Her passion for pokemon is very prevalent and she is super competitive about many things in life. History: Tanya was born into the Christianson household to Derrick and Sarah Christianson. She was the second child out of four, with all her other siblings being brothers. Nick was the oldest, followed by Richard and Matthew. The Christianson family lived in Fallarbor town, mostly due to her mother working as a contest official in the local contest hall. Due to her mother’s stable job, Tanya spent all of her childhood in the town alongside her family, learning contest skills from her mother and competitive battling from her father.
Tanya’s mother grew up poor and had a very tough childhood that strengthened her resolve and determination for pokemon contests. Since she was poor, she only had leftover dresses that her older siblings wore and people judged her based on her poor upbringing. However, she worked hard alongside her Zangoose in the cool contests and eventually succeeded in winning a master ribbon in that category. From there, she was recognized for her traits and put in the limelight, eventually able to form a steady income and settle in Fallarbor Town, where she met and fell in love with Derrick. Tanya was raised on these stories of her mom and was told that everything happens for a reason, a guiding principle that has followed her to this day.
Her parents had a pretty lenient attitude towards parenting and encouraged their children to pursue a wide range of activities; even if they found out they didn’t like it afterwards. Tanya quickly found her passion in pokemon from a young age and didn’t stray too far from it, often watching contests alongside her mother or learning how to battle from her father.
Due to being in a household dominated by men, she grew up in a very competitive atmosphere where the siblings would have little competitions with each other in order to prove that they were “the best”. Using their parents’ pokemon, they often had pokemon battles with each other as well as contest battles since their mother was an official judge. She was able win most of the pokemon battles they had with each other while finishing middle of the pack in contests. In an attempt to distinguish herself from her other siblings, she pushed herself to get better in battling so that she could consistently be the best and stand out from her other siblings.
The eldest brother found his field in pokemon contests and soon begun pursuing a career in that direction. So far, it has not been too successful for him, but he is slowly making progress with each contest that he takes part in. It was because of this that she decided to move towards battling, wanting to triumph off her own merits instead of that of her family.
Doing intensive research, she eventually found out about the Grey Garden Academy and realized that it was the perfect opportunity to develop her skills. Once she brought up the issue with her parents, they fully accepted her decision to enroll in the academy. Eventually, she was accepted and quickly made her way towards the academy, bringing her infectious energy and mother’s teachings.
