Stand Up and Get Ready To Battle (William/Battle)

Tanya was already waiting for her opponent on the beach, anticipation for the battle exciting her. She had chosen a part of the beach that wasn't crowded with people, not wanting others to get hurt by accident during their pokemon battle. Even though her opponent hadn't arrived, she already took the pokemon she was going to use for her battle out. Daniel was in her hands, looking forward in innocent curiosity, wearing a weird black and white target around her neck. To her right, Christopher had it's arms crossed, a proud look on his face and facing away from his trainer. To her left stood her newest pokemon, Christian, looking expectantly forward while pawing his right front hoof, impatiently waiting for his opponent to come. She wondered if she ran too quickly to the beach and accidentally lost Will. That would've been really silly. {Tanya's Pokemon} Daniel the BunearyGender: Male Ability: Klutz Held Item: Ring Target Normal Moveset: Dizzy Punch, Jump Kick, Charm, Entrainment Extra Moveset: Switcheroo, ----, ----, ---- Christopher the SnivyGender: Male Ability: Overgrow Held Item: N/A Normal Moveset: Tackle, Growth, Leer, Leaf Tornado Extra Moveset: N/A Christian the PonytaGender: Male Ability: Run Away Held Item: N/A Normal Moveset: Flame Charge, Flare Blitz, Fire Spin, Fire Blast Extra Moveset: N/A

At the arrival of Will, Tanya let go of Daniel, the Buneary jumping to land in front of Tanya. She gave him a friendly wave, smiling happily due to the fact that she didn't lose him completely.
"It's cool, I just hope you're ready to battle~." Tanya called out in a challenging tone, taking out her pokedex as she watched Will choose the pokemon he was going to use for their battle. She didn't need the pokedex to tell her what Mawile was, but she briefly looked over it to gain information on the Tyrunt and the Blitzie.
Once she saw what pokemon Will was going to use as his first combatant, Tanya already knew what she wanted to do. Picking up two of her pokeballs, she returned Daniel and Christopher to their pokeballs, leaving behind her Ponyta to lead the battle. Once she had sent her pokemon back, she smirked at Will.
"Your time has come to shine Christian, show them what you've got with Fire Spin!" She commanded with gusto, spinning in a circle before stopping and pointing in the direction of Will and his Mawile.
Christian pranced forward until he was a safe distance away from Tanya before inhaling air. After a moment, he blew out a stream of fire that began circling around until it formed a vortex. Once the vortex had formed, it moved ominously towards the Mawile, the flames spinning rapidly.

She let out a dissatisfied huff when the Fire Spin missed. That was going to set her back quite a bit. She knew that Ponyta weren't known for their sturdiness and she had hoped that by using the Fire Spin, she would be able to trap the Mawile and prevent it from escaping Christian's attacks.
Tanya physically winced as the claws clamped down on Christian, the fire pokemon crying out in pain as he munched down on him. After the attack, Christian was still able to stand up relatively strong, but he did show a few signs of damage. While Tanya knew she could try for another Fire Spin, she wasn't sure if it was going to be effective in the long run anymore.
"Rush in with Flame Charge!" Tanya commanded, slashing her hand through the air. Christian started coating himself in bright flames, pawing at the floor again in order to get ready to charge. Once the flames started to dance, Christian charged, rushing quickly towards his enemy and smashing into him with all his force, the flames igniting hotter and increasing the speed of Christian.

Tanya surveyed the battle, watching the tides shift in her favor as the Mawile got hit by the Flame Charge. While she could've easily commanded him to attack with Flare Blitz, there was no guarantee that the move would finish the opponent off, so she forwent the decision due to the amount of damage that would be self inflicted by the attack.
When William changed pokemon from Mawile to Tyrunt, she knew she couldn't keep Christian in. Not only was Tyrunt a Dragon type, meaning that his fire moves would be ineffective against him, he was also a Rock type pokemon, meaning that it probably had some super effective moves against the opponent.
"It's time to retreat Christian." Tanya called out, holding Christian's pokeball in the air as she used it to put Christian back for another fight. He was still relatively strong, so she could probably send him out against the Mawile and finish him off with a Flare Blitz. Tanya quickly chose another pokeball and held it tightly in her hands.
"When the tides of battle change, you must be ready to shift your tactics. Come to the field, Daniel!" Tanya rehearsed, throwing her pokeball high into the air. Daniel jumped out of it and flipped onto the sand. Once he landed, he looked towards his opponent and gave him a menacing glare, quite the odd look for the bunny pokemon.
Switched out Christian the Ponyta for Daniel the Buneary.

