After a long maiden voyage across the many seas of Hoenn, after being carted around from bus to bus in Mavro, he was finally there. The place in which he'd call home for the next two years or something like that. Wasn't too shabby, as expected for the accommodations of one of the top schooling facilities in Hoenn. The outside of it was probably the best part, all decorated and stuff, while the inside was still pretty good with those light blue walls. Either way, taking a jaunty stroll toward the male dormitories and down the end of the hall where his room was, he couldn't quite complain. That was until he opened his room to see just how bland it was, stepping inside and groaning. " Uggggh! This color sucks!" Opening his mouth to chastise how his new room would be, it wasn't any different from the colors that painted the whole dorm house. Now, don't get him wrong, blues are his favorite, but when it comes to decor, he has a personal preference. Which reminds him, he left all of his stuff outside and now has to carry it in. Although, setting up everything now means taking it down later when he gets everything repainted. If he can get everything repainted. There better be someone to talk about that to, otherwise he's gonna have a hard time relaxing in his own room. Whatever, at least it belonged to him until someone decided to claim the room as well. Which reminded him, that bed over there on the other side of the room now also belonged to him. As he looked around the room more and more, ideas started to form in his head, causing him to nod in appreciation of what was given to him. This was a good moment to get everything done, get his feng shui on. Better earlier than later, otherwise he'd never get it done at all. Taking a slight sprint back to the front of the dorm house, he'd start to get his things. Or, at least all of the things he brought with him, having split it up between himself and one of his pokemon, Makuhita. Seeing it near the sandy path toward their new living accommodations, he'd cup his hand around his mouth in preparation. " Yeh, big guy! Do some work!" Shouting over at his pokemon, what he was doing may've not been ethical, but it was effective. The fighting type was handling his whole care package, unsure it some of it would even fit through the door. For himself, it was his premium, ultra-special surfboard that no one but him could touch and a stereo boombox. Both resting on his shoulder, he'd take a good walk back to his room, setting both down, looking back into the room. Something was missing from his imagination, looking around for the inspiration on what that was. It hit him once he put down what he was carrying, nodding his head in strong agreement with the boombox being placed down. He was missing his tunes, boy. All good feng shui-ing needs tunes, boy. Squatting down, he readied himself to become the worst dorm mate in history, getting ready to blast his preferred music. Going through his cassette track to pick just the right song, squinting to see what he'd written down on it. Seeing just the right one, his favorite jam of all time right there. Popping it in, he'd assume everyone would know the sound, but no one would definitively know the name. Cranking up the audio to full blast and leaving it right outside his dorm room, he skipped to just one he wanted, almost announcing his presence with it. As the guitar chords starting to amp up, he'd even start to play along in air guitar. Ladies and gentlemen, Dick Dale's Misirlou

"You hear that Daniel?" Tanya asked her Lopunny, the pokemon nodding his head and giving her a confused look in response. Coming back from the library, she was expecting the dorms to be how they usually were. Quiet and peaceful, with the sounds of the water providing the only backdrop that Tanya felt was necessary. Almost immediately, she realized that that probably wasn't going to happen.
Crossing her arms and looking displeased, Tanya realized that someone had probably moved in. Well, it was likely that something like that happened. Unless someone decided to grow massive balls in the last few days, she didn't imagine that anyone she knew from the halls played music. Especially music that was loud. And not classical.
Spurred on through a mixture of curiosity and mild annoyance, she followed the sound of the music, moving in the direction where the sounds would get louder. As they got closer to the sounds, Daniel frowned, not enjoying the sounds that were being released. Tanya on the other hand didn't mind too much. It wasn't the type of music she was used to, but it wasn't awful. Still, it did disrupt the ambiance of the dorm.
When she realized that the sounds were coming from the boys dorm, Tanya hesitated. Was she really up for going in there? Was there a rule for girls going into guy dorms and vise versa? While she did pause, the music still pumped loudly and it only took a short while before realizing that she had to find out. Hopefully she wouldn't break a rule or something.
Still sporting her black eye from her encounter with Amanda before, Tanya eventually managed to find the source of the music. The boy that accompanied the boombox was confirmation of her thought that this was done by someone new. He looked decent enough, though she made her opinion of the music known with her displeased look. "Hey, if you want to play your music, all power to you, but you didn't have to make it that loud." Tanya said, turning off the music and crossing her arms. Daniel did the same behind her, looking at the boy in a judgmental manner. "In any case though, I guess you're new. Just a heads up for next time. I doubt the Wardens appreciate loud music and stuff."

