Battle Practice [Astrid/Battle]

Yuu let out a sigh as he consumed another pocky stick. He hated speaking with people, but if he is going to participate in battles here, it was inevitable that he had to speak with some people. He placed up a request for a four on four double battle. With the size of the student body, it was a matter of time until they come by and accept the request.

"You all ready?" Yuu wasn't exactly impressing anybody with his current team. They're all underevolved and their battle experience is minimal. He stood up from the bench he was resting on and looked over at his opponent. He took out a fresh stick of pocky and placed it in his mouth. "Hello there. I assume you're the one who took up the request?" Yuu readied two Academyballs. "You take first move." He might as well do some scouting. He threw his Pokeballs into the air, sending out Karamasu and Tate.

[Astrid Sherinian]

"Yep, that's me," Astrid said, taking her spot on in the arena. Her opponent, well, she didn't know a lot about him. He seemed pretty new, and Astrid got the impression that he wasn't all that sociable, but a battle was a battle. She did hope that both of them could enjoy it, at least. "Name's Astrid. Nice to meet you," she said. She then pulled out two academy balls of her own, throwing them out onto the field. A Skrelp and a Lillipup emerged, waiting for directions. Although, it was pretty clear right from the start that something was up with the Lillipup.

And...this guy was letting her take first move? Oh, that was dangerous. Venalgue alone was already getting quite strong, and letting Astrid take the first move with that? "Well...okay. Nasty Plot! Sludge Wave!" Astrid called out. The Lillipup got something resembling a devious grin on its face, which further suggested that it may not bee what it seemed. Meanwhile, the Skrelp stirred up a wave of poisoned water and sent it at both opponents.

"Yep, that's me," Walking on in is a girl whose black hair is styled like twin tails. Judging from her uniform color, she was from the same dorm he was. "Name's Astrid. Nice to meet you," She sent out two Pokemon, a Lilipup and a Skrelp. A Unovan and Sinnoh Pokemon respectively. Yuu pushed up his glasses. "Well...okay. Nasty Plot! Sludge Wave!"

Nasty Plot? When Yuu was reading about it, he doesn't remember Lilipup needing such a move. Weren't they more physical orientated? Hold on, could they even use Nasty Plot in the first place? His time to think was cut short when both of his Pokemon were hit by a large wave of sludge. By the time the wave stopped Yuu noticed that Tate was in terrible condition. Karamasu was not doing much better. However, Yuu can salvage this.

"Tate use Icicle Spear on Skrelp! Karamasu use Swagger on the Lillipup!" The Shellder opened her mouth and launched five large shards of ice over at the Skrelp and Karamasu smirked and waved the tentacle over at the Lillipup as if to ask the opposition to 'bring it on'.

Did he see what was going on? Astrid couldn't tell. He certainly did seem to pause to think about it, at least, just in time for his Pokemon to get hit by the wave of sludge. To Astrid's surprise, both of them remained standing, although the Shellder at least was in terrible shape. He kept them both in, however, directing the Shellder to hit Venalgue with a minimally effective barrage of icicles and the Inkay to...oh, great. Swagger.

The apparent Lillipup started growling and snarling angrily after the taunt, clearly wanting to lay into the Inkay in response. "Try to stay calm, there. It's just a squid thing, hit it with Night Daze and we can move on." That seemed to be enough to get faux-Lillipup to settle down. At least, settle down enough to fire off a blast of overwhelming dark energy at the Inkay. Of course, now the secret was completely out. At least, assuming that this guy knew what a Zorua was.

"Alright, help him out, Venalgue! Thunderbolt!" Astrid called out. Through means she wasn't actually sure of, the Skrelp managed to call down a bolt of lightning in response, aimed squarely at the Shellder.

"Try to stay calm, there. It's just a squid thing, hit it with Night Daze and we can move on." This confirmed it, the Lilipup was not what it seemed. The dark type attack was launched and it knocked out Karamasu. "Alright, help him out, Venalgue! Thunderbolt!" Yuu's eyes widened as he watched the purple seahorse started to charge up electricity.

"Da-" Yuu watched Tate get slammed by the thunderbolt. Both of his Pokmeon were unconscious at the same time. This mean he only had two where as his opponent had four Pokemon fresh. Yuu returned both of his Pokemon. "Daichu, Hua!" He sent out his Pichu and Oddish. "Daichu use Thundershock on that Skrelp, Hua use Grassy Terrain." Daichu was a glass cannon so Hua has to set up. Hua started to glow green as the ground covering the battle field began to grow grass.
