Astrid was back out on the island, riding Quadraxis again as she searched the area. With the tournament upcoming, and too quickly for her to effectively train up more of her current Pokemon, she was out looking for more strong ones to fill in the gaps. Would they be fighting fit from the moment she caught them? Hopefully, but if they weren't then they were still more likely to be ready by the signup deadline than, say, Ollie. Or Duo. And as much as Astrid wanted to count on them, it just wasn't practical. So she was out and about, looking for more partners. Maybe one of them would be another giant robot or something.
She could dream, right?

The first thing Astrid ran across was most definitely not a giant robot. In fact it was...some crested weasel thing with prominent sharp claws. And Astrid wasn't particularly interested in that. The clawed Pokemon didn't seem to be all that interested in Astrid either, although it was giving wary glances towards the Metagross she was riding. Quadraxis stared back menacingly, lifting one of its feet to stomp on it if it tried anything. "It's fine," Astrid said after a few tense seconds. "Let's just leave it and move on." Quadraxis stayed still for several seconds, seemingly pondering this idea, then lowered its foot, turned, and walked past it.

Astrid pulled out her Pokedex as they continued deeper into the island, flipping through the pages that had shown up. To her surprise, she'd actually seen quite a few Pokemon. Just, the majority of them had either been in battle or passed by without much interaction. "Hmm..." she said, scrolling down to a familiar set of gears. "Getting ideas from Team Asshole leaves a bad taste, but this one looks pretty neat. I wonder if...eh?" After watching the gears rotate for several seconds, they froze in place on the screen. "Did it just freeze?" Astrid asked, trying to back out of Klang's entry. And sure enough, it didn't respond at all. "Is there a restart button on this?" She quickly found that as well, pressed it, and instead of going blank and shutting off the screen went to static.
"Oh come on, it's not even a month old," Astrid said, stuffing the Pokedex back in her bag. She knew she could probably crack it open and figure out what had happened, but that would have to wait until she was back in her room. Before that, she could only hope that it was some kind of interference. Fortunately, she didn't have to wait that long. The moment she tried to close up her bag, a small bulb-shaped Pokemon popped out of it, trailing almost comical-looking bolt-shaped 'wings' behind it. And immediately the pieces fell into place. "It was you?" Astrid asked. The floating electrical ghost turned to flee, but Astrid tossed out an Academy Ball in its path. Her Scraggy emerged from it, spreading her arms to 'block' it. "Confuse it before it can run off! Swagger!" Astrid called out. Ollie gladly obliged, taunting the data ghost through some rather banal means involving her elastic skin.
Immediately, the electrical ghost stopped in place and raised its side 'bolts'. Electricity crackled all over its body as it prepared to attack. Then, perhaps because it was too angry to focus, the electricity surged out of control and damaged the data ghost. "Now, Crunch!" Astrid said. Biting something that was currently sparking all over seemed like a bad idea, but Ollie was utterly fearless in taking a flying leap at the ghostly engine and chomping down on it.
This time, the electrical Pokemon did get an attack off, shooting out of Ollie's bite and firing off a ball of electricity at her. Ollie took the attack head-on and kept running despite the damage, chasing after her opponent. As soon as Astrid's order came, "Finish it with another Crunch!" the Scraggy jumped at the data ghost and bit down on it one more time, dragging it back down as she landed. When she let go, it sat partially phased through the ground and sparking weakly. The moment Ollie was clear, Astrid threw an empty Academy ball at the downed data ghost.
