The First Challenge [Seria/Battle]

Once again, Tanya found herself in the Battle Dome. It was not too long ago that Tanya lost her first match to Astrid. While it did suck to lose, she took it as a learning experience to expand her pokemon repertoire. She knew her pokemon stood little chance against Steel pokemon, so she knew where she had to go to gain more pokemon.
However, when she heard how averse Seria was to battling, Tanya couldn't help but challenge her. It was mostly due to her wanting to help Seria overcome her aversion. After all, they were in an academy to be the best trainer they could be and it really wasn't a good thing to be scared to battle. If she could help her by fighting her, then she was willing to do. As she waited, Tanya released Dani and Daniel from their pokeballs.
"I hope you guys are ready for another battle." Tanya warned them, crouching down to their level and petting Daniel. The Buneary let out a happy cry, pleased at the petting while the Skrelp nodded it's head, preparing itself for the possibility of battle.

Seria recalled telling Tanya she would see her at the Academy Battle Dome. Now, she wasn't really confident in her own abilities, but she had befriended Antenora and she caught two more Pokemon as well, so she knew that she could figure out how to do the whole battling gig. Except, how well would that rudimentary knowledge translate to actual battling? Seria had to find out, and she figured she might not be ridiculed for it if she did poorly. And so, she finally made her way to the arena, the battlegrounds for the challenge. When Seria entered the dome, she released Severa from her Pokeball, because Seria knew how much the little kitty loved to be held in her arms, and they were going to battle, after all.
"Hey there!" Seria called out towards Tanya once she saw her at the Dome, she was accompanied by a bunny Pokemon - Buneary, and some sort of kelp-like Pokemon that Seria did not recognize. It must have come from the only region she had not been to, Kalos. Her parents did go to Kalos, but only for a short while. "Sorry if I'm late! Okay, how do we do this battling thing? How many Pokemon shall I use? I'm ready whenever you are." Seria shot in quick-fire, obviously excited, but also nervous at the same time.

Hearing footsteps, Tanya lifted her head and saw the arrival of Seria. She was slightly relieved that Seria didn't just completely ditch her. She also had an unfamiliar pokemon in her hands. Getting out her pokedex, it apparently was called a Purrloin and was Dark type. Well at least it wasn't Steel.
"Hey there Seria!" Tanya called out, waving happily at her friend. Upon the arrival of Seria and her Purrloin, the other two pokemon beside her quickly spun around and glared at Seria and her pokemon with fierce grit and determination. Tanya noticed this and while usually she didn't mind too much, she didn't want to scare her friend too much.
"At ease for now guys." She said, causing the Buneary to playfully jump up into Tanya's hands. The Skrelp stopped glaring, but hovered protectively between Tanya and Seria. "Well for this battle, we'll use two pokemon each. You see that I have a Skrelp and a Buneary. Using that knowledge, pick the two pokemon you think are going to have the best advantage and send them out. From there, you have to command them in battle with moves they learn and the aim is to knock out both your opponent's pokemon."
She thought that it was fair to brief Seria on how to battle. A part of her wondered if she had ever been in a pokemon battle. Nonetheless, Tanya had issued the challenge and once she had told her friend what to do, she started to walk to the other side of the arena.
"Pick your first pokemon Seria!" Tanya called out, letting Daniel jump out of her hands and stand to her left while Dani stood to her right.

