Personality: Elena, at first glance, seems like an individual without feeling. Her facial expressions have little, if any, clues that she's feeling anything, much less what it is she's feeling. And the fact that she doesn't really talk much doesn't make matters any better. In this way, she is rather difficult to relate to, and most people may consider her to be cold, aloof, and mean. That is farther from the truth than people tend to realize.
Elena can appear to be cold at times, but that's just her way of trying to think things through. She uses her brain almost too much, and she'd rather think than talk. She doesn't care if people understand her, so she sees no real value in trying to explain herself. She can talk, but chooses not to half the time, unless talking with something or someone that can't talk back, or that she can't understand, like a Pokemon.
Despite thinking a lot, Elena isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Well, not in everything, nessecarily. Elena often gets confused when asked certain things, and she doesn't always approach it the best way either. Of course, she thinks she knows, so she'll try to answer the questions in some way anyway, even if she's actually wrong. Elena hates admitting when she does something wrong, and instead changes the subject whenever possible.
Elena is also rather gullible and can be tricked into doing the most embarrassing and silly of things, even bad things if one can convince her they're not bad. She can be tempted to do bad things willingly because she can be very cunning and mischevious. She's street smart, but not very book smart.

History: Elena was born in the Unova region in Castelia City, but her family moved to Cerulean City a few weeks later, so she doesn't remember ever being in the Unova region. Elena was a bit of an outcast in the bright, lively Cerulean because they didn't see past her strange, emotionless face and only saw her flat gaze. Few people would even try to approach her, but most people that could've been potential friends tried to stay away from her.
Elena's private life was full of abuse. Not physical abuse, per say, but a lot of mental abuse caused by unkind words from her parents. They'd stated their opinions so very clear that she grew to dislike them very much. She loved them, and they loved her, but they also greatly disliked each other and didn't care what they said or did. Just as long as they didn't have to look at each other.
Elena was, however, able to make a few friends. They were outcasts themselves, but for different reasons. They had the patience to tolerate Elena's strange behavior, and she actually found herself talking to them. They became really close, and wouldn't stop talking to each other, not that they wanted to. Many topics were spoken between the friends. There were three kids that became her friends in total, and though not exactly what you call a group of heroes, they still made a mark in each other's lives.
One topic that was brought up many times, was Pokemon. In fact, it was the one thing that all of them agreed that they all like. Granted, they didn't all like the same Pokemon, but they liked the Pokemon none the less. Elena didn't state her opinions much, just listened and thought about what everyone else said. But she wasn't slow to answer them when they asked what kind of Pokemon she'd like to have! Hey, even she could get excited about some things.
One day, they all decided once and for all to go on journeys and to all support one another when they did. Elena was ten when she vowed to support them. However, by her fifteenth birthday all of her friends were gone and she still hadn't even begun her journey. She hadn't so much as set eyes on any Pokemon outside of pets. She wanted to see a real Pokemon. A Pokemon in the wild, prone to attack anyone whom they viewed as a threat. And she wanted to be the one to catch it.
Elena told her parents that she was going, and to her surprise they did very little to stop her. For the first time in as long as she could remember, she never heard her parents say how proud they were of her. It didn't do much for her since their relationship was so strained already, but she did appreciate the little good it caused her to see in her parents.
From the moment she left, she knew she had to get to Pallet Town as quickly as possible, but then she had over heard many people spreading rumors about an academy for people that wanted to become Pokemon Trainers. She didn't want to go all will-nilly on this choice. Elena wanted to be the best Trainer she could be, so she bought a ticket to sail to Harmonia Island, and aply for the academy.
