Rematch of the Waves (Battle/William)

Tanya started to do her pre-battle stretches, working the kinks out of her body in preperation for her rematch. It wasn't like there was anything riding on this battle, she just really wanted to try out some new pokemon and having enjoyed their previous battle, Tanya was anxious to battle the fellow wave dormer again. She also wanted to see what pokemon he had accumulated as well.

"I hope you're ready for this battle." Tayna called out to Will, finishing her stretches and putting her hands on her hips. "You know the rules. 3 versus 3 battle. No fully evolved pokemon. Items allowed. That cool with you?" She took a moment to select her pokemon, choosing three pokeballs. Releasing all of her pokemon, Nicholai, Derrick and Nicola appeared beside her. The Combee went about happily flying around her head while Derrick calmly landed to her right. On her left, Nicholai leered at William, as if trying to intimidate him.

"Here are the pokemon I'm using. Pick your poison."

Pokemon Using: Combee, Rufflet, Carvanha.

"Tough lineup you've got over there." Tanya commented, looking thoughtfully at each of the pokemon he sent out. One second stage pokemon and two powerful first stage pokemon. She was really going to have her work cut out her her if she didn't want to lose almost immediately. It was going to be a challenge, but one she could hopefully surmount. Coming up with a battle strategy, she returned Nicholai and Derrick to their pokeballs.

"It'll be my pleasure." Tanya said, her excitement starting to build up as Nicola cheerily floated onto the field, swishing about as she went. "Might as well start off on the offensive. Nicola! Use Bug Buzz!" Tanya commanded, a look of determination etched onto her face. Nicola flew high above the battlefield, looking down at the Marshtomp before rapidly flapping her wings, causing waves of red sound to fly out of her and towards her opponent. Tanya wasn't expecting to win, but she was at least going to put up the best challenge she could.

Action: Nicola is sent out! Nicola used Bug Buzz

Taking a big burst of water to the face, Nicola was pushed backwards and spun out of control in the air. After a moment of flailing in the sky, the Combee managed to gain back control and steady herself in the air. However, it looked physically tired and there was the occasional droop in the sky to indicate that she wasn't going to last much longer.

"Hit again with Bug Buzz!" Tanya called out, trying to keep calm but the sense of worry starting to slowly seep in. She had to trust her pokemon to do the best they could. William was making a really strong team and honestly, Tanya's was just a bit of a hodge podge of pokemon she had found in the wild and one she got off Cameron. While some people would probably just say get the strongest, she wanted to find a way to use all the pokemon she got.

Once again, Nicola flew high in the sky and started rapidly flapping her wings, causing more red waves to fly towards the Marshtomp. Nicola looked to be putting in a monumental effort as she tried to do as much damage as she could to her opponent.

Action: Nicola used Bug Buzz

Once again, the Hydro Pump hit and she knew that it was it for Nicola. The pokemon got blasted by the water and quickly fell to the floor, falling unconscious due to the attack. Returning her to her pokeball, Tanya thought about how to proceed with the battle. Getting out another pokeball, she threw it in the air.

"Come on out Derrick! Thrash about!" Tanya called out, watching as Derrick soared out of his pokeball. Once Derrick was out, he quickly started flying towards the Marshtomp. Extending out his talons, he started repeatedly attacking Marshtomp with his claws, stomping and rampaging about as a flurry of attacks reached the pokemon. This continued for some time, with Derrick's wings flapping crazily about as he hounded down the Marshtomp. It was a powerful attack, but she was painfully aware of some of the consequences that came with it. Hopefully he'd be able to take something out before he would be taken out.

Action: Nicola fainted. Derrick the Rufflet sent out. Used Thrash.

Tanya pumped her fist when she managed to knock out the Marshtomp. That was probably one of the larger threats that she would have to face in the battle. Interested to see what he would send out next, she kept her face neutral when he sent out his Goomy. When the Goomy was ordered to use Sludge Bomb, Tanya wasn't too worried about the damage. It was a powerful attack, but she didn't think that Goomy had the best stats.

It seems her assumptions were correct, as the Rufflet didn't seem to be too badly hurt by the attack and luckily for her, he wasn't poisoned as well. There was no need for her to call out the order. Once again, the Rufflet went flying about erratically, using his talons to repeatedly slash and hit the Goomy. After attacking for a while though, Derrick eventually stopped and fell to the floor, looking disorientated and confused.

"Dang, was hoping that attack would last a little longer." Tanya muttered to herself briefly.

Action: Derrick used Thrash! Derrick is now Confused

There was actually a legitimate chance of her winning this fight. The thought had never occurred to her, but the thought excited her nonetheless. Watching the Goomy get defeated by Derrick's attacks, she was super glad to have Derrick on her team. He just seemed to be such a powerhouse and was doing work in the battle. However, seeing the Scyther come in, Tanya made sure to focus on the match.

