Though a battle was a battle, and some of his weaker Pokemon needed training and this was the best place to do so. It seemed he was the first one there so Benji took his time and walked slowly over to the arena. He could hear another battle going on somewhere and was tempted to go watch but didn't want to miss his own. He yawned quietly and leaned against the wall, he hoped Argent wouldn't ditch him like Oleg had last time.

Today was the day Argent was finally going to do battle with another student. Argent handled himself well in previous wild encounters, and not to mention his mission at the pier, but this was different. The boy had never faced off against another person. He was getting a tad anxious as the boy he was going to face had actually won a tournament in the very dome they were to battle in. Argent recalled the boy's name to be Benji. Even though his mind was set on the battle, he couldn't help but wonder how Benji looked. Argent's daydreaming made the walk to the dome seem very fast. He entered and took a deep breath. What was to happen in this battle? Firstly, Argent had to locate his opponent. With his only eye, he squinted in search of Benji. He found another male at the opposite side of where he was. As Argent made his way towards him, he waved his arm in the air to get his attention."Hello? Are you perhaps Benji? I've heard about your victory right in this very dome!" Eventually, Argent was ale to get much closer to Benji and was able to get a good look at his face. "I must confess, your prowess as a battler is only proceeded by you looks!" Argent chuckled. How lovely it was to face such a good looking fellow.

It took a few minutes but when he heard the door open he let out a sigh of relief. Pushing off from the wall he glanced over to see who he presumed was Argent coming over. The first thing he noticed was the boy was missing an eye, well he had an eyepatch so he assumed he didn't have one. It actually looked kind of cool and for a split second he thought what he would look like with one. Though even with that the Lava Dormer was sure a looker, he wouldn't be surprised if girls swooned over him. Benji smiled and waved back as Argent was in earshot. "Yeah that's me," He grinned and laughed before continuing, "I don't want to brag, but yes I won here not too long ago. I guess it spread around, I really didn't think many people cared." He was pretty humble so he wasn't going to start bragging about it in the least.
Benji's dark eyebrows rose with surprise at Argent's next words. He could feel his cheeks heating up slightly and he looked away trying to hide it. Well the girls were swooning over him but it was obvious that he was probably not interested in them. Benji nervously cleared his throat and smiled at the redhead. "Uh...thanks," he wasn't sure really how to respond. "You...er, well you aren't too bad looking yourself." He finished the sentence in a rush and tried his hardest not to blush again. What was wrong with him? It was just a compliment, why was he getting all nervous around this guy. He shuffled his feet a bit and then let out a deep breath that he had been holding in. "Ready for the battle? I don't mind talking but we could always do that afterwards." He was glad to be changing the subject because he wasn't sure what to do with these feelings he was having. "I'll be sending out my Riolu first," he took a ball off his belt and after clicking it his Riolu Jasper appeared in front of him. "Who will you send out first?"

It was both admirable and adorable to see Benji humble himself in front of Argent. It warmed his heart just a little to know good hearted people were at this academy. What made Argent even more intrigued was the reaction Benji made from the compliment. Argent giggled lightly. He was unsure if he was shocked by the randomness of it all or if it was the context of the statement that made the other boy turn red, but Argent was enjoying the reaction nonetheless. "Of course, we came here to battle anyways. Though, you seem like a wonderful person to talk to." Argent simply decided to keep the flirty jabs rolling. He, at least, was enjoying it. When Benji released his Riolu, the eye patch lad pondered on who to send out. He really didn't have a counter for a fighting type. "Hmm...I see...perhaps Jerry would like to tussle?" Argent reached behind himself and nabbed his Pichu's pokeball. He clicked to release the little mouse from its spherical home. The Pichu looked up towards the Riolu and put a fisticuffs stance towards its opponent. Argent snickered at the sight. He thought about how Benji was reacting to his compliments, so Argent concocted an idea. "May I be so bold as to put a wager on this match? If I were to somehow miraculously beat you, would you go on a date with me?" Argent winked his one eye at the other lad. Though the odds were against him, if he were to win, Argent might just snag himself a boy today!

Benji kept the blush away this time and smiled softly. "You can tell that when we just met? You must be good at reading people." He scratched the back of his head, still a bit unsure what to say. He could tell Argent was flirting with him...and he didn't mind in the least, he just wasn't used to this butterfly feeling in his stomach. He'd have to try to hide it though, this wasn't the time was it? Benji's eyes lit up when Argent sent out a Pichu. That had been one of his first Pokemon and now Finn was a Pikachu, he wondered how this little one's personality would differ from his. Argent must not have anything that was good against a fighting type, not that it mattered though, this battle was for experience after all. Or was it.
When Argent made a bet, Benji stopped breathing for a second. His deep blue eyes widened as he just stared at the Lava dormer for a moment. Was he being serious? He kind of seemed like a jokester but he couldn't be sure. Even though he tried his best the heat came back on his cheeks and he patted them with his hand to stop it. "Is it getting hot in here?" He tried to make an excuse but he was sure Argent knew he was trying to cover it up.
After a moment Benji got a hold of himself. He was usually very cool headed and he had no idea why he was acting and feeling this way. He had to get himself together! His mind was racing but he tried his best to grin and lightly spoke. "Perhaps even if I win we can still go on one..." His eyes lit up teasingly and he gave Argent a thumbs up. "Let's do this. Mind if I start?" He glanced over at Jasper who nodded back at him. "I hate to do this...I'll say sorry in advance." He actually felt rude to do this to someone less experience than him...but a battle was a battle right? "Jasper use Earthquake." His Riolu took a moment then began to jump up and down as the ground began to crack and shake violently. Poor Pichu.
Action: Riolu used Earthquake. BP of 100 (x2 damage due to Pichu's weakness). 100% Accuracy.

Argent stifled a gasp and covered his mouth as the horrendous attack on his Pichu ended with Jerry lying on the ground incapacitated. He was so sorry for his poor Pichu. Being it was his first battle, Argent was not prepared for such a one-sided event to occur. How was he supposed to know that Riolu had Earthquake? Argent had brought nothing that would fair well against an earthquake. Argent gloomily returned Jerry into his pokeball. "Come on out Reginald! Go for an Outrage!" The Growlithe appeared and immediately following orders went for a tackle infused with what seemed to be red, dragon-like aura surrounding the dog. Argent knew poor Reginald was not to survive an earthquake, so he decided on an all or nothing strategy at this point. The words were indeed not in his favor.
Returned Pichu. Sent out Growlithe. Growlithe used Outrage (BP of 120 with 100% accuracy)

Benji frowned at the look on Argent's face and he felt terrible for what he did. It didn't help that he sent out a Growlithe who would easily fall as well. Scratching his chin he thought for a moment. If he downed all of Argent's Pokemon in one hit would he be mad at him? Would he not want to ever see him again? It was his first battle after all and maybe it would traumatize him to the point of avoiding Benji. Of course he didn't want that, not in the least. He was interested in this boy, though he didn't want to make it obvious he was going easy on him. "Let's try another move, use Force Palm." Jasper looked at him confused, expecting to be ordered to use another Earthquake. But he shrugged and did what he was told anyway. Rushing forward he lunged at the Growlithe aiming a palm punch at it.
Action: Riolu used Force Palm. BP of 60. 100% Accuracy.
1-3 Growlithe is paralyzed. 4-10 is not.