The tactics that Will was using were starting to really excite Tanya. This was the first time she had encountered a trainer who changed about their pokemon while fighting, an effective tactic for shifting around the advantage of the match. This was further aided by the use of Stealth Rock, one move that could prove to be annoying later on. Daniel watched as a whole bunch of rocks started floating around the battlefield, wary about what they were going to do.
Tanya was shaking with excitement, loving the thrill that came from coming up with tactics and shifting the field towards her favor. Since the move was going to deal damage to any pokemon entering the battlefield, Tanya knew that she wasn't going to be able to use Christian much. If she was going to use him for anything, it would be for one all out attack to hopefully finish off the Mawile. It was an effective gambit for the long run, but she was going to take advantage of the situation.
"Daniel, fly in the air and strike with a Jump Kick!" Tanya declared, swiping the air in an elaborative gesture. Daniel rolled up his ears then jumped backwards, extending his ears onto the floor. This caused him to launch across the battlefield, his foot aimed right at the pokemon. Since it was a fighting type move, she knew this was going to hit for super effective damage, so long as it did hit. There was a chance of it missing, which would turn the tide of the battle in an unfavorable way.

"That's the way Daniel!" Tanya cheered as he landed a hit right on the snout of the enemy Tyrunt. When Daniel landed the kick, he used it to launch off his opponent and flip in the air, gracefully turning showing his previous experiences in battling. Tanya mused on the thought that it could probably do pretty well in pokemon contests, with the dramatic nature of the move.
It seemed that Will didn't have as much control over the Tyrunt as he could've possibly had since the pokemon began to stomp around the battlefield, using Earthquake instead of the Dragon Claw that his trainer commanded to use. Tanya had to plant herself into the floor, maintaining stability while the earth shook around her. Daniel didn't have that luxury though and as he landed, the shaking of the earth caused him to lose his balance and smash into the floor. When the earthquake stopped, Daniel pushed himself up and jumped, readying back into a battle pose against the Tyrunt.
"Let's do this thing! Use Jump Kick once more!" Tanya commanded. Once again, Daniel curled up his ears and jumped backwards. Extending his ears to push off the floor, he quickly flew once more towards the Tyrunt, flying feet first with all of its might.

Tanya pumped her fist in the air when she managed to knock the Tyrunt out. She was pleased with how the battle was going and she could feel all the adrenaline pumping through her veins. If she was able to keep up this momentum, she had this win in the bag. She couldn't lose her focus though, narrowing her eyes as her opponent sent in his next pokemon, the Blitzle.
Daniel had only finished landing when he looked up at the pokemon bathed in a coat of flames. He didn't have time to brace himself before the pokemon smashed into him, the flames burning his fur a little as he tumbled backwards in the sand. While Daniel had been quite injured from that attack, he was still able to push himself up, though not without some effort on his part. Even as he adopted his battle pose, he was still unsteady from the attack.
"If you are to fall, be sure to do as much as you can! Jump Kick once more!" Tanya declared, eyes blazing with spirit. While it was safer to attack with Dizzy Punch, the fact that the Blitzle knew Flame Charge meant that she was hesitant about Christopher's chances in a balanced fight. She hoped to inflict as much damage as possible on the opponent before bringing in Christopher. From there, he would have a much better chance at surviving.
Curling up his ears once more, Daniel jumped backwards and pushed his ears into the floor. Flying at breakneck speeds, Daniel extended his foot forward, wanting to inflict as much damage as he could in one last attack.

Tanya was glad that the attack hit. She knew that Daniel wasn't going to last long, but he was able to get off some damage onto the enemy Blitzle. Still, watching him hit right on the forehead was stunning and once again, the Buneary used the pokemon's head as a springboard to launch herself in the air.
Unfortunately, it looked like the Buneary did something to royally piss off the Blitzle. Therefore, while Daniel soared in the air, lightning bolts quickly rushed towards him and zapped him in the air. Letting out an anguished cry, Daniel crashed into the sandy floor, obviously unable to get up after that attack.
"You were fantastic out there Daniel." She commiserated, putting Daniel back in his pokeball. Reaching for Christopher's pokeball, she quickly did some calculations. While it was true that Christoper could probably survive the Stealth Rock damage and at least one Flame Charge, she wasn't sure whether or not to use Growth. It probably wasn't going to survive more than two attacks and while it could gain more power by using Growth, she wasn't sure the stat gains were enough to finish off the Blitzle. She knew she was on the ropes. If she couldn't defeat Blitzle with Christopher, she was done for.
"I know you can do this, come on out Christopher! Conjure up a storm with Leaf Tornado!" Tanya yelled, throwing her pokeball out onto the field. When the Snivy came out, the stealth rocks activated and flew right at Christopher, slashing him for light damage. Stamping his foot, he glowered angrily at the enemy Blitzle, thinking that it was the one that attacked him.
Tilting his head backwards, he started blowing up a bunch of green wind, forming a spiral. Using his tail, he started chucking leaves into it, the leaves spinning around vigorously within the tornado. Christopher then threw his head forwards, directing the wind at the enemy Blitzle. Tanya crossed her fingers, her mind focused on the battle.

