The boy detective sat on the beach and sighed. He had just moved in and gotten everything settled about a day ago and this academy life was still very new to him. He knew however that if he was to become a strong officer and excel in his classes here he would need to expand his team beyond the two pokemon that had been given to him at the start of his registration at the school. He was in no rush to do so and was more than willing to let his pokemon team slowly and organically fill out but seeing as he had gotten settled for now he saw now as a good a time as any to work on catching the first pokemon of his own.
He brought out Sherlock his Treecko, knowing he'd likely have an advantage over any type of beach-bound pokemon. "Alright, stay on guard." He nodded to his started pokemon to be on the ready. His eyes scanned the waves for signs of anything suspicious, also checking the sands and shoreline. An officer must be ever vigilant after all. "We're on the case old friend. If there's something out here to be found... we'll find it."

DJ and Sherlock continued scanning the waves and shore until the boy spotted an outcropping of rocks that obscured his vision a bit, a small cliff casting shade over part of the beach. He couldn’t be sure but he could have sworn he saw some movement in that direction. “Hey, let’s go check over there!” DJ told his pokemon as he started running towards the rocks. Both boy and pokemon were surprised at what they found however, just behind the rocks, barely hidden from view was a large sea creature pokemon, a Lapras. The pokemon was washed up on the beach and looked as if it had hit the sharp rocks hard.
“Oh no… who knows how long you’ve been here…” He frowned, going up to the Lapras and inspecting it. A beached Lapras had somewhat limited mobility to begin with but it looked like it had also sustained some injuries. “Let’s use our investigation skills Sherlock. It looks like these injuries were sustained from crashing into the rocks, possibly from a wild current or a higher than expected tide coming in and going out again quickly. Victim appears injured but not critical so this happened long enough ago that no one so him out there but short enough that the injuries became worse. The salt water on these cuts will sting but it’ll also keep them from getting infected, so that’s good.” He looked at his Treecko and nodded. “As future Interpol officers we have to help him!” He called, bringing out Christie the Croagunk as well. “Both of you move as many rocks as you can out of the way, try and clear a path to the sand so we can move him carefully. I’ll see what we can do about these wounds.” He examined the cuts, again it looked like it hurt pretty bad but nothing threatening.
He dug into his pocket and pulled out one of the Oran Berries he’d received from academy orientation and held it to the Lapras’ mouth. “Here, eat this. It’ll make you feel a bit better.” The Lapras looked hungry as well as hurt, possibly lost from a herd. The creature groaned weakly and nibbled at the berry, taking it into his mouth. The next cry sounded a bit stronger and DJ looked around to see his pokemon clearing the rocks out of the way. “Alright if you can move I want you to try and slide up onto the sand here…” He said, ushering the Lapras forward like guiding a plane down a runway.
Slowly but surely the Lapras did as he was told and moved to a softer area, lowering his head as DJ inspected the wounds. The Oran Berry had helped a bit but Lapras were hardy creatures and one berry wasn’t going to solve all its woes. “Alright I think I can do something about these wounds.” He pulled a first-aid kit from his pack and smiled. “An officer is always prepared.” He grinned as he dried off the scratches, spraying a potion from the kit on the marks to help heal them and making sure they were clean before attaching bandages. “There… that should hold for now. You should feel a little better but if you come with me we can get you some real medical attention back at the academy. You’re too big to walk the whole way, so... oh! I know!” he fished out an academy ball with a grin. “I could take you in this! You can rest up in here on the way and if you want you can even join my team.” He nodded to the other two pokemon. The Lapras looked over the boy and the pokemon that helped him, touched by the act and needing the rest and a place to call home after losing its herd, nodded softly, booping its head on the ball and accepting the capture.
With a few wiggles the ball made a ding and the Lapras was caught, ready for some rest and healing as well as a splendid future on DJ’s team.