There was a moment there, where he was just totally into himself and nothing else could stop him. Unless you're a small chick messing with his stereo, then you're totally stopping everything ever. As soon as the music was off, his dancing stopped and he looked back over to who was disrupting him. The irony could've killed him if he understood what irony was. "Duuuuuuuuuude! You do not mess with-" He stopped short as he saw her face, noticing that black eye. She probably wasn't in the mood to be taught a lesson in dude-ism and hoenn surf culture 101. Making a slight 'ooh' sound as he noticed the wound, he'd shrug off the grave offense of her turning off his stereo for the moment.
"Sup, brah? Need some ice, brah? Got hit by a krabby, brah?" He'd automatically start on the wellbeing of her face instead of what is and isn't allowed in these dormitories. He didn't really care to be honest, some might call this evading an argument. Either way, she didn't look happy, moreso upset than someone with a black eye normally looks. Putting his mind to work for once since he's got here, what could he do to make her feel more. . . mellow. Nodding to the voice in his head, he'd start up again, "Alright, I know what we'll do: We'll get you some ice, get some concealer, no one'll know. Then you can rock out too, dig?" Continuing to blow off what the actual problem was, he'd look down the hall to see his pokemon struggling with the haul.
"C'mon, Big guy! You can do it, get over here!" Seeing as he was a rather careless thinker, his mind readily went from one thing to another. Like how he was gonna decorate his room, finding this a good time to ask all the questions he's had since he got this room. Looking back over to her in earnest, he didn't even seem at all phased any more by her black eye, just accepting that it was there. Usually, you're supposed to feel bad about these sorts of things, but they just happen; life's life. "You know where to get some paint, brah? Anyone on this island good artists? I was thinking about getting something drawn up on this wall, what do you think?" He Continued to ask his completely inappropriate questions about what he wanted rather than what she was telling him.

Oh boy, he's a surfer dude. Growing up in Hoenn, Tanya was not unaccustomed to meeting people that talked and acted like him. Now she did enjoy hanging with them from time to time, but with their attitudes brought a seeming lack of awareness. Indeed, when he completely ignored her angry statement in exchange for focusing on the obvious blemish on her face.
"It's fine. Been there for some time." She curtly replied, not wanting to talk more about the incident that caused the blemish to appear on her face in the first place. However, it seemed like he intended to go on about it, the act of care causing Tanya to chuckle. "Don't worry man, it's cool." She reassured.
Then he moved on, Tanya watching him spur on his pokemon, who was dealing with the luggage. It seemed like se wasn't going to be able to stay angry at him for long. Well, she could try, but it would probably be a wasted effort on her part. In any case, it was nice to see someone from Hoenn and she thought she might as well get to know him more.
"I dunno where you'd get paint. I heard there's an art thing here or something, so you might want to ask them." Tanya mused, her mind quickly shifting. "In any case, might want to run that through with the Wardens. Not sure if they'd appreciate paint on their walls, even if it is pretty."
"I guess you come from Hoenn then." Tanya said, swiftly moving onto the next topic and focusing her attention on conversation. Since he seemed to move through different topics swiftly, she didn't hold back in letting her thoughts out. "Where do you come from? I'm assuming one of the beach towns like Slateport City or something. I'm from Hoenn as well, Fallarbor Town. You want to battle sometime? I mean, like right now I'd probably kick your ass, but it could be done in the future. Also, why'd you choose this dorm?"

