Astrid had heard about the berry orchard more or less by chance. Which was to say, she had overheard someone mentioning going by there earlier. So, as with all things, she decided to check it out herself. What she came across was the most impressive selection of berry trees and bushes that she'd ever seen. Which wasn't saying much since she hadn't seen more than a few at a time, but it was still impressive to her. So she wandered through it, moreso exploring than looking for anything in particular, and picked a few at random as she passed. She could figure out what all each of them were used for once she bothered looking at what she'd found.

So there was a limit on how frequently students could visit this orchard? ...Well, that made sense, at least. If people could come all the time and just pick as much as they pleased, there wouldn't be any berries left. But she was now allowed to come again, and so Astrid made her way back into the berry grove and wandered around. She picked a few berries as they caught her interest, again planning to just sort through them later on. After she'd picked a few, she continued to wander around for a bit, just finding her way through the whole grove for future reference. And then she left.

Astrid was back, and ready to pick berries again. She'd been out a few days because of recent events, but had finally found the time and energy to go do it. So once she did, she didn't let it go to waste. She made her way through the orchard, doing a once-around of the entire grove and picking a few berries as they caught her interest. Again, no particular reason or pattern to them. Doing so at random was pretty good for finding what some of them were. Otherwise, she'd never bother to look most of them up.
Then, once she was satisfied, she left again.

Astrid was back again and looking for more berries. Not much of a reason for it this time, but it was something that passed the time for the moment. She was struggling to make progress on her music and didn't feel like going out and training at the moment, so it made for a good break. Besides, whether it was the pleasant smell or just the atmosphere, even just standing in the berry grove was relaxing. She could stay there all day. ...Well, no, she couldn't, because she'd lose her mind staying in one spot like that for so long, but it was pleasant enough to make her feel that way in the moment.

Was there still any point to this? Of course there was. Sure, Astrid hadn't actually used any of them yet, but that time would come eventually. Probably in an emergency. Which was exactly why a bunch of berries was a good thing to have. Besides, it wasn't like she'd run out of space for them or anything like that. So, after forgetting about it for almost the entire week because of the tournament and other to-dos, Astrid had come back to pick more berries. And pick more berries she did, in her usual, haphazard manner of wandering through the grove and picking things that looked interesting.

Astrid was pretty distracted today. So distracted that she paid even less attention to what berries she was picking than usual. Not that that was all that much to begin with. But really, she'd just gone for a walk while thinking of song ideas and what more she could do with the ones she already had. That walk had taken her pretty close to the berry grove, so she'd stopped by in the meantime to pick a few. And then picked them idly while still being lost in her thoughts. So it happened that, while she was becoming more familiar with what berries were what, she still had no idea what she'd just taken and walked out with.

It was only when wandering through the forest, back to her usual spot deep within that it dawned on her that she hadn't actually gone berry picking in awhile. She'd have thought it would be easier to go more often, with so little going on, but nope. It was when nothing was happening and she was busy working on her music that she never even thought to go look for berries. But now she remembered, and so she wandered into the orchard to see what she could find. As usual, she did so more or less aimlessly, letting sporadic interest and occasionally Lunatic's questionable judgment determine what she picked.
