Icy Rematch [Battle Vs Annie]

Akihito had been needing to back into the battle arena and get more training done. He had signed up for a random opponent. He enjoyer doing that because it challenged him to figure out the right strategy on the fly. He was debating on who to use, most of the one he used most were evolved and not permitted in a basic match. So he had to chose who hr wanted. It wasn't like he didn't have options, but he had too many options. His Fletchling was going to be one, then he had to chosen two more. He racked his brain trying to think on who he wanted. Making his way to the assigned field he was still making up his mind. Reaching the door he had to make a choice, grabbing three balls he registered them and entered. He saw no one was there yet so he started to think of a strategy. Releasing his Fraxure that would sit in the stands and cheer him on.

"We can do this, right Drago." Aki asked the Fraxure, Drago nodded smiling. "Thanks buddy, now go sit in the stands and cheer really loud." Drago nodded and made his way to the stands. Aki pulled out his first pokemon and started tossing the ball to himself.

Akis team: Penelope the Fletchling, Ophelia the Espurr, and Rex the Tyrunt

Annie needed to train her Pokémon, and she was starting to feel obligated to act like a little bit less of a recluse. Signing up for a random battle had sounded like a sufficient solution, at least for now.

It went without saying that Dušana was going to be on her battle team. The Snorunt was overdue for her first Trainer battle, and Annie was now making a concerted effort to get her starter to evolve. Since this was to be a choice-of-three battle, Annie could not include all the Pokémon she wanted to get experience for on her team, so she had selected the ones she thought would do best against the widest range of possible opponents.

The resulting team would probably fall apart if her brother so much as looked at them, since Senka was ineligible and both her Marin and Oscar, the Seel she had traded with another student for, were manifestly unready for a proper battle, but she figured that she had a pretty good chance of dealing with anyone who didn't rely on Fire-types. Three Pokémon meant she had a better chance than in the two-on-two tournament.

Annie entered the battle area, and looked across the room to see whom she was fighting.

It was the same boy who had been her opponent in the tournament. She stood stunned for a moment, then gathered her wits and took her proper place. If he still relied on Fire-types, she was pretty much doomed, but otherwise the outcome was not inevitable either way. And whatever happened, she had her dignity to maintain.

"Here I am. Shall we begin?"

Aki was tossing the pokeball for Fletchling up and catching it waiting for his opponent. He head the door open, he didn't notice who it was until she got closer. Then he recognized her, it was the girl he beat in the first round of the tournament. Annie was her name, her little brother was in his dorm also his newest friend. He bit his tounge, not wanting to mention Robin to her. She might not even know he was at the Academy. In his shocked state he missed the pokeball as it came down, hitting the ground it released his Fletchling and she flew out ready to battle. "Well guess my first pokemon is my Fletchling" Aki said with a slight chuckle. "Its great to see you again Annie. Hope all is well with you." He looked closely as her face, he now saw the scar Robin was talking about. "Ready when you are."

Either Akihito was in a good mood, or he was just a happy individual. Annie was having a bit of trouble figuring out which. She had barely spoken to him during their tournament match, though she vaguely recalled him being pretty genial at the end of that fight as well. Maybe he was just really friendly. She was still rather in a cold and shy state, however, so she only nodded politely in response to his words.

She had already planned which Pokémon she was going to use first, and she saw no reason to deviate from that plan. The Fletchling was the perfect target, too. It was nothing at all for her to send Dušana out into the battle.

A single word from Annie directed her Snorunt's first move. "Hail."

And the hail began to fall.

The girl seemed very detracted over something. She was very different from the last matched they had. Aki was taken off guard that her Snorunt hadnt evolved since the tournament, but neither has a couple of his. But nonetheless he was ready for anything she threw at him. It seemed that Penelope was too, she braced herself for the attack that Annie was going yo give to her Pokémon. But when she started off with Hail, Aki was confused. But she could he setting up for a powerful ICR attack for just trying to slowly grind the health out of his Fletchling.

Aki smiled as the Hail fell from onto the battlefield. He then contemplated what he wanted to do. He had one fire move but fletching wasn't a fire type until she evolves. So the only other option was Acrobatics. "Penelope, use Acrobatics." Penelope started to preforme stunts and such.

Action: Fletchling used Acrobatics. Power doubled because holding no item.

Annie smiled slightly to herself, seeing how Akihito was confused by her choice of first move. It was true enough that she had other options--waiting for Dušana to faint and be replaced by Tomislav, whose ability would have a similar effect, for instance--but that one setup move would let her first Pokémon benefit from her healing ability. Plus, Annie had bought that Icy Rock for a reason, and she wanted to test it out.

The Fletchling's acrobatic attack hit hard; Annie grimaced slightly as the powerful Flying-type attack connected and Dušana reeled briefly. It lasted only a moment, though, before the Snorunt regained her equilibrium with some help from the restoring hail.

"Frost Breath."

Dušana needed nothing from Annie except the name of the action, and that having been given, the Snorunt responded enthusiastically. The icy move would certainly be enough to remove the Fletchling from the battle, assuming it hit.

