He really hadn’t been overly pleased with his last trip fishing. He got too bored too quickly, and all for a lumpy heart shaped Pokemon he was pretty sure Jove accidentally killed. Still, it was a chance for decent Pokemon, and he didn’t have any water types on his team at all. So, he invested in a better rod and hoped his luck would improve. His last investment already put him in the green, so why not take the chances with another? After all these years his luck hasn’t really failed him yet, so may as well keep pushing it for now.

After asking politely enough times, he found someone willing to lend him a boat for the afternoon so he could really put his fishing rod to the test. It wasn’t anything big, but it would at least manage for now. Still, he didn’t keep any Pokemon out with him, worried for how sturdy the boat was. When he actually caught something, he could worry about it.

Bored bored bored.  Crispin couldn't stand just sitting here and doing nothing, it was the bane of his very existence.  He groaned, leaning back and wishing he at least brought a book to distract him from how utterly unexciting this was.  There was nothing to look at except a wide expanse of water.  No one to interact with.  Just a whole grand amount of nothing.  He was just beginning to wonder if this was such a grand idea when there was finally a tug at the line.  Jumping up in excitement, he reeled in as fast as he could.  Right up until the line snapped sending him backwards.  His face turned ten shades of purple as he resisted his urge to scream.  Finally he sighed, calming himself down and cursing like a sailor as he relined the rod, getting ready to cast again.  After all this he sure as hell wasn't turning back.

Crispin almost wished he was was able to nap, but with as annoyed as he was he couldn't even doze off.  It was probably a good thing though, since that would be in no way good for his cause.  Still, he kept wondering why on earth he was doing this to himself.  Did he really need a water Pokemon?  Grumbling to himself, he finally felt yet another tug on the line.  He was thrilled, but tried reeling in much slower this time.  Right up until the line went slack.  Cursing to himself again he reeled it in all the way, sighing as he saw the bait had been eaten clean off.  Really debating how worthwhile it was at this point, he cast the line again.

Tapping his foot on the boat to relieve some of the anxious energy he built up, Crispin didn't even think of the fact that it was probably scaring anything worth catching away.  He was just about to call quits and head back for the day when the line finally started to tug again.  Determined to not make a muck of it again, he tried to reel it somewhere in the middle this time.  Not too fast, not too slow.  The line didn't snap this time, or go slack, though it was definitely rough to pull in.  Finally the Pokemon surfaced, and Crispin balked for a moment at the huge blue fish now sitting angrily in the small boat.

Hurrying to do something he reached for his Pokeball, releasing Wesley.  "Wes, 'orn leech!"  Blinking at suddenly being released and told to attack, the Skiddo hurried to follow out with his attack, charging into the fish.  It rumbled in anger, it's powerful defense being the only thing giving it the push to hang through that overbearing attack.  It struggled, seemingly coughing up a large rock and spitting it angrily at the Skiddo.  Insulted, the Skiddo replied in kind with yet another ridiculously effective Horn Leech, making the Relicanth flop onto the floor of the small boat in a daze.  Wasting little time, Crispin threw an empty academy ball at the Pokemon, wondering why he seemed to have an affinity for attracting off colored blue Pokemon.

Grinning widely, he recalled Wesley before he dented the rented boat and tucked both of the Pokeballs away in his bag.  It looked like his fishing pole wasn't a complete waste of money, after all.  Still, he couldn't take much more of this today, and would gladly wait a while to fish again.  This wasn't exactly something he was beyond pleased with doing.  Turning the boat around he slowly worked his way back to the shore, hoping that the person he borrowed it from wouldn't notice that large hoof print in the middle of the boat.  Oh well, he thought to himself, picking up and tossing the rock that the Relicanth had thrown at Wesley earlier.  Whatever happened he would deal with when it did.
