From his dorm room, Sorin could easily see the large Mt. Magmadyne nearby. He had been wondering where he would do some exploring today if he got the chance, so why not keep it close to home? Kipperin and Lucian were also looking at the mountain in awe. That settled it. Today, they would explore the mountain. He turned to his partners saying, "What do you say we take a look see? I'm sure we'll find plenty of strong and unique pokemon inside, and this will be a good chance to get some real battle experience for you guys." Kipperin chirped happily and Lucian sharpened his blades. It only took Sorin a few moments to gather his supplies, making sure to bring an extra canteen of water, and set off for the mountain.
The trek took a little over an hour to reach the base, and the climb up was steep and craggy. He stopped when he reached an opening in the rocks. It was a cave entrance! Sorin took out his Lantern and lit it. the soft yellow-orange glow illuminated the way in. With Lucian at his side this time and Kipperin waiting in his pokeball on standby, they entered the cave.
As it turned out, they wouldn't need the lantern for long. natural red light began to fill the walls of the tunnel, and when it opened up to the inside it was clear where the light was coming from. The tunnel opened up into a large room. Geodes and other crystal formations lined the walls, and a river of liquid magma ran far underneath. The heat was very uncomfortable and dry, forcing Sorin to take a drink from his canteen, and to give some to Lucian as well. On the far side was another tunnel, probably leading farther into the mountain.