Seria was able to look at Tanya's Pokemon more closely; with the PokeDex, Seria was able to identify the purple kelp-like creature, it was Skrelp, as Tanya soon mentioned after calming down her two Pokemon that became somewhat excited, but more in the determined fashion. She explained that they would each use two Pokemon, and instructed Seria that she should use the ones she thought had the best advantage and send them out. Seria knew the basics for sure, so she'd do her best. She was just simply nervous. Regardless, Seria acknowledged Tanya and walked to her spot opposite Tanya. Pick your first Pokemon; she called out, as her two Pokemon stood beside her. Seria knew from her PokeDex that the Skrelp was probably some manner of Poison type. She didn't have any Pokemon that did well against Poison types. However, her Deerling, Antenora, would do a good number on that Buneary with the Jump Kick attack. This in mind, Seria would decide to open with Severa herself. " Okay, I read you loud and clear! It's your time to shine, Severa!" Seria let Severa hiss and leap out gracefully from her perch in the trainer's arms, getting ready to battle. However, Seria did not release her second Pokemon. When she stood at the ready on the opposite side of the field, she felt a sense of power. Whenever she was in a pokemon battle, Tanya couldn't help feeling elation and powerful, a sense that she could control her own destiny. Alongside Dani and Daniel and others who would join her team, she felt like she could take on the world. "If that's your starter, then I'll choose mine. Your time to shine has come, Daniel!" She declared in dramatic fashion, twirling in place before pointing a resolute finger at Seria, her opponent. On cue, Daniel the Buneary jumped in front of Tanya and took on a battle stance. She marveled at how his mindset could change so quickly in and out of battle. It just seemed natural to him, which was good in her books. "Just because you're my friend doesn't mean I'll go easy on you! Get ready for a Jump Kick!" Tanya yelled, swiping her hand across the air and taking on an offensive stance. Curling up his ears, Daniel extended them out from the floor to launch himself high into the air. From there, Daniel turned in the air and aimed at Purrloin. From there, Daniel flew towards the enemy, using momentum towards his advantage to strike Purrloin. Seria watched as Tanya decided to choose her Buneary to battle. He looked ready and eager to fight, which was a farcry from his seemingly relaxed demeanor only moments ago. Seria tried to look as determined as she could. Tanya called out for her Pokemon to perform a Jump Kick, a move that her Deerling Antenora had used against her own Purrloin in the past, when it was still wild. Severa was weak to the attack, so it would deal some significant damage to her. Though, Severa still hung in there. However, she probably wouldn't be able to handle another attack. Seria thought about her next move carefully while Severa was still reeling from the impact of the Buneary's strong legs. Whimpering for a moment, Severa hissed back at the bunny Pokemon.
Hmm... So many things to do. I was able to do some study with Severa and was able to help her learn some new tricks that will disrupt the target... but what shall I do? Severa can't handle another Jump Kick attack... Seria looked down at Severa, who kept spitting at the ground. I see... She wants to poison him. Let's see how this works, then! Here goes! Seria clenched her fist before pointing a finger at the Buneary. "Hang in there, Severa hon! Use Toxic! Just like I taught you!"
As if on cue, Severa raced towards the Buneary, fangs bared, before trying to imposingly loom over him (it failed miserably, because she was shorter than the Buneary), but then began to pretend it was hacking a hairball out of its throat - instead, she spat some sort of yucky saliva on the Buneary.

Tanya punched the air in happiness when the attack hit. She knew that Jump Kick was a risky attack, owing to the fact that not only could it miss, but if it missed, Daniel would've taken significant damage. As Daniel landed the hit though, he graciously flipped backwards and landed on its feet, ready to attack again.
"I see you're aiming for the long run then!" Tanya called out in response to the use of the move Toxic. Daniel braced itself for an attack when he saw the Purrloin running towards him. The saliva that she shot out though completely covered Daniel and as he tried to shake it off, Tanya was noticing that he seemed to be staggering a little, the effects of the poison taking place.
Thinking quickly, Tanya worked out calculations in her mind. She could risk another Jump Kick. That would surely knock out the opposing Purrloin, but it would risk Daniel taking extra damage if he missed and that alongside the poison could spell a quick end for her pokemon. On the other hand, Tanya could go with the safer Dizzy Punch. While the same type attack boost would mean that it would hit pretty strongly, Tanya worried that it wouldn't be enough. After some quick thinking, she knew what she had to do as she yelled out her commands.
"Daniel! Dance around the battlefield and strike with Dizzy Punch!"
Though the pokemon was feeling the effects of the posion, Daniel started to bounce randomly around the battlefield, using its legs to bounce all around Purrloin in a dizzying array of movements. Daniel would then start jumping in with one punch from one direction, followed by another punch from another direction in a syncopated rhythm in an attempt to confuse the opponent if they did not fall.

Seria grinned slightly as she saw the opposing Pokemon get quickly affected by the wily tactics of Severa; however, of course, she did not do any actual damage, so the Buneary could still take the opportunity to make another move. Seria thought that Severa would be finished off with another Jump Kick, but she was a bit surprised when the bunny Pokemon decided to rapidly bounce around the area, trying to dizzy Severa with a series of graceful movements, using the attack 'Dizzy Punch' in order to disorient her. Seria knew that it would do a good deal of damage, but fortunately for her and Severa, the kitty Pokemon was able to barely stand. The next attack, no matter how weak it was, would definitely be enough to knock her out. Instead, Severa shook her head and now glared furiously at the bunny.
"Ah, calm down...!" Seria fidgeted as she saw Severa struggle to stand properly, though she was still forcing another move out. Dangit... one more attack will do her in! I have to do something... I know! Seria yelled out one more command in response to this. "Alright, Severa! Aggravate that Buneary with your Swagger!" Seria now knew that the Buneary tried to confuse Severa... so she would respond by doing the exact same thing, except with 100% reliability. The kitty hissed and started provoking the bunny with a smug swagger, strutting with utter confidence despite her clearly battered state. It was almost as if she was deliberately mocking the bunny for his efforts.

