Con Artist versus Artist?

Vivienne had slid a small note under the other nature dormer's door the day prior and half wondered if she'd show. The painter hadn't expressed much enthusiasm for battle so far, for the school even, so the Kalosian was a little intrigued to see if Nia would accept the challenge. It was a friendly little sparring match, and considering Vivienne had been at the Academy longer she'd decided to bring a few of her younger, less experienced Pokemon to even out the playing field between the two. Her Pokemon were all standing around her, as ready for battle as they'd ever be: Flan, the Ralts, was the newest team member; Creme, the Togepi, was sitting and yawning to himself slightly; and the team was rounded out by Palmier, the Snubbull who'd managed to take down a Doublade in her last battle.
When Nia entered the battlefield, the other girl offered a smile.
"I'll start with Flan." She said, the psychic fairy stepping onto the battlefield with ease and grace. You couldn't deny the potential of the Ralts line.

Nia had donned quite the frown on her walk to the dome. There had been a note. From Viv. Viv, who she already told she wouldn't really fight that much. But nooo, she had to ask her. She didn't want to skip this. Would have been incredibly rude to do something like that to a friend. So, she continued to hold this frown with her as she entered the arena, nudging her head at Kristoff. "Unleash Maya, please."
Kristoff looked almost scared for a moment before complying, lifting one ball from Nia's belt before releasing... The Maya.
The she dragon looked around for a moment. The battlefield. She sniffed her nose, her eyes suddenly completely opening as the Axew stared at the ralts. "Ookay. Assurance, I guess."
And with that, Maya was already sprinting furiously towards the female ralts, the palm of her left hand glowing with dark energy as she then slammed it against the forehead of the ralts.
Action: Sent out Axew. Used assurance, BP 60, Rivalry adds 25% attack power to that, plus the base attack of 87.

Vivienne arched an eyebrow slightly at Nia's decision to use a Dragon against her team. It was the first time that she'd gone up against one in a battle, but at least the other girl knew enough to not bother with a Dragon type attack. The Assurance coming off of Axew's attack was powerful, but fortunately not powerful enough to knock the Ralts out; some people tended to forget that fairy types resisted dark type moves. Between that fairy resistance and the psychic weakness to Dark moves, it was just neutral damage. If it had been super-effective? Vivienne had a fair idea that the Axew probably would have knocked out her little Ralts in one hit.
"Flan, why don't you give that Axew a Psychic?" Vivienne called. Even if Flan wasn't going to stand through another attack, she wasn't about to let Nia's dragon get through the fight unscathed. She half regretted that she didn't have a fairy-move on her Ralts to really give the Axew a taste of pain in return for harming Flan.

Maya let out a furious snort as all kinds of things suddenly attacked her mind, her whole head hurting hard. She wobbled around for a moment, snapping her jaws and snarling, the pain in her head slowly clearing. Nia furrowed her brows at this. "Oh wait. Psychic and Fairy. Oh Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah." She wobbled around for a moment. "Juse use assurance again."
Maya snarled angrily, staring daggers at the Ralts as she then proceeded to leap into the air, her palm glowing with the dark energies she used before as she then slammed it right at the forehead of the ralts again.
Action: Sent out Axew. Used assurance, BP 60, Rivalry adds 25% attack power to that, plus the base attack of 87.

The second assurance did Flan in, and Vivienne narrowed her eyes a little at the dragon taking down her fairy with a dark type move of all things. Then again, who could honestly debate the raw power of most dragons versus most Pokemon, let alone her little Ralts? Ralts weren't exactly awe-inspiring until they hit their final form in the end, after all. Vivienne returned Flan to her Pokeball before nodding to her Togepi.
"Creme, let's go in there and show them just what you're made of." The Togepi waddled out onto the field with a small sigh before staring at the Axew. The Ralts' had managed to get a single attack in, but who knew if the Special Defense drop had been applied? In either event, the very ability that had spelled doom for her Ralts made fighting the Togepi that much more difficult for the Axew; Rivalry's effect would weaken her attacks rather than increase them, and unlike Flan, Creme had the full Fairy type resistance to Dark moves.
"Use Nasty Plot!" Vivienne called. The Togepi narrowed his eyes, his mind filling with several terrible fates for his enemy as his Special Attack skyrocketed.

Nia sighed, tilting her head at the Togepi. It was a he, if she remembered correctly. So here came the thing about Maya that annoyed her almost as much as her rage at all other female pokemon.
Maya begun fawning. She tilted her head at the togepi, which to her was the manliest thing in this whole dome. She instantly wobbled over to the togepi, letting out a coo as she then proceeded to blink her eyes rapidly, as if trying to show him she had beautiful eyes. Yes. She was just doing that. "Oh for... Taunt, I guess. Then return to whatever you're doing." And so she continued to do just what she was doing earlier. Drooling over the togepi.
Action: Used taunt.

The change in disposition was evident the moment the Axew realized that Creme was a boy. Vivienne's eyebrow raised just a little when Nia called her Taunt; so much for maximizing her offense or getting the Axew confused before taking the fight to her. Still, if the Ralts' Psychic had been effective at it's job...you never knew how much damage an attack might do until you tried it, right? If Nia wanted to force her hand and make her go for the attack, she'd just have to oblige the other girl.
"Creme, let's use Ancient Power!"
The Togepi, being fawned over, was probably a little more annoyed looking than in love. He wouldn't have accepted an order besides for an attack either way thanks to the Axew's Taunt. His body flickered as several glowing stones surrounded him before launching at Maya; they were larger and more numerous, thanks to the Nasty Plot's help.