Waiting for her reply, he reached for his boombox, turning it back on again. Not full blast though, you can't have a conversation at full blast. As the cassette started up again, it'd go from the top, starting with The Looney Tunes' Desert Bound. It started very subtly, but it certainly took off and gave him a good vibe, taking her advice to not worry about the black eye. Seems that wasn't what bothered her, but he took her mind off it, so it didn't matter anymore. Live and let live, that's what they always says about these situations.
When she told him of this art thing, he once again showed his approval with a solid nod of the head, liking the sound of that. "Sounds good, gotta find somebody from that." Talking out loud rather than to anybody at all, he was soon thrown back down to reality with all this talk on wardens. The idea didn't disturb him at all, someone was always going to say that what you're doing is against the rules anyway. Minor cosmetic changes wouldn't end the world, now would it? "So? Just don't tell em'. What they don't know don't hurt em' any." Resorting to his usual answer, it's not like there was any way a person could argue with his logic, right? "If they're so heavy about it, I'll just get some wallpaper. No one can say no to wallpaper."
His logic was once again impeccable, not caring much for what anyone could say to his ideas. From what he gathered, freedom of speech was no crime and he was just expressing himself, even if to the fullest extent possible. As they segued into a new conversation, he was actually a bit surprised with what she told him. "There's people from not-Hoenn here? Whoa." Such an idea that foreigners exist never struck him until now, or at least he thought they had their own academies. It was actually pretty cool to have such a diverse crowd to hang with, having never met many people from the other regions. As his exasperation of the concept faded, he'd she'd start to bombard him with a load of information- not that he minded.
Being a receptive listener along with his ability to drift so quickly from one sentence to the next in conversation, he'd just start up where she did. "Slateport? Nah." He delivered his decline of such an idea with a sharp shake of the head, lasting maybe a second before he spoke again. "Dudes there are such barney, man. Now, Dewford waves, that's good times right there. Fallarbor? Never heard of it. Sounds like it's got a lot of trees though. Battle- Whuh?Harsh, bruh. Thinkin' you can creme me because I'm some newbie. Never underestimate, brah. But yeah, maybe later, gotta figure out this feng shui, brah. You know feng shui, dude? It's like. . . an art or something. Anyway, it's super obvious why I chose this dorm. Where else would I have ease of access to shred the waves, man? Gotta hang ten, all day, every day. Besides, rule of thumb, beach girls are always prettier."

"Well of course there are people from other regions. This is like a pretty renowned academy." Tanya stated, surprised that the kid didn't know. Maybe he didn't do as much research into the academy as she did. Tanya wasn't sure to class his actions as brave, reckless or careless. Considering his general demeanor, she was tilting towards the latter.
Sure enough, he answered all of her questions in relatively quick succession, seeming to take the speed of the words in his stride. Though the last statement was a bit of a eye-raiser for her, she probably shouldn't expect much. He was a Dewford surfer dude. That pretty much was the gist of it so far. Maybe there was more to him, maybe there wasn't. In any case, she might as well talk. Who knew what he could do if left to his own devices.
"Feng Shui? Never heard of it." Tanya admitted, shrugging her shoulders and looking quizzically at the other kid. Whatever it was, it seemed to be somewhat important to the boy. He said it was an "art", so maybe she should ask some people from the Art Club. Issue with that however, she didn't know anyone in the department. At least, she thought she didn't.
"Oh, I should introduce myself. Name's Tanya, and obviously I'm a Wave Dormer, though I sometimes liked to be called a "Normal Tamer" just for laughs. Favorite type is Normal, but I do use other types as well. What about you? Fallarbor Town is like in the North West of Hoenn by the way."

Well, that is new information to him, this academy being prestigious and what not. Makes him wonder how he ended up here, considering himself to be nothing special in terms of intelligence or pokemon. Ehh, there's probably a reason for everything- whether he figures it out or not is all up to chance. Just keeping a casual grin, he'd notice her face intrigued by something, trying to understand it. At least for a few seconds, before she questioned him on one of the things he said, none the wiser to what it really was.
"Feng Shui, maaaan. It's like. . . focusing and channeling your chi. . . or was it Ki? Maybe Aura is the right word- Y'know, whatever man, you get it. So, you focus and you channel your energy into harmonizing with the environment, changing it to suit you and how you would suit others. It's all about putting everything in the right place, whether the first thing you wake up to is the breeze or the door. Gotta know what kinda person you are, man, gotta really feel it, ya dig?" Keeping a calm, slow tone for once, he seemed to have relaxed a bit, getting used to Tanya's presence with him. She'd make a good friend if she'd continue to no harsh his vibe, real cool like person.
Having explained one of his little hobbies, they slowly seeped into actually getting to know each others names. It was always exciting to learn someone's name, because it's the one time he'll ever hear himself say it. Expect the words "Dude" or "Brah" to replace it constantly, as if you didn't see it coming already. "Tanya, huh? Wicked. I'm Luka, by the way. I wouldn't say I have a favorite type, I mean, everything's got uses. Dewford is uhhh. . . South. . . South. . . somewhere in the south, we're an island mainly. My map skills are a little rusty, but I'm usually grade-A with directions, brah. Got a natural compass, I could find my way out of a Wailord." He took his time to divulge full thought in the conversation now that some meaningful information was being discussed.