Tanya grimaced when she saw that the Purrloin wasn't knocked down by the attack. She knew that was a risk that could possibly be taken, but she didn't have to like it. It gave an opportunity for a counterattack from the enemy pokemon and since Daniel was badly posioned, the damage would slowly rack up over time.
"Goddamn that Purrloin is annoying." Tanya commented in frustration when Seria commanded the pokemon to use Swagger. Daniel watched as the opponent as she started swaggering around the arena in a mocking gesture. Daniel started jumping around in anger, disorientating it while the poison damage continued to tick. Since it was bad poision, it wasn't too bad at first. Tanya knew it was only going to get worse with time.
"Daniel! Try to hit it once more with your Dizzy Punch!" Tanya yelled, obviously getting swayed by the emotions of the battle. She wanted that Purrloin to fall already and it wasn't helping that it was just being as annoying as it possibly could to the pokemon. Luckily, swagger meant that it's offensive power increased massively, meaning that all of it's hits were coming in with increasingly large power.
Daniel, still jumping about in confusion and anger, tried to move towards the enemy pokemon. It still staggered left and right a bit, the confusion's effect obviously showing, but it was still putting in an admirable effort. Once he thought he was close to the Purrloin, he tried to make a swipe at it with its fist.

Seria smirked as Tanya looked a bit frustrated. The bunny was confused, and though Swagger guaranteed reliable confusion, it also had the side-effect of boosting power immensely. However, Seria had a trick up her sleeve planned for that one. First though, Tanya commanded the Buneary to try and fight through his confusion and retaliate with another Dizzy Punch. He tried with much effort to break through his confusion, but unfortunately for him, by the time he got close to the stumbling Severa, and extended his fist out for a swipe, Severa rolled over and made the momentum from Buneary's swing excessive, and thus he ended up hitting himself.
Seria nodded as she saw the Buneary hit himself. However, he was able to quickly come back to his senses, which meant that the next attack would most likely knock Severa out. This in mind, Seria had already exhausted her non-offensive options between poisoning and confusing the bunny. Now it was time to strike back. "Good work, Severa! Now try and do as much damage as possible with Foul Play!" Seria commanded once more with conviction. Nodding weakly, Severa attempted to use the bunny pokemon's frustration and disoriented state against it, lunging at it and jumping on its back, tugging and waggling on its arms and head to force it to flail around and hurt itself while also trying to get Severa off him.

Tanya let out a loud scream of frustration when Daniel hit himself. Tanya didn't expect Seria to be this annoying to fight against. This was nearly as bad as Astrid completely walling her offense with Steel type pokemon. She felt useless to help Daniel as the pokemon recoiled from the damage taken by itself.
What made it worse was that the Purrloin knew how to use Foul Play. Turning the attack stat of Daniel against himself, the pokemon was forced to repeatedly hit itself until the damage from poison hit him again. Daniel felt the energy leaving him as he fell on the floor unconscious.
Tanya gritted her teeth, returning Daniel to his pokeball. The battle took a turn for the worse due to her trying to be safe. If she had used Jump Kick, maybe she would've finished off the pokemon. In any case though, her determination to win just grew stronger as she nodded at Dani.
"Dani! Eliminate the nonsense and destroy all in your path with Sludge Bomb!" She screamed, her anger clearly visible with her frustrated hand gestures and battle stance. Dani slowly moved forwards, accumulating a large ball of slimy-looking substance before launching it straight at the Purrloin, hoping to finish it off with the attack.