Tanya raised her eyebrow at the Blitzie trying to hide behind the rocks. She didn't think that the rocks were big enough to block out the attack. Her suspicions were correct when the zebra pokemon was not only hit by Christopher's attack, but the floating rock she tried to use for defense as well. This inevitably lead to the zebra pokemon being knocked out.
"That's the way Christopher!" Tanya cheered as Christopher crossed his arms and let out an indignant huff. Tanya giggled quietly to herself, making sure that the proud Snivy didn't see her. She secretly found his actions to be adorable, but wouldn't dare let him know that. She knew he was a very proud pokemon.
When Mawile came out again, Tanya didn't think she could do much with Christopher. Both of the offensive moves it had wouldn't be able to put even a single dent in the opponent due to its Steel typing. Knowing that, she instead was going to make it as easy for Christian to finish off.
Christopher rolled on the floor when hit with the iron head, sand getting all over his scales. Huffing angrily, Christopher stood up and started trying to brush off all of the sand on him, fussing about with how he looked as he waited for an order. He winced a bit in pain as he set about cleaning, the added effects of stealth rock clearly putting a toll on his ability to stay conscious.
"Put fear into the opponent with Leer!" Tanya shouted. At the sound of Tanya's order, Christopher stopped fussing about with the sand. Instead, he slowly turned his head to face the Mawile that had just attacked him. He then put his arms on his hips and glared menacingly at the Mawile, trying to put fear into him.
Used Leer, lower defense of Emmanuel by 1 stage.

Tanya felt bad that she couldn't do much except let Christopher get defeated. It wasn't like he could do anything else meaningful with his attacks, so the only thing he could do was make their victory an assured deal. She clenched her jaw as the Mawile started thrashing Christopher with repeated hits, eventually causing Christopher to collapse onto the floor.
"I'm sorry my friend, it was the only thing I could do." Tanya lamented, returning him back to his pokeball. She reached for her final pokeball, the one that contained Christian. She was sure that he could finish off the Mawile. Things had turned in her favor, so it was now time for the final blow.
"The final act has arrived and it's time for the curtain to fall. Do the honors, Christian!" She commentated, twirling gracefully while throwing her pokeball high in the air. Christian landed on the floor, bracing himself as the rocks started cutting into him. He still stood after the attack though, itching for a fight as it pawed repeatedly at the ground.
"Finish the Mawile off in style! Flame Charge!" Tanya demanded, spinning on the spot and then pointing aggressively towards William. Tanya began to paw the ground faster and faster, the flames growing higher on his body before he ran at breakneck speeds and smashed into the Mawile, putting restrained force into his attack. While she could've used Flare Blitz, she reckoned a Flame Charge would be enough to finish him off.

"Awesome job Christian!" Tanya called out, returning the Ponyta to his pokeball. Her strategies worked out in the end and it lead to victory. She was really proud of what her pokemon did and she felt that they executed their roles well. She was glad she payed attention to the Battle Tactics class. It made her want to come up with ways to get the most use out of the pokemon that she had.
"Thanks a lot, your pokemon packed quite a punch too! I'm glad we had the battle" Tanya replied, scratching the back of her head in slight embarrassment. It was pretty awesome to receieve praise from her opponent and she could tell that with every battle that she had, she was slightly improving. It was only a matter of time till she was able to defeat tougher opponents.
"To be honest, I really got inspired by Miss. Eisenberg to find unorthodox ways to use my pokemon in battle in order to suit the purposes I had for them." Tanya admitted, smiling happily at the thought of how the lessons were already having an impact on her battling. "For example, with Christian, I like focused on him dealing as much fire damage as possible. He has high offensive stats but super weak defenses. My current strategy with him revolves around trapping opponents with Fire Spin to prevent them from escaping, then using Flame Chare, Fire Blast or Flare Blitz to deal as much damage as possible before going down. I know he's not super sustainable, so he's there for one thing, taking down specific targets like your Mawile."
One of her favorite things to do was crafting theories on battling. Even before the academy, she would like to see how she could make the most out of the movesets that her parents' pokemon had. In fact, from watching that battle, she couldn't help but think that Christopher played an interesting role in the battle. Her eyes suddenly lit up as she thought up about an idea.
"Up until now, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with Christopher, but today's battle gave me an idea about how I could use him in battle! Thanks man!" Tanya said, extending her arm out for Will to shake. It was then that she thought up about an idea. "Hey! Maybe sometime we could go over possible strategies with your pokemon! I reckon your pokemon have a lot of potential, like your Tyrunt for example. That earthquake was really something. What do you think? It could be fun?"

"Oh yeah, we totally do!" Tanya exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips and smiling happily. Her enthusiasm for pokemon seemed to be shared with a lot of people in the academy. While she shouldn't be surprised, Tanya was just so happy that things were going well for her. It was like her mother said. Everything happens for a reason. She knew that the academy was going to be good, but it wasn't going to be this good.
"Hey, do you wanna head back to dorms together? We could talk about stuff on the way back!" Tanya proposed, walking forwards for a bit before turning back and facing Will. "It beats going back on my own, that's for sure. So come on, let's go!"
