It'd been just a bit after getting settled in, having had a nice chat with one of the other wave dormers. The sky was turning into nice oranges and pinks as the day faded through the afternoon, coming to night. Nothing shall keep him from his true calling, having spent several hours near them, but nary a touch to them. You know what I'm talking about, brah, the waves, a luscious tube of seafoam-green and transcendent blue. Having only came out in the board shorts he packed from Dewford and a fiberglass under his arm, a deep inhale was taken. After one breath, Luka felt right at place, true with himself and the sea at his midst's.
If it's one thing he was smart about, the waves were calling, knowing to take his chances before it were too late. Otherwise, the night would turn the water into a gnarly playground, not wanting to lose credibility in a bad wipe out on the first day. Charging toward the waters, the sprint took him there in no time at all, already setting down his board and his body on the surface as he was almost knee deep. His arms paddled him in deeper until he felt good with the waters current direction, soon jumping up in a quick motion to put his feet on the deck. Continuing his surf, all he had to do was wait for a wave to form, taking it slow as he surfed.
Taking his time, it soon formed, just what he wanted to see out on the waters, just what he needed. Watching as the waters rippled up with foam, the wave forming at one side and slowly coming up around the length. As the wave breaks, Luka starts heading right for the tube- where the wave is hollow, the optimal spot for his thrill ride. Letting it pick up more and more, he takes the drop- carving down the face of the wave. There was no spectacular trick, he wasn't hanging ten (or five, for that matter). He just wanted to feel the water, moisture hitting his body as he holds out his arm, gently touching the face of the wave with his palm. There was something majestic about water like this, just getting up close to the powerful constructs of a wave.
As it all ended, he was left with this feeling of euphoria, mist trapped in his red hair, body a mix of perspiration and vapor. Just riding along the waters with nothing left to do until the next wave, he remained calm. It didn't have to be big. . . just large enough to make him feel something, to get what he wanted from the world. A deep exhale struck him, tuning out the outside world for the moment, just letting him be him.

Honestly, she hadn't been to the beach since that meeting with Akihito, but there was something new she actually learned from being his friend. That and the beach looked like a good spot for the ghostly chandelier to play in the sand. Speaking of which, there seemed to be some kind of lone surfing contest going on in the distance. Wait, was that a person surfing? It wouldn't do any good to speak to that guy since he was probably in his own world. Henry looked at the waves and longed to play in the water, but he couldn't. He was part Fire and therefore, he could get wet and the worse case scenario would be that he wouldn't like the water anyway. Using Psychic enabled the chandelier to mold some shapes and dump some sand in order to make himself a moat for his sand castle. It was honestly kind of cute to see him play like that.

After a good while in the water, he knew it'd be time to pack it up, what with everything getting darker. Tomorrows another day for big surf, but there was something in his gut telling him otherwise. The never-ending feeling of 'one more, one more' would haunt his sleep, knowing this as a fact. One more was a good place to end it, as long as it was just that, one more wave to carve into. That's when the idea hit him to do one of the favorite things of his childhood, riding a small ripple to shore. It was always perfect for practice, or when he was being told to come home.
Controlling his angle, thoroughly maneuvering on the deck of the board, he slowly closed in on his target. A small wave going out to shore, not something he can touch, but something he could use for momentum. Using it to propel himself, he was steady before quickly stepping up to the nose of the board, keeping both feet there. It always felt real good to do this, letting his feet relax as the foaming waters lapped over them. Sooner or later, it was over, quickly stepping back to the deck as he made it to the sands. It looked easy, but then again, it hadn't been so fast and he was used to these types of waters. Another deep exhale hit him as he got off the piece of fiberglass and picked it up from the shallow surface of the water.
Taking his time on the walk back, he could notice a teenage girl with her chandelier of death, making his curious. The little thing building sand castles by her feet, herself doing nothing in particular but watching it. He couldn't give much of a wave with the board in both hands over his head, so he made his presence known otherwise. "Sup, brah?" His clear and to the point greeting, presented with little effort.

And there seemed to be a boy that had some kind of accent, but still sounded like someone from a coastal town or something, making his presence known by talking. "Hello. I haven't seen you around before. Are you new to the academy?" All the while, Henry continued to mold some things into shape before dumping some more sand to make a moat for his castle. The chandelier seemed to enjoy doing what he wanted to do once he got to the beach, but he really wished that Lucius would join him also. Maybe the living tree wasn't out right now, but it would be nice for the others to play with him. Maybe this teenage boy was new to the academy since she hadn't met many new people, but the most recent would have to be a Nature Dormer named Mio. That and she felt that she needed to socialize more with the new students that came to the academy.

