As Time Drifts By (Adriel)

Tanya was slouching in one of the sofas, her eyes drifting over to the televisions that showed battles that were happening in the Academy Dome. As much as she wanted to do battle with someone, she had been quite a lot of it recently and wasn't sure if that was a really good idea. She also was running out of people to fight, which was a pressing issue.

She didn't look too happy though. She had a dissatisfied look on her face and her legs were alternating in kicks. She felt restless. She wanted some sort of stimulation. Tanya pondered what possible things she could do at the moment. She didn't know where Seria, Astrid or anyone else was nor was she really up to looking for more pokemon. Getting out a pokeball, she released Christina, who promplty started to jump around in front of her before jumping onto her lap.

"You're a cute little one, aren't you?" Tanya coddled, petting her Pikachu. Letting out happy sounds, Christina relaxed into Tanya's body, looking content and comfortable. Looking down at the Pikachu, Tanya smiled warmly. She couldn't get over how cute Christina was, even when she evolved.

[Adriel Sorano]

Adriel was wandering around the commons, though she had somewhat the opposite problem that Tanya had. Having only been on the island for a little over a day, she didn't really know anyone yet. As such, she felt awkward about the idea of just going up to a random stranger and challenging them to a battle. Especially since their Pokemon were likely to be stronger than hers. After all, most of them have probably been training theirs for a while; meanwhile, Adriel hasn't even face a single wild Pokemon yet. Once she got a couple battles under her belt, she'd probably have an easier time with challenging total strangers. For now, she was just wandering aimlessly and looking around at all the students and their Pokemon.

There was one pair in particular that caught her attention; a very cute girl with a Pikachu relaxing in her lap. With a smile, she approached the two of them, speaking in a friendly tone. "Hi there...I gotta say, your Pikachu is really cute." After a brief pause, her smile shifted into a mischievous smirk, and her tone became a little more playful "Almost as cute as her trainer~" In spite of her flirting, she still couldn't help but be charmed by the way the Pikachu was so relaxed in her trainer's lap. In fact, she was mildly jealous. Her Roselia was too self-absorbed to be seen doing such a thing, and her Golett...well, it would probably crush Adriel if it tried.

At the sound of an unfamiliar voice, Tanya looked up. Tilting her head, she took in the sight of a girl she had never seen before. Looking at her uniform, she seemed to be a member of Nature Dorm. Probably another friend for Seria to make maybe. To be honest, she hadn't seen many nature dorm kids apart from Seria. While she briefly wondered why, Tanya didn't think about it for too long and she didn't really come to any conclusion.

"Thanks." Tanya said, smiling at the girl while stroking the Pikachu. Of course, the next thing that came out of her mouth caused her body to visibly stiffen, her smile turning a little cracked as a blush rushed across her face. Her face immediately looked to the floor and she took a moment to try and adjust her face so that she didn't show the discomfort that she was feeling across her body.

"H-hey there." Tanya started awkwardly, taking a moment to get comfortable again before she started talking. "I haven't seen you before around here before. You new? Oh yeah, my name's Tanya, what about you?"

Adriel was initially amused by how flustered the other girl became, though she did notice some subtle hints of discomfort. Making a mental note to tone down her flirting a bit, she smiled when Tanya continued to speak to her. Thankfully, she had managed not to drive her away or anything like that. Wouldn't have been the first time. When asked whether she was new or not, she nodded "Yeah, I only just got here yesterday, so I haven't had much of a chance to do anything. I was thinking about trying to catch something, but I'm not really sure where to start..."

She then looked over to Tanya "Don't suppose you have any ideas, do you? I don't know a whole lot about Pokemon, so I don't really have anything in mind as far as what I want to try and capture..." She waited quietly for Tanya's input, assuming she had any. Meanwhile, she figured it couldn't hurt to introduce her own Pokemon...or at least, that was her excuse. Honestly, she was just eager to show them off, but who could blame her? Anyone would be excited about receiving their first Pokemon.

