Gray Garden Academy was the workings of a single man, Bryce Wright. Oddly enough Bryce’s involvement with Pokemon was all on a simple whim. He never had a drive to become a famous trainer, breeder, or what have you. Even though he has had his fair share of experience with the creatures, and even caught one, it never prompted him to go out on a grand adventure. He did not like the concept of dirtying himself in mud, dirt, gravel, etc. to become a famous trainer whose very appearance brings a crowd. Bryce instead decided that he would be the leader of the people who cultivated their minds; the Headmaster and Chairman of his very own Pokemon Academy.
Although Bryce was never interested in becoming a trainer himself, what he was interested in was seeing how much talent seemed to have a hard time showing their skill. The answer to that was simple; give them a controlled environment, in an area frequently migrated to by Pokemon and with enough resources to accommodate thousands of people, as well as an entire city.
His search led him to a large island to the east of Hoenn, Harmonia Island, it was called. Luckily enough, it had a running city called, Mavro City. The economic status of the city was unsightly but it wasn't enough to drive him away. After all his main concerns were still the same. It had the city; though it could use some work, all he needed to find out now was if it had the proper fauna. Bryce was surprised by what he found. Not only did the island have all the proper climates to facilitate all kinds of Pokemon, it was hypothesized to contain nearly every species of Pokemon within. Whether this had a sound base or not, he would leave to his students.
Within five years his academy was up; Gray Garden Academy, it was named. A fitting name considering the island’s name as well as the city’s. Soon, all of the pieces started to fall together. The city began to develop, soon becoming a premiere vacation destination, and when people came on their vacations, Gray Garden Academy’s name and office number would be the first thing they see. Bryce would make sure of that. With his academy only growing, and his graduation rate staying at a modest level, he had indeed achieved his goal. His school was going to be the one responsible for the new group of experienced trainers.
