Now Kyrie had thought about taking the trek to the Lava Dorm's area. Then she remembered how far away it was and freakishly hot lava sounded. The only reason why she even bothered to think of going so far away by foot was to capture a pokemon that would allow her to travel back without being on foot. Transport basically. She remembered the ponyta and blitzle back home and of course with her being picky about it, she chose having a ponyta. The one pokemon that was on the really bright and really friggin' hot side of the island. At least that's what Kyrie thought it would be like over there. She's never actually been to any of the other dorms areas anyway. Heck she tries to stay as far away from the academy as she can when she can. Which is another reason why instead of traveling across halfway cross the island, the girl chose a much more practical place. Much closer too.
The zodiac ruins, filled with their dusty old blocks and fancy historical meanings. Kyrie wasn't interested in any of that. No, her eyes were much more interested in searching the dark overhangs as well as the creepy branches on some not-so-friendly looking trees. Dust here, dust there - dust everywhere! Then there would be the occasional shadow of a pokemon flitting overhead.
The Mana girl had chosen a lovely time to come here. Right after dusk when she couldn't see shenanigans. That was when all the flying types were out right? People always talked about how creepy the place was and where creepy things were - creepy flying things ought to be. Besides, if Kyrie couldn't get a ground mount, might as well aim for the sky. And hopefully it would be something that could actually fly, with the wings; not the floaty mini-ghosts that were no doubt around there. "Here creepy flying thingies. I know you're up there or over there. Somewhere." She cooed out, flashing her game device's bright light into the shadowy crevices. It was a good thing she had her handheld on her being, else she would've been completely blind.

Look here? Nope. Over there? Nope.
Now usually the flying types were the easier ones to find weren't they? That's what people always kept posting in the blogs. Always something about some huge infestation of zubat that would ambush people in caves. "Ah!" That was it! Maybe it was because she wasn't in a cave that the search wasn't going as planned!
But wait... weren't zubat really tiny. Like really super tiny that even Mammon couldn't even ride on it? What the heck was she going to do with something that? Now Kyrie didn't know too much about the bat pokemon's evolution line but she was pretty sure that any type of bat pokemon was going to be small. They were like mice with wings after all, right?
The girl had stopped to contemplate on that when a movement caught her eye. Was it a flyer!? Was she finally going to get transportation? To have her own personal snack fetcher?! Oh wait, Mammon already did that... Well whatever, she wasn't about to wait around and let it get away.
That was until she stopped to see... a rock. With legs... Legs not wings, not to mention rocks couldn't fly anyway. A quick "Nope!" and the girl spun on her heel to flee in the opposite direction before she somehow angered the little rock thing. Flying, flying... Maybe whistling would help? Birds liked to whistle right? Maybe the flying things here did too. Settled on that the girl continued to search about, letting out a low wolf whistle as went along.

"Just keep walking, just keep walking, 'cuz that's what we do - until we hear flapping!" Kyrie had been mentally singing to herself until she really heard flapping. Flapping meant flying and flying meant flying types! She wanted to do a fist pump but her urgency got the better of her. More quickly walking than running, Kyrie found herself the noise makes. A lone zubat, who had found his-her comfy place in a niche. A zubat. Kyrie was pretty sure that she had just been ranting about those, mentally not verbally; and here was one now. To catch or not to catch. It had wings, it was really small... Whatever, it had wings. Worse case all she had to do was evolve it and attatch a basket for a ride. She could do that.
Yeah Kyrie was definitely doing that, she didn't want to walk anymore. Reaching for Mammon's ball, the girl summoned her eevee. The little eevee was hopping from forepaw to forepaw in ancticipation. "Mammon, first attack-" And that was all she had to say before the eevee charged at the zubat with a Quick Attack. Wham, the flying type was knocked from his finally found comfy spot and he was not happy about it. (Kyrie decided to think of it as a he since all her party pokemon were 'he's'.) Angered, the zubat swished his wings at the evolution pokemon, hitting him with these shiny slicer pieces of air. Her eevee was sent flying, regaining his footing on piece of ruin before gaining ground again. Before Kyrie could say her next command or try to, the zubat had begun to screech this hum sort oddly tingling sound at Mammon.
"Move. Stars." Catching what she meant, Mammon jumped to the ruins - bouncing of one then another till he was in the air and in the clear before sending down a shower of Swift. The hail of stars rained down on the more or less helpless zubat. Before the dust could be cleared, Kyrie saw a shadow dart from the dust - its fangs shined against the darkness hinting for a Bite attack. "Bite!" The trainer called up to Mammon who was still falling. Angling his fall at the zubat, the two collided, biting eachother no doubt; and falling. Falling until they hit the ground, throwing up another cloud of dust to the still disappearing thing of dust. A shadow jumped from the dust to land atop another ruin piece. Mammon.
This was another reason why she needed wings, something to clear the dust. By the time it cleared, Kyrie saw the fallen zubat. It groaned but it seemed to have fainted, kind of creepy really. Kyrie reached for an empty ball, getting as close to it as possible; before tossing the contraption on the bat. She felt... so mean, throwing that big ole ball onto that poor thing. He just fell from the sky! Mammon didn't seem to share her pities though, jumping down onto her shoulder and kooing for attention.

Now if that little bat had managed to break out of his ball after all of that, Kyrie didn't know what she'd think but she was pretty sure that Mammon would not be happy. He was practically purring at this rate and he kept head butting her cheek. She was amazed that he didn't fall off with all his rubbing and climbing on. Definitely a squirrel, not a fox, not a dog; definitely a squirrel.
A smile flashed across her face as she rubbed the creature's head, picking up the ball and putting in her pocket while he was distracted. He was such an attention, somehow catching another pokemon seemed impossible when he kept attacking her face like that so Kyrie gave up. Time to go home, even if it did mean more walking...