Grabbing two balls from her belt, she sent out her two starters. Her Budew greeted everyone happily. Meanwhile, her Golett simply looked around, being more mellow than the small Grass-type. Adriel smiled "By the way, these are Valentine and Titan. I'm kinda looking forward to beginning their training." She then paused for a moment, as if pondering something "So, if you don't mind my asking, was your Pikachu one of your starters?"

Luckily for Tanya, the girl seemed to lay off the teasing. In fact, she seemed to be pretty nice. She was also new, and when asking about what she could do around here, Tanya put a finger to her chin in thought. Tanya wasn't really sure what to suggest for her. Owing to the fact that she had no idea what her pokemon were. If she didn't have an idea about what her pokemon were, how was she supposed to suggest what to get?

"There are a million places to go here to catch pokemon, so unless I have an idea of what pokemon you have, I'm not sure if I can suggest anywhere." Tanya admitted, looking somewhat disappointed. Tanya was pleasantly surprised to find out that she seemed willing to show her pokemon. The two were somewhat adorable, and she found the Roselia to be pretty funny. Christina, interested in the new arrivals, jumped off Tanya's lap and onto the floor, waving excitedly at the two new arrivals.

"Oh Christina? No, she's not my starter." Tanya said, reaching for two of her pokeballs in excitement. "These two are my starters!" She exclaimed, letting Dani and Daniel out of their pokeballs. Dani stood resolutely next to Tanya, towering over her and casting a suspicious look over towards the other girl. Meanwhile, Daniel bowed extravagantly, smiling calmly as he watched over the younger pokemon.

"As for what pokemon you could get. I could tell you. Or, I could have a battle with you. Don't worry, I'm not going to use any of these pokemon. I have some pokemon that I want to train and plus a battle would be a good way to find out where your weaknesses lie. You up for one?"

(note: due to some issues with my starter, I had to downgrade my Roselia to a Budew...so...yeah. Just so you know)

Adriel blinked at Tanya's response. A battle, huh? She had already been on one before, though, to say it ended badly would be a huge understatement. The fact that she only had two Pokemon didn't help, but it was largely because she didn't have a good grasp of Type matchups. Both of her Pokemon were rather poor choices against her opponent's so that didn't help either. Since then, she's taken the time to study up on Pokemon Types and how they match up to each other. Even if her choices were a bit limited with only two Pokemon, she'd have a better idea of what to do this time.

Either way, she was eager to redeem herself after that rather bad loss, so she nodded "Alright! A battle sounds great! Is there somewhere near here where we can do it?" As she awaited a response, both of her Pokemon nodded. It seemed they were just as eager for another chance at battling as their trainer was.

Christina looked to be having fun with Adriel's pokemon, it was pretty adorable. Tanya occasionally glanced down towards the group of pokemon as Adriel accepted her offer for a pokemon battle. Since she was just starting out, she wasn't going to use any of her thougher pokemon. That wouldn't be fair. However, she did have an idea of what pokemon she wanted to use for this particular battle.

"Oh yeah, there's a battle dome really close by. Come with me and I'll show you it." Tanya exclaimed, getting out of her seat and standing up next to Adriel. Looking down at Christina, she beckoned her towards herself, causing Christina to jump up onto her shoulder. From there, Tanya started to walk towards the battle dome, occasionally turning towards Adriel and beckoning her towards the arena. "There's no point waiting around here, so let's go!"

Huh...was the battle dorm really that close by? Adriel had already been there before, but she had gone straight to it from her dorm. As such, she didn't particularly notice how close or far it was compared to everywhere else in the main building. Well, either way, she decided it'd be easier to just let Tanya lead the way, since she still didn't quite know her way around this area. At first, she had some reservations, but she was steadily finding herself looking forward to this more and more. Hopefully, this battle would go a little better this time around. Deciding it'd be easier than having the two of them lumber behind her, she returned her two Pokemon, then followed after Tanya.