"I don't think so!" Tanya shouted, seeing the Scyther rushing in to attack with Night Slash. "Return Derrick! Take the hit Nicholai!" Her voice boomed around the battlefield as she returned the confused Rufflet to his pokeball, getting out another ball and throwing it into the air to send out Nicholai.

Nicholai braced himself as the attack hit, sliding backwards from the intensity of the attack. However, Carvanha eyes glinted menacingly. Due to his rough skin, the Scyther also took damage from the attack. Hoping that the Scyther didn't have anything up his sleeves, Tanya surveyed the battle, smirking at William.

Action: Switched out Derrick the Rufflet for Nicholai the Carvanha. Rough Skin activates, dealing 1/8th of Scyther's max HP.

Tanya knew that Carvanha had really poor defenses. It would be a stretch to say he had any defenses at all. Just one more strong attack would easily knock out Nicholai. Even if Nicholai was knocked out in the next turn, he'd still contribute to the battle due to his ability. She had to admit, the ability was acutally quite useful. She was glad she got the pokemon off of Cameron.

When the Scyther used Cut, Nicholai winced again, bracing his body as he got slashed by the attack. With every time Scyther made contact though, Nicolai made sure to roughen up his skin so that he was dealing damage back to his opponent. Tanya did concede that the tactic was somewhat shady, but at the same time, it was part dark type. She would've been surprised if he wasn't somewhat inclined to that nature.

"Chomp down on your foes with Ice Fang!" Tanya shouted, smiling mischievously at her opponent as she spun in a circle. She wasn't sure if this attack was going to finish off the Scyther, but at least it would do a lot of damage. The Carvanha moved towards his opponent, cooling his mouth and causing his teeth to form into a similar structure to icicles. Once Nicholai reached his opponent, he opened his mouth and made a crunching gesture towards him, trying to chomp down on him with his freezing fangs.

Action: Nicholai's ability Rough Skin activates, dealing 1/8th of maximum health in damage. Nicholai used Ice Fang.

While the Carvanha was able to clamp down on the Scyther's arm, he was unable to remove his teeth from the arm before being hit by another cut. Losing energy, the Carvanha collapsed onto the floor, loosening his teeth as he lost consciousness. As a parting remark though, Nicholai did additional damage to the Scyther due to his rough skin. Returning him to his pokeball, Tanya had a knowing smile on her face.

"It's time for the finale. He flies in once again. Come on down Derrick! Soar high and attack with Brave Bird!" Tanya announced, spinning rapidly in a circle as she threw Derrick's pokeball high into the air. Once he was released, Derrick appeared high in the sky, flying higher up into the air before he reached high into the sky. At that moment, he tucked in his wings, rapidly falling to the ground and bursting into flames.

When he got close to the ground, he opened up his wings, dispersing the flames and replacing them with a blue aura as he rushed towards the Scyther and smashed into her. His eyes were closed and Derrick braced himself for the impact he would feel from the attack. Tanya had to admit that he looked impressive though.

Action: Nicholai the Carvanha knocked out. Derrick the Rufflet sent in and attacks with Brave Bird. No rolls necessary.

"You were awesome out there Derrick." Tanya encouraged, smiling happily at the Rufflet before returning him to his pokeball. Tanya today realized just how powerful her Rufflet could be. He decimated his entire team nearly single-handed. He didn't even have the ability that would make the best use out of his moveset. She was excited to practice and get better with Derrick. She reckoned he could be a real force on the battlefield if she played her cards right.

"That was a good battle Will. I'm surprised I actually won." Tanya admitted, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. She seemed almost embarrassed to win, but there was a sense of pride in being able to use her pokemon to the capacity she used in the battle. She would have to admit though. If he had used his Mawile, she would've lost horrendously.

"I got a lot of new pokemon. I like to go out and find new ones to add to my team and then make movesets that complement their abilities. It's actually pretty fun." Tanya said, enjoying talking to Will as she got closer to him. Once she got close enough to him, she extended her arm out to shake.

"I see you've got quite a lot of new pokemon as well. You've been busy as well I presume."

"This place is amazing with the wide variety of pokemon on offer. I doubt there's anywhere else like this in the world." Tanya said excitedly, grinning happily at Will. It was really cool that he seemed to be interested in the diversity of the area. It was so cool to think about how many pokemon were just waiting to be found in the wild and there were so many places that Tanya had never even been to. Just that thought alone was pretty exciting.

"I guess I'll see you around in classes then." Tanya stated, waving a friendly goodbye to William before turning around and heading towards the exit. The match gave her a lot to think about. She didn't know how long it would take, but Tanya did wonder when her new team members would evolve. She reckoned it would take some time. For the moment though, she was content with having fun and experiencing what the world had to offer her.
