Fairies fighting Phantoms [Battle/Alice]

Vivienne entered the Battle Dome field she'd been assigned. She'd entered a pool of trainers looking for some experience for Pokemon in hopes of working on her team. The recent evolution of her Feebas aside, the Kalosian girl had a lot of work to do with some of her Pokemon. She registered her team with a soft sigh before turning to look across the way and see what she was going to be dealing with. All Vivienne could hope for would be the chance to get more battle experience and not have to deal with someone else's status ailments getting the best of her.
When she noticed the streak of red hair, the face clicked. It was Alice, that girl she'd met at the Contest Club and art demo that Nia had set up. She smiled and waved. "Hi Alice."

And soon, she was in the Commons where she had to find her way to the arena in hopes of gaining some experience for her team. There seemed to be some memories of battling in the arena, including that ill-fated battle that she had learned from and therefore, it would be imperative to strengthen her team first. Well, there was one battle that hadn’t been concluded, but the outcome was clear that it was a tie…probably. Hopefully that wouldn’t happen again, but ties were usually rare in these kind of circumstances. After registering her team, she could hear some of the trainers calling out attacks for their Pokemon to use. And when she arrived inside the arena, she found a most familiar sight from the artsy get together with Nia and from the Contest Club meeting. ”Hello. It’s nice to see you again.”
[Party: Morticia the Gastly, Isabeau the Doublade, Hans the Ralts]

"It's nice to see you again." Vivienne called. She bobbed her head to the side slightly at that, her pigtails bouncing along. "If you don't mind, I'd like the first attack....I didn't get to move first in my last match." She blushed slightly at this. Her last battle against Tanya hadn't gone very well; the Bronzor the other girl had used had been a pain, and when Creme had been paralyzed the Togepi hadn't been able to get more than a single attack off. "But to make it fair, I'll call out my Pokemon first. That way you can pick what to use. Sound good?"
She produced a Pokeball and released a Togepi onto the field. The baby Pokemon blinked a few times, not even letting out a noise. "This is Creme. I'm hoping to get him a little experience today."
The Kalosian could only hope Alice wouldn't come out of the gate swinging at the Togepi, especially if she wasn't using a frailer young Pokemon herself. Togepi were surprisingly sturdy given the fact they were considered Baby Pokemon, but against an evolved Pokemon? She wasn't sure if her little Creme would last too long. That being said, they'd been working on moves to use in tandem.

Sent out Togepi

”Sure. That’s okay with me.” Once Vivi had said her words, the pink-haired girl had sent out her Togepi. The baby Pokemon was rather cute and she wasn’t sure if the Togepi could actually withstand attacks this much, but he probably had strong attacks to back up his low attacking power. Producing an occupied Academy Ball, she sent out her Gastly as the gassy ghost let out a cackle upon being let out. ”I’m hoping I’d give Morticia some experience to make up for her humiliating losses.” The Gastly seemed to be durable as a paper towel, considering that her defenses were poor in the slightest. Even so, she did have high offenses to make up for her lack of powerful defense, but she was still fragile. The pink-haired girl could get the first move, considering that she probably would have an advantage nonetheless.
Action: Sent out Morticia the Gastly.

A Gastly eh? Their family was semi-common around her hometown, and Vivienne and her old Klefki had dealt with them on more than one occasion. The most dangerous thing that the Gastly could do would be to go for a status ailment or use a Poison-type move if it had one....Vivienne bit her lip for a moment. She'd seen the battling style of two different trainers at that point, Tanya and Ginny. Ginny had come out swinging full-force and lost her tempo when Vivienne's Mawile had crushed her team, but Tanya had been a challenge. The Wave Dormer had combined strong attacks with status ailments to turn the battle in her favor, and Viv had to wonder if she'd even been much of a match for the other girl in the long run.
"Creme, use your Psyshock!" Vivienne called. The Psychic-type move was fairly powerful, even coming off of Togepi's less than stellar attacking stats. The worst part? It dealt damage based on the opponent's physical defenses instead of special defenses. Would it be a one-hit knock out? With the Gastly's weakness to it, you never knew...
--------- Action: Togepi used Psyshock! 80 BP off of 40 Sp.Atk, x2 Weakness hitting Gastly's Def. in lieu of Sp.Def.

