Fairies fighting Phantoms [Battle/Alice]

The plant went down smoothly and the Doublade would’ve done a victory dance if it weren’t for the next Pokemon to come out and it was a pink bulldog of some sort. The Snubbull managed to lower the twin sword’s attack and there was an idea to use Swords Dance to get the attack back to normal, but that would mean wasting a turn and therefore getting the twin sword knocked out. And the fairy dog bit onto the swords with fire wreathing her fangs. Nonetheless, the female Doublade looked visibly hurt by the Fire Fang. “Retaliate back with Iron Head, Isabeau!” The twin swords used her blades to smash onto the fairy dog with metallic force which would’ve been a super effective hit on the fairy dog. Actually, that attack would be mitigated by Intimidate which was quite frustrating on the twin swords’ behalf.

Even with Intimidate's effect, the Snubbull took heavy damage from the Iron Head. Between what the Roselia had managed to do and Palmier's first attack, the Doublade still looked in better shape than the Snubbull. Should she have paralyzed it with Thunderwave in the first place? Had she called the wrong move at the wrong time? It was something to mull over, that was for certain. For the time being though, Vivienne had to focus on the battle.

"Palmier, let's use your Fire Fang once more!" Vivienne called. Even if they managed to burn it or make it flinch, the Steel-ghost wasn't going to go down in another lone hit. Was she going to lose her second match in a row?

The next Fire Fang from the fairy dog had inflicted the accursed burn on the twin swords as she was once again hurt by the attack. Never mind that Swords Dance would restore that attack, the Doublade had her attack decreased and to rub salt in the wound, she just got burned. Even so, her STAB attacks should do some damage to the Snubbull although it would be mitigated. ”Again, use Iron Head!” The twin swords smashed onto the fairy dog with metallic force again and it was now turning into a desperate game of luck. It was a matter of using luck to actually cause some kind of miracle to happen in the battle if the Doublade had what it took to survive the entire battle. She was not feeling well due to the burn, but that did not stop her from doing her best.

Vivienne bit her lip as she watched the Iron Head slam into her Snubbull. Would the burn and attack reduction be enough to let her bulldog weather it? She winced a little as the Snubbull went flying and settled in a cloud of dust. Holding her breath as it cleared, the Kalosian trickster could only pray to Arceus. Her prayers seemed to be answered, for when the dust settled Palmier was standing, just barely. She was covered in scratches and bruises from the Doublade's attack, but she was still in the fight.

"Are you okay Palmier?" Vivienne called. She had half a mind to end the battle then and there, just as Ginny had done by running out and disqualifying herself. She'd never seen one of her Pokemon hang on by the skin of their teeth before, and it was frankly a little upsetting. The Snubbull turned and gave her a look before nodding once. Out of all the fairies, the little Snubbull was probably one of the most combative she had. After all, Palmier had knocked out two steel types before. She wasn't about to give up that streak without a fight.

Another Fire Fang, and hope beyond hope that it would flinch? The Doublade had taken some damage from Roselia and two of the fiery bites so far, even a little burn damage to boot. Judging by how it tanked the Fire Fangs so far, another one wasn't going to cut it.

They had another option though.

"Palmier, let's wrap this fight up with your Earthquake!" Vivienne cried. Even if the Doublade survived the attack, there was no way the Snubbull was going to do the same if Isabeau retorted with another attack. The Snubbull started hopping from one foot to the other; each time her paw landed, the earth shook a little harder until she did a final hop with both feet and caused the ground of the battle dome to hurl itself upwards in a powerful Earthquake!

After tanking two Fire Fangs from the little fairy dog, there was a change in tactics as the pink-haired girl had her Snubbull use an Earthquake on the Doublade. It was a powerful attack and Isabeau wasn’t going to win this one unfortunately. Since she was part Steel type, she would have probably fallen to the powerful Earthquake and she still had taken the burn damage. After a while, she fell to the ground and was apparently unconscious. And after a few minutes, she awoke from her unconscious state and her entire frame began to glow in a white light. After the light had dissipated, the twin swords were nowhere to be found, but a golden sword holding a golden shield had taken her place. It was clear that she had evolved for the sake of not trying to disappoint her trainer further. ”You did a most excellent job and you evolved at that. I’m proud of you.” Isabeau blinked happily in response and all the pain that she felt in the last round had been alleviated by her trainer’s praise. Alice turned to the pink-haired girl and spoke. ”Congratulations on your victory. I had a lot of fun battling with you and your Snubbull did a good job thus far.”

Action: Doublade fainted. Vivi is the victor.

"We....we did it." Vivienne said, shocked that her Snubbull had managed to pull through. The injured Snubbull turned, limping a little back to her trainer. With the battle over, Vivienne darted onto the field, picking the wounded fairy dog up in a gentle hug. "You're amazing Palmier." She whispered. It was funny, how a little praise could do the heart and mind such good. She glanced over at the other girl, watching the evolution of the Aegislash. She whistled a little. If that thing had evolved during the battle, it probably would've played out differently.

"Thanks." Vivienne replied to Alice with a nod. She returned the Snubbull to her Pokeball, already knowing her next stop was going to be the nurse's office. "Congrats on your evolution."

The Kalosian turned and left, bobbing slightly. Even if it had been a tough fight, she'd made it through. Maybe she could do this in the end after all?