Seria winced when she saw Tanya look visibly annoyed at the situation, Severa had managed to turn the tide and barely took down the opposing Buneary. Truth to be told, Seria had to be thankful that Tanya decided to be more cautious instead of just launching a decisive strike. That hesitation surely cost her. However, there was no time to celebrate. Seria waited in anticipation of the next Pokemon, which was none other than the Skrelp, the purple kelp-like Pokemon which floated out after the Buneary was returned. Severa also winced and looked vaguely annoyed, but it was much too weak to do much more than that.
The Skrelp accumulated a ball of poisonous bile which was very similar to the poisonous saliva Severa had some how magicked from her stomach, and soon the kitty became the recipient of a huge ball of exploding slime. The venom seeped into her fur and skin which was more than enough to knock her out, as she wheezed and fainted then and there. Dang... Severa couldn't take more punishment... And Antenora is weak to the Poison attack... What can I do... Ugh, I have no choice! "You did wonderful, Severa... Come back!" Seria grimaced as she recalled Severa. She took out another Pokeball, and threw out Antenora.
"Alright, Antenora... Be careful, that Sludge Bomb will hurt you lots! But you gotta do your best, okay hon? Open with your Leech Seed!" Seria pointed at the Skrelp and soon Antenora nodded, launching a plethora of seedlings at the Skrelp with her antlers, and soon the saplings extended and let briars strike the underside of the Skrelp, as if in attempt to absorb energy.

Tanya pumped her fist in the air when Dani managed to take the Purrloin down. So far, she had defeated one opponent. Since Seria came from the Nature Dorm, there was a high chance that the next pokemon to come out would be weak to Dani's poison. If things went her way, she had the win in the bag.
Her suspicions were correct when Seria sent out a Deerling. It seemed like she knew it was going to be an uphill battle, which was somewhat reassuring to Tanya. She wanted to win this battle and show just how strong a trainer she could really be. Even though Seria was her friend, she really didn't want to lose to her.
Tanya winced when Seria called out to her pokemon to use Leech Seed. Things could get out of control if she let her gain enough hp from her Dani via that damage and it could put her at a disadvantage. Luckily for her though, Dani moved over to the right, causing the seeds to miss their target.
"That's the way Dani! Let's show her how we do things in Wave Dorm by attacking with Sludge Bomb!" Tanya declared, spinning erratically around in a circle as she did so, the battle shifting towards her. The grin was back on her face as she felt the tides shift.
Dani once again started accumulating the bile once again, letting it reach a satisfactory size, before shooting it at the Deerling. The same type effective bonus alongside the fact that it was super effective meant that this attack was probably going to really hurt. Tanya smirked at how the battle went, thanking her lucky stars that she didn't have to deal with Leech seed for at least one more turn.

Seria frowned as she saw the Skrelp evade the attacks. She wasn't used to seeing it not land. Oh... it's over. I can't win this anymore... I can't take such a Pokemon down with one hit... Seria grimaced again as she saw Antenora take another Sludge Bomb to the face, clenching her fists as she saw her Deerling get splattered by poisonous acid, which made her look very weak as she coughed and wheezed. The next attack would no doubt take her down if it was of the same severity as the Sludge Bomb. Shuddering, she sighed and moved closer to her weakened Antenora. I've got no choice. I've got to do as much damage as possible, and hope for the best. Here's to Arceus. Seria sighed and looked with conviction ahead, wiping away her grimace.
"I'm sorry, Antenora, but we've not got a choice. I've got your back, buddy. Now, Double-Edge!!" Seria called out almost desperately, one could almost see how torn she felt by making her Pokemon commit to a move that would no doubt result in her getting knocked out. Antenora weakly nodded and began galloping as fast and as fiercely as she could, energy allowing, as the momentum built up more and more, and Antenora attempted to collide and ram into the Skrelp in full collision, as strong as she could.
Double-Edge was said to be incredibly powerful, though it had intense recoil. Combined with Deerling's unique typing, the Double-Edge would do some serious damage. However, Seria didn't know if she would make it...

Once again, the attack succeeded. Tanya could see that victory was within reach. While she wanted to be happy, when she looked over at Seria, she could tell that she was worried about her Deerling. Tanya was impressed with how the deer pokemon was standing after such an attack. However, it looked like it was on it's last legs and she knew Dani could take at least one attack from it, so she pretty much had this victory in the bag.
It looked like they were going for an all-out attack, putting everything in line to hopefully defeat Dani in a single turn. As the Deerling started running towards her, Dani braced herself from the oncoming assault. Indeed, once the attack hit, Dani flew into the air, skidding along the floor as the attack damaged her heavily. Fortunately, she was just able to push himself up, but Tanya could see that it was taking all of her energy to do so.
"Put the Deerling out of it's misery with another Sludge Bomb!" She commanded, extravagantly pointing forward, towards Seria and her pokemon. After taking some time to compose itself after the attack, Dani started to accumulate the same ball of bile that he had accumulated many times before. Once again, Dani launched the ball at her opponent, seeing it soar in the air and collide with the Deerling.