And in one fell swoop, the gassy ghost had been defeated by the Togepi’s Psyshock. Talk about some big ouchies for a poisonous ghost. Returning the gassy ghost back inside her Academy Ball, she couldn’t help but wonder if she should use Doublade next. It would not be fair to use a second stage Pokemon against a base form, so she might have to save that for later. ”Alright. Take the stage, Hans.” Producing another occupied Academy Ball, she released the Ralts outside where he looked around before resting his sights on a Togepi. ”Start with Psychic!” The Ralts used his psychic powers to throw the Togepi around to attack. Even though it was the second time that the gassy ghost did not get any experience, it wasn’t all lost. The ghost would need to train against opponents that did not have high physical attacks and super effective attacks for that matter.
Action: Morticia fainted. Sent out Hans the Ralts. Hans used Psychic! (BP: 90 + STAB, Accuracy: 100%)
Special Defense Lower: AOP5tcz81-10 If 1-3, special defense is lowered. 4-10 does nothing. 1-10

When the Gastly went down in one hit, Vivienne grinned in spite of herself. Creme hadn't been able to do much against the Munchlax in his debut, but knocking out an enemy on his first strike seemed to suit his demeanor a little better. Alice took the loss of her Ghastly in stride before sending out a Ralts; the little fairy type was adorable, and Vivienne had one of her own. Against some opponents, the power of a Psychic attack from a Ralts would be enough to be a one hit knock out. Togepi, on the other hand, could take special attacks with relative ease. Creme weathered the Psychic blast and pouted a little.
"All right Creme, let's use your Ancientpower!" Vivienne called. The attack wasn't the most impressive one in Togepi's arsenal, but it had a shot of giving the little spike-ball Pokemon a stat boost to all of his stats. Given his ability, the odds of that happening were increased.

It was not long before the Togepi had summoned some rocks and threw them at the Ralts. Hans tried to use his hands to shield himself from the attack, but in the process, he had suffered a bruise and that made him recoil in pain. ”Hans, use Shadow Ball! The Ralts used his hands to create a dark orb of shadows before firing it at the Togepi. Perhaps, she would had used Psyshock if Hans could learn it, but alas he did not learn the move yet. He was more focused on Special Attack than with physical ones, but that did not excuse the way that the Togepi had weathered the Psychic attack. If Hans had been defeated by a mere baby Pokemon, then it was time to put that emergency plan into action where Steel would be effective against fairies.

The blob of darkness collided with the Togepi and sent him reeling back. Even if the Ralts hadn't been capable of knocking him out in one hit or two, it was obvious that the Togepi wasn't going to be able to take another strong attack and stand. Vivienne narrowed her eyes. She could trade him out for another Pokemon and give Alice the opportunity to attack twice in a row, or she could try for another move. The Ralts hadn't seemed too damaged by the Ancient Power, but that didn't mean it was in perfect health. Perhaps another attack to cut into it's steadily decreasing health?
"Creme, let's give him a Flamethrower!" Vivienne called. It was a pretty strong fire type attack, and the chance of burns that came with it was nice to boost, especially with Serene Grace in tow.

Action: Togepi used Flamethrower! 90 BP, 20% Chance to burn due to Serene Grace

And the Togepi spewed flames at the Ralts and even worse, it had inflicted a burn on the psychic Pokemon. He was not in good health, but he had to try his best not to disappoint his trainer during the battle. ”Hans, let’s give Crème another Shadow Ball! The Ralts staggered as he tried to generate another ball of shadows with his hands and fired it at the Toggepi. And if the next Pokemon sent out had attacked with a Poison-type move, he was a goner for sure. And there was still the emergency plan, but even that would actually kind of fail if the opponent had a powerful move to counter the steel menace. She would just have to wait and see if the Ralts could defeat the baby Pokemon or not, but it was unlikely since the little baby actually had some good defenses.
Action: Hans used Shadow Ball! (BP: 80, Accuracy: 100%)
Special Defense Lower: 9QYVVsWL1-10 if 1-2, special defense is lowered. 3-10 does nothing. Serene Grace increases odds by 20%. 1-10