Tanya looked amused as the boy tried to explain to her what Feng Shui was. To her, it sounded a bit like nonsense. Crossing her arms, a snide grin was present and indicated her opinion of the concept in question. Still, she could at least humor him. She may look into it if she really had nothing else to do, but that was far far down her list of priorities at the moment.
Once he moved onto talking about himself though, Tanya relaxed her arms and looked like she was taking him seriously. She knew of Dewford, but had never been there before. The only towns she had been to were Lavaridge, Slateport and her hometown of Fallarbor Town. Still, he was an amusing person to talk to, especially when he started to ramble on about how he had a "natural compass".
"Have you ever been stuck inside a Wailord?" Tanya joked, giggling as she let her arms down. "I'm not sure if I have that "natural compass" like you do, but I can read a map. I think. Still, even if I can't, I guess we're gonna be like taught that here and stuff." The more time she spent with Luka, the more she relaxed. Daniel also started to look comfortable as well, waving towards Luka's pokemon and smiling.
"You hear about the Team Origin stuff going on around here?" Tanya asked, deciding to move onto another topic. "I mean it's sorta important and it really shook up the school I guess."

Watching her give him that look, Luka was more confused overall with why she went that way. He even wanted to check over his shoulder to make sure she was looking at him, because there was nothing wrong with what he was doing. At least in his eyes, there wasn't, not knowing her opinions about decorating and moving around things that technically don't belong to you. It's whatever, man, her opinion didn't stay so low of him for long, he could tell that. She even started to giggle a bit, commenting on his usage of a certain phrase.
He'd smirk to her, knowing that he'd more or less got what he wanted out of the conversation. As long as she's enjoying it, the teenager was sure there'd be more time talking down the line, maybe even hanging out. "Well, Brah, if I was, you'd never know, because I'm already outside," Joking along with her, his arms rested behind his head, being fulled satisfied in himself now. "Yeah, I heard about that class. Is it like, mandatory, or do we get to choose what we do here? But, whatever, man, if you get lost, just gimme a call. I could probably find the dorm in ten minutes, tops."
As they all got more comfortable with eachother, it was pretty easy to see that his pokemon was more or less oblivious to the situation. He didn't look anywhere in particular, he was just sorta slow to catch on that another was waving to him. After some time to register, he gave a little nod of the head, his way of saying 'hello'. As the little greetings passed, they were already on a new topic, something about origins and it being important. "If it's so important, why wasn't I told when I got here? Ain't nobody on the boat was like, 'watch out, they got a team'. So, what's this about?" Instead of tacking on more useless words, he'd rather get down to the bottom of something for once. If she considered it important, he may as well take her word on it.

"I guess the academy would want to keep it a secret to the newer students." Tanya mused, thinking hard about the implications of the academy not telling new students about the threat that the team caused. Maybe they just wanted to pretend that it didn't exist and through some sort of miracle, it would eventually mean they just faded out of existence and into obscurity. Judging from how bold the team were in attacking Marvo City though, Tanya doubted that would happen.
"I might as well spill." Tanya began, sitting herself on the floor and making herself comfortable. "Team Origin is like a terrorist group that resides on the island. Scary people. I mean, they haven't been super active lately, but I've heard that some people encounter them on missions or something, meaning that they haven't completely disappeared yet and-."
Tanya realized that she was getting ahead of herself with her thoughts about Team Origin. She couldn't help but be curious about them and she was the type who liked information and rumors as well. "Sorry about that, getting ahead of myself." She apologized, sheepishly rubbing behind her ear before explaining Team Origin to Luka.
"So basically, Team Origin like attacked Marvo City out of nowhere. It was chaotic and the school like sent teachers, wardens and students to combat against them. Being there myself, it was like super tense and stuff and so much damage happened! Luckily they managed to build it up again, but ever since people in the town have accused the academy of being the cause of the attacks and like it's not been good for the academy at all since like people got scared to send kids here in risk of them falling into danger and stuff."
"Next thing we knew, bam! They appeared on TV. Well, they didn't literally appear. I mean like they blurred their faces and messed with their voices and whatnot to hide their identities but that isn't really the point. They called themselves Team Origin and wanted the "complete evacuation" of the island. It seriously was like "Get out or stuff like this will happen again!" I guess. Then again, I wonder what they want with the island. It's like really nice with all different types of ecosystems and whatnot, but still it's only an island and-." Tanya had realized at this point that she was now starting to ramble and stopped talking. Looking slightly embarrassed, she gave Luka a short time to digest the information, wanting to see what his reaction was to the group.
"Sorry about that, tend to ramble a lot. But yeah, that's Team Origin!" Tanya stated energetically, smiling at the new kid.
