Time for more Pokémon hunting... well... searching for Pokémon would be a better way to put it than that, but you get the idea hopefully. This time, Chris had decided to go somewhere entirely new... one thing his team was certainly lacking was anything with fire type moves, sure eventually Sol could provide coverage there, but it'd certainly make much more sense having a strong fire type, it'd certainly help against any steel or bug types that Chris could possibly encounter, and given bug is strong against dark it certainly makes sense to get something that's strong against it.

Instead of Dusk being outside of the Pokeball, this time it was Xantra, although he was being under constant surveillance by Chris... specifically to avoid fighting anything he didn't want to try and catch, that and Dusk didn't seem comfortable heading into a volcano, which makes sense with her being an ice type. "Remember Xantra, we aren't here to fight the first Pokémon we see, we're here to search for something suitable for the team, most likely a decent fire type" Chris stated, Xantra tried to be defiant, but a harsh glare quickly made him understand that Chris wasn't here to argue... he knew his role here was to stop Pokémon from just rushing in to attack, it was Midnight who was Actually going to be doing the Battling this time.

As Chris and Xantra continued through the passages of the volcano, the temperature of the area was clearly getting to Chris, he was in no way, shape or form used to heat like this, having came from Agate and Lilycove, both of which are nothing like this place in general. Xantra didn't even seem bother by the temperature, with him merely shrugging it off, it was quite clear he either was quite used to heat, or he just didn't care about it... either one would make sense, him being a water type after all. Soon enough, Chris found himself taking a small break in order to better adjust to the current temperature, during this time Xantra seemed to become quite territorial... not much surprise there.

Eventually something was noticed by Xantra, and he was clearly preparing to attack with, although Chris quickly intervened, stopping it from actually attacking while Chris was heading over to investigate. all it was, was just a small Aron, it didn't mean anyone any harm... now then, time to think about if an Aron would actually come in useful or not... sure it has great physical defense and decent stats in general, and even more insane physical defense later on, but would it really help cover the weakness? would he really be much use over a good fire type? probably, but we were here for a fire type, not a steel type.

Chris found himself heading off further into the passages with Xantra following, leaving the Aron behind.

(pass... I will admit Aron actually isn't half bad... but I honestly would prefer a Growlithe, given a giant metal monster wouldn't really fit with the rest of Chris's team)

As the two kept heading on deeper into the Volcano, Chris found himself sighing, he'd kind of expected to see more Pokémon by now in such a place, although upon giving it some thought, Xantra's presence was probably scaring all the smart fire types away, I mean... if I was say a Cyndaquill or something like that and a Crawdaunt appeared, I'd probably hide or just run away, wouldn't make sense to try and attack it out of nowhere, that'd just end badly. Xantra seemed to be getting strangely fidgety... as if he didn't like this place for some reason... strange, but he'd just have to put up with It for now.

Eventually, the two felt another presence watching them, causing Chris to begin looking around to try and identify the source, eventually finding it to be a Vulpix... not that bad actually, sure it wouldn't be all that good offensively, but Vulpix isn't a bad Pokémon in any way, shape or form. Upon the Vulpix seeing Xantra though, it immediately ran away, quickly getting out of sight. Chris merely sighed and kept moving, heading off to see if he could find a fire type who wouldn't be so easily intimidated.

Eventually, Chris and Xantra found themselves at a point they couldn't safely get past... which meant turning back, great, a trip with no good catches or even Pokémon to battle... not the best trip, that's for certain, although it's still possible to find something on the way back... just not as likely. As the two headed on back, once again they got the feeling they were being watched... great... well... not all that surprising really, hopefully it's actually something decent this time.

The two watched as a Slugma slowly moved it's way around... Slugma eh... not a chance at all, first of all it's a slug, why would I want a slug on my team out of all things... second... even if it does evolve, that'll just make it even worse in terms of coverage, with it having quite a few weaknesses... so it wouldn't be all that much use. Sending out Midnight, the Murkrow merely glanced towards the Slugma and grinned, understanding it was time to have some fun.

Silently motioning for the Murkrow to attack, it gladly did so, charging the Pokémon at high speed and striking it with sucker punch, causing it to slide towards the wall, taking quite a heavy amount of damage due to it's horrid defensive stats and extremely low health... although it managed to fire off a flamethrower as a counter, which struck Midnight on the left wing, causing her to drop for a moment, but she quickly recovered and struck once more, slamming the Slugma into the wall, causing it to faint. with that done, Chris recalled Midnight and headed off to exit the volcano... well... at least that's some training even if it wasn't a good run.
