“Oh god, oh god, oh god!” Sapphira murmured to himself as he tiptoed around pools of bubbling muck. This was awful, terrible, such a travesty shouldn’t befall such beautiful people. The boy had been taking a stroll, just a bit of morning exercise; of course he had been admiring himself in the polished surface of the back of his Pokédex while on his stroll and become hopelessly lost in this awful mire. Pools of muck threaten to dirty his shoes and pants, dying trees wreathed in brambles would cut and pull at his clothes, but the worst part was that his hair had been ruined by the humidity, the hours he spent combing it to silky perfection gone down the drain.
Chewing his bottom lip the boy would release his Sandile; maybe Jacques would know how to get out of this wretched place? “Oh Jacques, you can lead me out of here right?” He would ask the little Pokémon, the crocodilian letting out a small hiss as a pool of muck released a few gas bubbles. Holding his nose and blanching at the rancid smell of the gas Sapphira would start to try and trek his way out, picking through the land carefully with his Pokémon hot on his heels, the Sandile hating this as much as his master did.

As the trainer and his Pokémon ran scrimshaw through the Mire, thoughts of escape would soon be replaced by hopeless dread. Stopping to catch his breath Sapphira would pick up the tiny Sandile, they could get out of here faster if it was just him running. Thankfully Jacques was about as finicky as his owner, and had avoided much of the muck and mud, even though it meant taking longer to get through this place. Walking with his Pokémon in arms Sapphira would do his best to avoid the brambles and vines that choked the dying trees, which was no easy task when someone was not trying to land in a bubbling pit of mud. Of course with those two things coupled, it meant that Sapphira would have a miserable time trying to get out. All that on top of the Mire looking generally the same no matter where he was, was just the icing on the cake at that point.
As Sapphira was picking his way through, the boy wouldn’t notice the green blur that was flying from tree to tree at a rather spectacular speed. Blindsided by what he didn’t know, Sapphira and Jacques would be knocked off their dry patch and into the half mud half water mixture that saturated this place, the boy giving a shriek and his Pokémon letting out a startled hiss.
The cold muck seeped through Sapphira’s cloths and down to the skin, the boy howling in rage as the Treecko would stumble around a few meters away, having not seen the Water Dormer until the last second. Picking himself up Sapphira would let out a shout in anger, his clothes were ruined, along with his hair, and by the feel of makeup running with the watery mud that he had landed in, his morning ritual was just put to waste. Of course Jacques wasn’t happy either, the small Sandile covered in head to toe with mud. Sapphira and his Pokémon would whirl and look for the thing that had hit them, the small Sandile letting out an indignant hiss as it spotted the Treecko, the little crocodile looking as intimidating as it could. Before Sapphira could even give the young Pokémon an order, Jacques had already whipped a face full of mud towards the other Pokémon in a makeshift Sand-Attack. Letting out a cry and pawing at its eyes the Treecko would try to use a Mega Drain in response, of course with its partially blinded state, it was pretty easy for the Sandile to dodge the attack. Sapphira would stick back, he knew Jacques could probably handle himself, the boy was more concerned with cleaning himself off anyhow.
The Sandile would rush the Treecko the sneaky Pokémon using its tail to swipe tree gecko’s legs out from under it, tripping the Pokémon up before delivering a nasty head-butt to the Treecko’s stomach. Letting out a cry of Foul Play, the Treecko would follow up with a tackle that moved at nearly untraceable speeds, Jacques having no time to even react to the Quick Attack. Now mostly cleaned off Sapphira would realize just what his Pokémon was doing. It was a battle, now wishing he didn’t miss the first class of Battle Tactics the boy would chew his bottom lip, unsure of what to do. “Jacques Use Earthquake!” He would shout out, that was his Pokémon’s most powerful move right? It should work? Of course Jacques knew better than the unexperienced boy that was his trainer, or at least thought he did. Rolling his eyes the Sandile would latch his teeth on the Treecko’s tail as he rushed past before pushing off and slamming his own body into the Grass Pokémon’s back, knocking it on its face before backing off to see if the Treecko would get up.
Seeing his Pokémon not listen to him at all ticked the boy off just a bit. Letting out a hiss of irritation Sapphira would scowl at his Pokémon and watch, not wanting to get into the middle of a battle between two Pokémon. Besides once one was tired out, he’d just take them both and, find a way out of here or something.
Grunting and groaning the little Treecko would start to stand back up it seemed that the Pokémon didn’t lack for tenacity. Rising unsteadily to its feet the small Pokémon the small Pokémon would look to Jacques, its eyes getting an odd gleam as the Sandile approached it to preform another Foul Play. Of course having used Detect it was easy for the Treecko to dodge the move, when Jacques followed up with another Sand-Attack though the blinded tree gecko would flail around and send out an Energy Ball. Sapphira had to leap out of the way to avoid the move as it went wide. After that Jacques would slip between the Treecko’s legs and swipe them out from under it before delivering another nasty head-butt. This third use of Foul Play seemed to leave the little Sandile satisfied. Trotting away from the Treecko with a pleased smirk, Sapphira would only glower down at the little creature, it seemed he was more trouble than he was worth half the time. Grumbling the boy would fish for the Pokémon’s ball and return it. If anyone or anything right now knew the way out, it would be the badly beaten and partially blinded Treecko that was lying in the mud.
Walking over to it, the boy having long given up at avoiding the muck after having thoroughly ruined his clothes, hair, and make up he would look down at the poor thing. Bending over to see if it was still awake, and by his luck it was, Sapphira would try to get the little Pokémon’s attention. “Hey, hey you.” He would say while snapping in front of the Pokémon, trying to get it to focus. “If I heal you, you show me the way out of here? Got it?” He told the creature while fishing for a berry and an Academy Ball. He knew enough that Treecko evolved into a rather sleek and obviously fantastic looking Sceptile, so why not catch it? Holding the ball in front of the Treecko and the berry just off a ways, the boy would make sure that the Pokémon before him registered both. “Now if you get in here…” He said while shaking the ball. “I’ll let you out and give you this…” He continued shaking the berry. “And you’ll lead me out of here? Does that sound good?” He asked the Pokémon, the little thing weakly reaching for the ball before pressing its hand to the little release switch, a blast of light encapsuling the injured Pokémon before it was sucked in, the Academy Ball shaking lightly.