Maya didn't care at all that this HANDSOME egg was throwing rocks at her. Infact, she was partly jumping towards them, of course to get said egg's love and affection. And she gained it, in a way? Or well. She just got a large stone to the face and fell onto the ground, slowly reaching for the love of her last ten minutes before collapsing. "Thank cupcake, she's gone. Call her back and then send out Klavier."
Kristoff nodded, calling back the dragon as he then sent out Klavier the Timburr. He looked around for a moment before grunting, doing a short salute to the togepi. "Alright, rock slide." Klavier nodded, grunting as he suddenly threw his block of wood high above as it slammed against the dome roof, some chunks falling off at the Togepi.
Action: Maya's out, sent Klavier the Timbur. Used Rock slide, 75 BP, add to that sheer power's 30% power increase and 80 Base attack. Will roll for accuracy.
Note: Won't roll for flinch due to sheer power.

When the Dragon went down, Vivienne was a little disappointed. She'd hoped to get her Togepi a little more time before Nia's Pokemon were switched, but it couldn't be helped. The Timburr that came out swinging did so with a pretty strong Rock Slide; the Togepi weathered the attack fairly well, but Vivienne didn't want to risk him getting hit too many more times by that move.
"Creme, use Psyshock!" Vivienne called. She wasn't sure if he'd gotten enough of a boost from his lone Nasty Plot to take it out in one hit, but the Timburr wasn't going to be happy if he remained standing after the blast of purple and black psychic energy connected.

Togepi used Psyshock! 40 Base Sp. Atk raised 2 Stages. 80 BP, x2 Effectiveness for weakness off of Timburr's Physical Defense in lieu of Special Defense.

Klavier let out a loud grunt as the energy blasted into him, collapsing onto the ground as he then barely got up, groaning. He stared right at the togepi, growing the smirk of a true warrior as he then looked to Nia. She simply tilted her head, not really sure what to do here. She shrugged. "Ookay. Rock slide again. You can do it."
Klavier simply smirked. That would do for motivation. He once more picked up his wooden block, grinning as he then threw it up to the air, it once more hitting the roof as more pieces begun to fall.
Action: Used Rock slide, 75 BP, add to that sheer power's 30% power increase and 80 Base attack. Will roll for accuracy.

Vivienne narrowed her eyes when the Timburr didn't fall to the psychic attack. This wasn't good at all, was it? Another Rock Slide nearly downed her Togepi, but Creme pulled through, albeit battered and bruised. The Togepi's smirk wasn't quite as proud as the Timburr's warrior smile, but he had confidence in his own abilities in the end. Flan might not have been able to do much in the battle, but Creme? He was going to swing victory his trainer's way.
"Once more, give that Timburr a Psyshock from us!" Vivienne called. The Togepi formed the orb of psychic energy before launching it, crackling with raw power, straight at the Timburr. Vivi really needed to work on getting the Togepi a Fairy type move sometime. If he had one, there was no way the Timburr would've taken more than one shot.

And so went down Klavier. After the timburr fell over Nia simply sighed, nudging her head towards the field as Kristoff then slowly waddled over there. It was clear Kristoff was dead scared at this point. It was the field. He didn't belong in the field, he belonged somewhere next to Nia doing her hands on stuff! Kristoff kept shivering. "Alright... Uh... Magic leaf."
Kristoff simply continued shivering as suddenly green, sharp leaves popped up all around him, glowing with pink energy and floating around before suddenly shooting themselves towards the togepi, homing in on it.
Action: Klaviers out, sent in Kristoff. Used Magical Leaf, 60BP with backing of 45 SPA base.

Creme took the Magical Leaf, but he wasn't ale to stand after it. With the Togepi knocked out, they were both down to a single Pokemon a piece. Kristoff was Nia's hands, but that didn't mean Vivienne could go too easy on them. She glanced down to her Snubbull, who stepped forward.
"This is your first time meeting Palmier, right?" Vivienne asked, "Palmier, say hello."
The Snubbull glowered and growled at the Ralts; Intimidate taking effect to cut his physical attack, despite the uselessness of the endeavor.
"Why don't we wrap this thing up nice and quick Palmier?" Vivienne said with small giggle. "Play Rough."
The way the Kalosian uttered those two words, whatever was in store for the Ralts wasn't bound to be pretty. It was the most powerful physical fairy move known to man, and Snubbull got STAB off of it. The Snubbull's intimidating demeanor switched as she bounded forward, her arms outstretched as though to hug the Ralts. If the hug hit though, Kristoff was going to find himself tossed to the ground in an explosive wrestling match with the Snubbull.

Kristoff closed his eyes as the Snubbul hugged him, not moving at all as he was wrestled, simply shivering in fear. After the whole thing was over, Kristoff instantly ran over to Nia and hid behind her leg, shivering a bit. She simply let out a sigh, shrugging her stumps in the air. "Happy?" She then proceeded to walk past her, staring at the familiar door. She still had no idea how to open it.
That frustrated her more than anything else here at the moment. This one door was something that had challenged her... She proceeded to kick it in frustration.

Well, well. It seemed some things could phase Nia's cool after all. It wasn't anger per se, but annoyance in her tone when the Ralts was taken out in one attack. She'd hoped he might be able to still function as her hands when everything was said and done, but the injuries he'd sustained from Palmier apparently ruled that out. Before turning to exit out of her own side of doors though, the Kalosian did what might have been the most conscientious thing she'd done the whole battle. Releasing her Floette, she commanded it.
"Praline, please use your Psychic to open Nia's door."
The flower fairy popped the door open before she exited with her trainer on the opposite side. Was Vivienne going out of her way to not have to talk to Nia so soon? Perhaps. She didn't exactly want to rub too much salt in any wounds...yet.
If she'd fucked up whatever sort of friendship the pair had been forming, oh well. Maybe the first sparks of a rivalry could do her neighbor a little well; if things settled back to normal? All the better.