The Ralts's Shadow Ball did the Togepi in, unfortunately. "You were great Creme!" Vivienne called when she returned the fainted Togepi, and she meant it. Her sweet little Togepi had proven himself a capable battler when fortune favored him. She'd just need to develop a plan to stop an enemy's status ailments; the ones she inflicted? Those could stay. The battle was most assuredly in her favor, but Alice still had one Pokemon waiting in the wings the minute the Ralts went down. She'd used a Ghost/Poison type in Gastly and a Psychic/Fairy type in Ralts so far...what else could she have up her sleeve? It was moments like these that Vivienne wished she'd actually meet another trainer with a set focus.
"Let's give Hans a little kiss goodnight Marmalade!" Vivienne said, releasing another Pokemon. The Roselia, evolved from the Budew that she'd carried around everywhere when she first arrived at the academy, huffed a little at the sight of her opponent. "Use Sludge Bomb!" Vivienne cried. It was a powerful attack, coming from Roselia's rather high special attack and with the same type attack bonus to boot. This was going to be painful.
The Roselia giggled before pointing her blue rose at the Ralts; the petals wiggled vaguely before a volley of small purple globs of muck fired at Hans! If they made contact? The results would be explosive.
--------- Togepi fainted! Sent out Roselia! Roselia used Sludge Bomb! 90 BP off of 100 base Sp.Atk; 100% Accuracy; 30% Chance to Poison rendered moot by burn status.

The Togepi was down, but the next Pokemon that was sent out was none other than a Roselia, a Grass/Poison type. She had proceeded to shower the Ralts with a poisonous sludge which had done him in. ”You did a good job, Hans. Get some rest.” The Ralts was returned back inside his Academy Ball and she produced the final occupied Academy Ball and released the dual swords outside where she blinked emotionlessly at the Roselia. ”Isabeau, let’s give this Roselia a taste of your Shadow Claw.” The Doublade slashed at the Roselia while the attack had left a trail of ghostly energy in its wake. Needless to say, this plant might have something else up in her sleeve, but the dual swords wouldn’t know that unless the plant had something that was super effective, not that the Roselia might be able to touch it.

Marmalade's first attack against the Ralts was also the last attack it took. The Roselia giggled slightly as the little psychic fairy fell, and Vivienne almost felt bad for him. Marmalade wasn't the nicest of Pokemon. Maybe it was just desserts, but Alice responded with full force. A Doublade? They were native to Kalos, and Steel types to boot.
Shit shit shit.
Vivienne only had a few options for dealing with steel types, and while she had a few moves she could use against it this went from being a battle in her favor to something entirely else the minute that the twin blades sliced at her Roselia with the Shadow Claw. It drove the smaller plant backwards, stumbling and tumbling. Marmalade struggled up, her eyes narrowing slightly into an unhappy grimace. The Roselia liked causing pain, not feeling it.
"Marmalade, let's try our Extrasensory!" Vivienne called. The Psychic type move might not get the same boon from being the same type as the Roselia, but it carried it's own insidious purposes.
------------- Roselia used Extrasensory! 80BP, 10% Chance to Flinch!

Thankfully, the Extrasensory that the Roselia had used did not cause the flinching that would’ve cost Isabeau a move to attack. And the plant itself had some decent moves to complement her arsenal, but she lacked the defense to even weather some of the twin sword’s attacks. “Isabeau, use Shadow Claw again!” The twin swords slashed at the Roselia once again while a trail of ghostly energy was left in its wake. The plant seemed to be unhappy that she had gotten hit by the twin sword’s blades, but she was quite a challenge. The next Pokemon would probably have a move that could put the twin sword in danger, so it was kind of a good idea to probably have a move that attacked first. The twin swords seemed to be focused on the battle entirely and had shown no emotion while trying to take down the plant.

The second Shadow Claw did the trick, sending the Roselia reeling; Marmalade fainted before she even hit the ground, and Vivienne sighed a little. She didn't have too many Pokemon with strong physical defenses, and those she did have that might have tanked the attack she'd left in favor of others for training. The lead she'd established over the other girl all but gone, Vivienne could only grit her teeth a little and hope she'd be able to do something to turn the tides in her favor slightly. She returned the Roselia and produced her final Pokeball.
"Palmier, let's go!" She called, releasing a Snubbull onto the battlefield. The very first thing the fairy-dog did was glower at the Doublade; Intimidate activating to lower the twin sword Pokemon's attack was only going to go so far. They needed something else if they hoped to last more than a hit or two.
"Use Fire Fang!"
The Snubbull's mouth filled with flames as she launched herself directly at the Doublade. Even with it's high defenses, the super effective Fire Fang would do more than a little ping damage. If one of it's secondary effects activated? All the better.
----------- Roselia fainted! Sent out Snubbull! Snubbull's Intimidate lowers Doublade's Attack 1 Stage
