The First Challenge [Seria/Battle]

Wincing, Seria knew that she had already lost. Oh, nuts... Seria sighed as Antenora looked painfully weary, she would definitely be knocked into submission with the next attack... And Seria felt even more upset when she realized that despite her efforts, she couldn't do much. Regardless, she was resigned to her fate as the next Sludge Bomb was able to connect with Antenora, who was honestly took weakened at the moment to move much, the Double-Edge recoil simply compounded onto the damage she took and she collapsed to the ground. Seria gasped and made her way towards the fallen Deerling to make sure she was okay.

"Ahhh! Mercy, mercy!!" Seria flailed about as she kneeled next to her Pokemon to inspect her condition and see if she was okay. Seria could tell that Tanya greatly enjoyed her victory over her, but it really wasn't doing her much good at the moment to see Antenora like this. But, it did make her realize that she has a long way to go if she even wants to have a shot at being able to meet a legendary Pokemon. She would be discouraged if nobody took her seriously. Thus, she had to get better and stronger... For the meanwhile, Seria ignored Tanya and continued to cradle the barely-faint Deerling in an attempt to comfort her before getting ready to get set up for healing the Pokemon.

Antenora the Deerling knocked out! You win!

While Tanya wanted to feel good about winning, seeing Seria's reaction to her pokemon losing made her feel like a bully. She finally won a match and she wanted to feel good about it. However, watching how Seria cradled her fainted pokemon made her feel like she had been a jerk to her.

"You did good Daniel." Tanya reassured, putting back Daniel in his pokeball. She let out a heavy sigh to herself. She didn't realize that Seria would be this hurt about getting her pokemon hurt. It made her feel bad that she even asked her to fight in the first place. Walking towards her, Tanya put a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry Seria. I didn't mean to make you feel like that through battling." Tanya apologized sincerely, bowing her head a little and frowning in sadness. She felt bad for hurting her friend the way she did. She didn't really know what else to say at the moment, so she instead elected to stay quiet as a gentle breeze blew through the Academy Battle Dome.

Seria gave Antenora a bit more of a gentle petting and stroking, quietly assuring her that she would be fine, before returning her to her Pokeball. She felt Tanya's hand on her shoulder, and Tanya said she was sorry. Seria sighed and, still kneeling, turned her head so she was looking back up at Tanya. "...It's okay... There's no need to apologize... I lost fair and square. And besides, you won, so I don't want to take anything from you. I just have to get better so people will take me more seriously, right?" Seria smiled and tried to be a good sport about the whole thing, though deep inside she was disappointed at herself for losing in that fashion. Deep inside, she resolved to get better so that she can prove to everyone that she's worth the notice of the legendary Pokemon. "Like I said... I'm not very good at battling. You take the whole thing very seriously, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that you won. Don't worry about me..." Seria smiled again as she tried to reassure Tanya that everything was okay.

Well, it kinda was.

Tanya couldn't help but smile when Seria smiled as she was reassuring her that things were ok. She felt a little sad that she didn't think people would take her seriously if she didn't battle. She didn't like to admit it, but Seria did have a point. It was a very competitive environment here and if they didn't show that they could battle well, she knew they were going to be left behind in the dust. She had to tell herself to keep battling, or else she would lose more and she would fall behind and that's not what she wanted to happen.

"Don't be like that Seria! You know, you gave me a really good run for my money and like, if Leech Seed hadn't missed, you would've most definitely won! In any case, don't be too disappointed about the battle. Take it as a learning experience to get better because I know you can be really great." Tanya encouraged cheerfully, smiling widely in an attempt to cheer up her friend. "I mean seriously, that Purrloin was like super annoying and you used its abilities very well. You completely outplayed me on the battlefield when you had it out. Keep up tactics like that and you'll obtain victory in no time!"

She waited for her friend to get up, letting her take as much as she needed to get ready to leave. While she could still defeat Seria now, Tanya knew that it was only a matter of time before she was going to lose to her. That, alongside the thought of battling Astrid again, caused her to feel a drive to get better at battling not only for her own self-satisfaction, but for her pokemon as well.

Seria shook herself a bit as she stood up and stretching out a bit. Tanya let out a stream of comments about the last battle, exclaiming how Seria was able to keep her on her toes and how she shouldn't have been disappointed about that battle. Come to think of it, Seria did recall how she frustrated the ever-living crap out of Tanya, so she at least knew that Severa's role as a disruptor was well clear. "Mm... Yeah, you're right! I saw how annoyed you were, hehe. It was kinda cute, but it scared me a little!" Seria had a grin on her face now. "But you're totally right. We both gotta keep getting better." she continued, nodding and smiling once again, her typical innocent self.

Seria didn't have exactly the same drive for battling as Tanya did, but she did have a desire to show that one's dreams to meet the legendary Pokemon could power her through, and her one-dimensional nature could really bring good results. She soon nodded after a few moments. "Alright, I should probably get going and heal my Pokemon... Let's hang out again some time, okay?" Seria fidgeted a little.

Tanya sheepishly laughed when Seria recounted how she felt when she faced Tanya on the battlefield. Tanya often found herself getting carried away in pokemon battles and this time was no exception. Seria was a worthy opponent and now that she knew that she wasn't traumatized by the entire experience, she was glad that she did decide to battle her.

"That's the spirit!" Tanya agreed, nodding her head. It seemed that Seria was feeling better about the prospects of having a pokemon battle. It was pretty cool that she was able to be Seria's first pokemon battle on the academy. She wondered if she was her first pokemon battle ever. She wouldn't be too surprised by it, considering how into legendary pokemon research she was.

"Sounds like a good shout! I'll see you around! We'll most definitely hang out!" Tanya exclaimed, glad that she had made a pretty strong friend in the academy. Tanya ran out of the dome, waving goodbye to Seria as she did. That was another experience added. Things just seemed to be going well for her here and for that, she was glad.