There wasn't much else to do but answer her question, doing so with gusto, "Moved in, like, today. Everything's good so far. I'm Luka, nice to meet you." His mind functioned a bit better now that he'd been in the water, remembering the earlier conversation. That, and he had very little to say otherwise, considering he had no plans to meet people here. It's a good start to get to know people before you become a stranger in a strange land. Looking between her and her Chandelure, he'd nod, slowly squatting down to better get a look at the Ghost-Fire dual type. A good, solid moment later, he nodded to a simple statement, "Wait right here."
Speaking directly to her pokemon, he promptly dropped his board into the sand as a way of telling them he'd be back. Taking a brisk walk to the water, he squatted once more and scooped up some of the sea. Returning right after, he'd come right back down and pour it into the moat that was made just a few seconds ago, thinking it the right thing to do. He didn't even bother asking the trainers permission if water was allowed around her pokemon. Something about fire types dying if their flames go out, an old urban legend some still fear. Well, urban legend to him, seeing as it sounded pretty silly, plus he'd never seen it with his eyes. "Alright, soldier on, little king dude." Saluting the lamp creature, he'd once again be standing up, grabbing his board and cleaning it of any sand that stuck as he looked back at Alice.

"Nice to meet you, Luka. I'm Alice and this is Henry." The Chandelure waved back with his lamp hands. Henry did not want to go to the water and put some in the moat, but Luka had already made a run back to the ocean before telling them that he'll be back later. After that, the boy had come back with a handful of water to put in the moat. The chandelier stared at the moat for a few seconds before dancing happily. He then continued to use Psychic to mold out the towers of the castle, often keeping check if the other parts were not messed up by the waves. He certainly looked happy to actually have some kind of buddy to play with. "So, what brought you here to the academy?" Maybe the boy had some interests that made him want to go to the academy, but she would have to hear his answer first.

As much as he wanted to send out his pokemon to join in on the fun, something told him that it wouldn't work out. They just weren't as gentle as the psychic dude making his little castle. He didn't really understand pokemon, but it seemed like the nice thing to do, bring it some water. Not like it couldn't do it itself, it did have telekinesis, being able to move water like it moved the sand. This thought didn't really hit him, so what was done was done, and the chandelier was happy about all that happened. Could be many other reasons though, but he'll take it for a personal victory, if nothing more.
Thinking about her question, it took about a second for him to respond, "I dunno. Being a trainer is trendy, so I thought I'd try that. It's pretty cool to be honest. What about you?" It did sorta hit him that he had a bad reason for being here, but isn't that kinda the reason of coming? To learn what kind of trainer you're going to be, or if you're a trainer at all? There are classes for things besides battling, like breeding and contests, other vocations requiring use of pokemon.

"I thought I'd learn new things while in the academy and to make my own ghost army while I'm at it." So, being a trainer was actually this trendy as the boy had said it in his own words. Sure, there were trainers that wanted to be the best they can be, but they did have their own goals in the making. The chandelier seemed to be occupied with putting the finishing touches on his sand castle, so it was all good. Actually, that sand castle turned out to be quite as extravagant as the medieval palaces back in the middle ages. All those little details were really stunning and if there was a sand castle contest, Henry would've probably won this one. Turns out that he might have some talent in building stuff with telekinesis and he wasn't too far off either.

Nodding along while he was listening, he was a bit more interested in the Chandelure. The sand castle that was being made was slowly turning out to be more and more intricate and detailed. Actually kinda impressive, all of this being done with the mind. . . one wonders what would happen if a very powerful psychic had amazing mastery of the brush. Either way, it took his attention from the girl that was speaking, being able to barely catch the end of her sentence. "Ghost Army? Duuuuuuuude. Taking over the world is not cool," Taking legitimate concern in what she was doing for once, it was pretty short lived. Not like she was really planning on taking over the world with ghost pokemon, seems a bit weird for someone her age anyway.
Thinking about how little his interest was in her, he thought of this two ways. He could end the conversation now and go back to his dorm for a nice rest, or he could tell her what she's doing wrong. Being the bold, brash, and confident person he is, the male went with the latter. "Alice, lemme be real with you here. You're uhh. . . you're pretty bland, y'know? Y'gotta captivate with your words, with your actions. Like the little dude here, he puts so much effort into what he's doing. Y'gotta do that with your words, keep the conversation rolling, get into. Know what I mean?" As much as he hoped this would come off as helpful advice, it could be taken other ways. Well, he'll find out when she takes all this in, if she does at all.

"Oh, right. I'm pretty old-fashioned, so I tend to be kind of...offstandish about the way that people speak. I should try to speak the way you're speaking though. Sounds a bit easier. And that last part was a joke." For the most part, Luka seemed to be getting the hang of his language and that he probably expected other people to do the same. Meanwhile, the chandelier was putting so much effort into putting some detail on his little castle, almost as if he was a famous artist trying to paint a medieval setting. "That's a really nice castle. Good job, little man." The chandelier nodded and continued working on his masterpiece. Speaking of which, she hadn't seen some of Luka's Pokemon around as they might be mean to the ghostly chandelier. Of course, those Pokemon were probably new to the academy as well.

