Astrid made her way deep into the cliffside caves, looking for the rumored fossil cave. Well, "rumored" fit nicely into her thought process, but really it was advertised at the local PokeMart. After all, how else would they sell mining kits without somewhere nearby to use them.

And, to her surprise and good fortune, she found exactly what she was looking for. A cave full of old, old rock and showing signs of having been dug up a bit before. Perfect! Once she got inside, Astrid excitedly set to work, messing with the mining tools a bit to see what impact each of them had, then starting to dig proper. Hopefully she'd find something good.

Now that she knew where the 'mining cave' as it were was, Astrid could go back at pretty much any time. But, mining was exhausting, so she wasn't exactly going to do it all the time. She still had one more day off post-tournament, so she decided to go ahead and spend that smashing up rocks with a hammer. And some other stuff. Yeah, she didn't actually know if she was using any of these tools right at all. But it had produced results in the form of something that could be sold last time, so she had to be doing something right.

After finding nothing better than a literal rock the last time she'd come out, Astrid wasn't too enthused about coming out and putting all the work into mining again. But now, phenomenally board as she was when not out training or working on music, she felt like doing it anyway. She waited until she was in a good mood, of course, and had enough of a sense of humor to deal with finding another rock. Then, she made her way back out into the cliffside caves and set to work with hammer and pick to hopefully find something better. Her hopes were not high, but they were there.

Well, last time had left Astrid with a new, valuable member of her team and some more rare candies that were, amazingly, still usable. She was starting to suspect that everything buried in these caves had been put there intentionally, but whatever. She wasn't going to complain. In fact, it was because of that possibility (and the good haul she'd gotten last time) that she was coming right back. She took a few moments once inside the 'fossil caves' to look for a spot that hadn't been dug out too much yet, then set to work, hoping for something even resembling what she managed to find last time.