"Merde." He said in Kalosian when the Snorunt thrashed his poor Fletchling in one hit. He recalled the tiny bird and looked at the Snorunt. She was just standing there like she didn't do anything. The hail replenished some of her energy. Aki recalled his poor Fletchling and switched pokeballs. If this was the kind of power he was looking at he was in some serious trouble. His third pokemon was at a serious disadvantage when it came to Ice types. He had a feeling that Annie will get her rematch win in the current battle.

Taking out Ophelia's ball he held it out and clicked the button twice. The tiny gray and purple feline appeared and meowed. She was ready for a battle. Aki stood pondering the what he should do. "Ophelia, use Psybeam" Aki commanded the Espurr. Ophelia's eyes glowed a bright blue and a beam shot from her body.

The comment Akihito made sounded like Kalosian to Annie, but she didn't know the word. (It was not because she had forgotten it, either. Her parents did swear in front of her when she was a child, but... not in that language.) The sense of his meaning seemed to carry just fine, though. Annie couldn't help but smile more broadly, seeing how well Dušana was doing. "Good job," she whispered to her Snorunt.

When the Espurr appeared, Annie was delighted. Dušana should have little trouble with this one, though the little Pokémon was not at full health. Had this been the first Pokémon Akihito had sent out, Dušana would have easily defeated it with health to spare, but no matter. Annie did have three.

The Espurr's Psybeam was fairly powerful, but Dušana held on and was again renewed slightly by the falling hail. Annie nodded her approval.

"Shadow Ball," she ordered casually, feeling somewhat more relaxed now. And Dušana complied, with a ghostly blob of shadow forming to be hurled at the Espurr.

Annoyed slightly that the confusion didnt trigger. Though he was surprised when the Snorunt actually knew a move that would take a good chunk out of Ophelia. Aki couldn't do anything but watch as the ball of engery raced toward his Espurr. He was already getting ready to recall her. As it hit he readied the ball, but when she bounced back and was ready to go again he was happy. It made him have hope in the battle again, maybe he could pull it off. But maybe now with the third Pokémon he had but he had to try. As Ophelia regained her composure "I met someone you know he other day." He said to Annie. He didn't want to give it all away at once. "Ophelia, give her another Psybeam" A beam of light and energy shot from the Espurrs hands at the Snorunt.

Akihito's comment confused Annie. Someone she knew? Though she was far from the friendliest person at the academy, she had gotten to know quite a few people since she had come—enough that it seemed entirely unremarkable to her that he should have met someone she knew. Why would he even consider it worth remarking on? Unless... no, he was probably just trying to get her attention. She should speak a bit more; it might be coming across as rude that she was so quiet.

"Who is that?" she asked, watching the Espurr recover from Dušana's attack. The second Psybeam was too much for Annie's Snorunt, as she had expected it would be. That was all right; Dušana had done an excellent job, and she did want to get more experience for her other Pokémon as well.

The white-haired Trainer recalled her Snorunt and pulled out her second Poké Ball. "Your turn, Tomislav," she called out as the Snover materialized. "Wood Hammer." It was a risky move, seeing as it came with a fairly hefty recoil, but a powerful one--the most powerful Tomislav had. Hopefully, he could handle the Espurr, so that she could keep Zlatan at full strength to deal with whatever Akihito had waiting in the wings with his third Pokémon. She didn't want to take more risks than necessary, in case that one was a Fire-type or something equally dangerous.

Letting out a sigh seeing he Snorunt go down. Ophelia let out a meow of joy knowing she did well. But the Hail that was falling hit her. The next pokemon Annie let out was another Ice, type. He knew he wasn't going to win this because he didn't bring any fire types. Which was stupid on his part, but he had no idea he was going to be battling a pure ice trainer. The Snover unleased the Wood Hammer on Ophelia between the Shadow Ball and Hail, now the Wood Hammer the poor Espurr could take it. The feline fell, recalling his pokemon Aki spoke. "Yes, his name his Robin. I believe he said he was your brother."

Aki finished speaking as he pulled his last pokeball out. Holding it out and releasing the Tyrunt. "Alright Rex, use Crunch" Rex let out a roar and ran at the Snover.

"His name is Robin. I believe he said he was your brother."

Annie flinched, feeling as if she had been struck in the gut by those words. She knew perfectly well that, since she was once again attending the same school as her brother, she would likely at least hear of him, but she still hadn't been prepared for this. With the battle all but forgotten, she stared at Akihito, regret and incredulous hope flickering across her face. Someone had seen Robin.

It was several seconds before she realized that her Pokémon was waiting for her orders. With a shake of her head and a muttered apology, she took stock of the situation as best she could. "Tomislav, use Wood Hammer," she ordered, her voice still sounding distracted. She wasn't sure whether the recoil from this iteration of Wood Hammer would knock her Snover unconscious, but he certainly wouldn't be able to remain standing after another hit.

That dealt with, she returned her gaze to the Fire Dormer across the way. "Is my brother well?"