It seems like he was getting somewhere, but not quite where he wanted when it came to the conversation. Maybe he should lead by example instead of just bringing it up like that, needing to change the topic if he wanted to do that. She was getting more comfortable with him, as he could tell from the fact that she at least did feel the same way. All that was needed was some good practice and who better to practice on than someone you don't even know? Either way, he nodded along, not really understanding her joke and not thinking to hard on it. If he can't get it the first time, he's not gonna get it the second or third time.
With a verbal compliment being paid to the ghost-fire dual type, now seemed like a perfect time to shift the conversation to be more lengthy. Starting up, he'd take a nice look at it and say the first thing that came to mind, "Kalos is known for its historic castles, isn't it? That's what they say on the discovery channel, I think. Do you think he's from Kalos, that's why he's so good at this. I actually just learned today that people from Kalos actually go to this school, didn't know it was that top notch. I expected only Hoenn natives to really come here, but hey, things happen. That reminds me, where are you from? Native to here, or foreign? I wouldn't be too surprised if you weren't from this region, but I feel like you'd fit in somewhere. Everyone fits in somewhere. Little dude looks like he definitely fits into a castle, though, brah." He may've divulged way too much information, but that's the kinds of things he liked, having very full conversations with people.

"I don't think he's from Kalos. He's from Unova and I'm foreign to this school actually. I'm a foreigner from the Johto region and I live in Ecruteak City. It's totally a quiet city, I can tell you that. Mainly because people are kinda busy doing stuff like they normally do. And what about you, dude? Where are you from?" And for a moment, it seemed as if she lapsed into the boy's language, something that she might be comfortable with using from now on if she wanted to speak the same kind of language to this guy. And the chandelier was confused as to why his trainer was speaking like that all of a sudden, but continued right on to what he was doing. Finishing up the details of his castle and making himself feel like a king. Kind of like how he was named from an ancient king apparently if there ever was some kind of king from long ago.

Now this was something he could get into, being able to pay more attention to her. It was definitely a hell of a lot more casual, with her even saying dude once. Although, he couldn't tell whether she did because she liked it or because he was doing it, but it was fine by him. Dude is his word of choice, so it never mattered who was saying it, you could be the least hip brah and he'll permit the word dude. "Whoa, brah. Unova, huh? Isn't that like. . . I don't even know. Sounds far away and new. Anyway, Johto, Huh? Ain't Ecruteak the place with those bomb ass chicks? They wear kimono's and stuff? I never knew what they were called." Sucking his teeth at his own incompetent memory, he at least was getting somewhere with who she was.
As she asked him of her personage, the teenager grinned. If it was one thing about him, he took pride in himself and his home town, probably top priority. "Well, brah, I hail from the mighty coasts of Dewford, where the waves are heavy and gnarly. Small town and stuff, but I wouldn't trade it for aaaaaanything. Like, duuude, if you love to surf, if you looove to brawl, brah, it is paaaradiiise. Y'gotta visit, man, it is just great, the food, the view, the culture. Unf!" Showing his great appreciation for his home life, he punctuated it with emphasis on vowels. And that little unf thing, it just came out of nowhere, just really feeling it.

"Yeah, Ecruteak's the one city with those chicks in kimonos. I've seen them myself and they're really good at dancing." Oh my, lapsing into that speak never felt this silly, but it's the least that she could do since learning a new language was always fun. And as the chandelier continued his work, the boy recounted about where lived and it was in fact a town from Hoenn. Coastal and where he used to surf along the waves. Well, that was cool enough and she might have some Pokemon that hail from his region. "Sounds wicked. I would like to see that town sometime, dude. Maybe surfing with a Pokemon might not be a bad idea." Only one Pokemon in her team knew Surf and that was her Dragalge named Morgan. Funny how his name had something to do with the ocean and all that.

She was definitely working into a fervor with how he spoke, and he didn't mind it one bit. Slowly, she was becoming a real pro at his language, getting all sorts of good vibrations. Maybe by the end, she'll be fluent in noice-enese, they could be noice-ing buddies. The odd thing about this, he hasn't even said the word 'noice' yet, needing to change that real soon. Resting back, his arms were now behind his head, touching the boards rails as it dug into the sand. The position was a bit much, considering he was still shirtless and all that, but it didn't seem like she'd mind. "Noice," The only true remark to show that what she said was top level to him.
As they moved on, she talked about surfing with pokemon, which was something entirely differnt to many people, even if she didn't know. There were two categories when it came to competing in surfing, being with or without your pokemon. One was more about skill and athleticism while the other was all about style, baby, making up some crazy moves. Thinking back on it now, he'd only see so few people surf with their pokemon due to the level of intensity such a thing was, even thought it hadn't seemed like it. "Brah, you could totally crash at my place if you want. We'll catch some waves, get some sun, eat some 'Karp. Honestly, Poke-Surfing is super crazy, dude, you won't even believe what this one guy did. He was all like 'Whoa', then 'Wha-POW'! You had to see it for yourself, man, it was totally hype."
