Whew. Astrid could not give a sigh of relief big enough. Her gambit had bought her time, if only a little bit. She'd managed to confuse the Houndour, and it had stumbled and hurt itself because of that. She was still in the fight. Barely. Now, she just had to hope that it would stay that way for long enough for O'Batahan to do decent damage against it. That, too, was a longshot, but it was all she had at the moment. "Alright, we're still in this! Poison Fang!" Astrid called out. O'Batahan seemed to nod, then swooped down on the Houndour to sink poisoned fangs into it.

After getting hit by the harsh bite, Crispin could tell poor Valdis was a bit worse for the wear. He needed to end the fight quickly. As long as Valdis could pull through her confusion, he felt she could manage it. She would need to use something big, though... "Val, push through it! Use fire blast!" The dog blinked for a moment before shaking her head hard enough to make her ears flap. With her head cleared she scowled up at the bat before opening her mouth, a heavy flame bursting from her jaw towards the flying Pokemon. Crispin grinned with pride at his Pokemon, but kept his fingers crossed that the Zubat wouldn't find a way to avoid it. Valdis the Houndour used Fire Blast. 110BP plus STAB, 85% accuracy, 30% to burn target. yguy5xaP1-20 If 1-17, hit. If 18-20, miss. 1-10 If 1-3 and hits, will burn. 1-20·1-10

Well...shit. Astrid could already tell that it was over. The Houndour looked like it had taken a pretty bad hit from the bite, but it was still standing, didn't look poisoned, and was already recovering. And then it countered with a freaking fire blast. Astrid shut her eyes, hoping against hope that it would miss. But, the moment she heard O'Batahan squeak out a cry of pain and fall to the ground, she knew it was over.
"Sorry, O'Batahan," Astrid said, recalling the Zubat. And with that, she'd also suffered her first loss. She was hardly at her best, so it didn't feel too horrible, but she still wished that it could have gone better. Between multiple misses and very effective hits from the opponent, not much had gone her way.
Still, she looked back up at Crispin and smiled. "Hey, not bad," she said. "It went pretty awfully for me, but still. Good match."

Smiling at the little blue dog as she turned to look at her trainer, her stub of a tail wriggling, he recalled her to give her some rest. She did good, and he could tell she definitely had gotten stronger from it. Now he just had to get more of his team up to the same par and he would be set. Returning his opponent's smile with a soft one of his own he nodded, "T'anks, de seem goes ter yer. If zephyr 'adn't gotten away from dohs moves, it wud 'av been in yer favor oi'm sure. We'll 'av ter try dis again sum day!"
