With the Excavation kit at hand, Tanya promptly made her way towards the mines. She had heard that it was possible to get a whole bunch of stuff from using the kit in the Fossil Cave, so she promptly saved up the money and exploited the coupon she got from helping out at Marvo City to get herself an Excavation Kit. Using Christian as a source of light, Tanya headed to a spot in the mine. She didn't know specifics about what was a good place to mine and whatnot so she just chose a random spot and started to dig, hoping to find something useful for her adventures down here.

Wondering what was in store for her this time, Tanya entered the Fossil Cave. That's apparently what people at the academy called this place. Well, while she didn't have luck last time, there was a distinct possibility that she could find a fossil here. Apparently some fossils could be revived into pokemon. The thought of reviving dead pokemon was a bit unsettling and made her wonder briefly about the ethics of doing so. After a while though, she decided it was probably best not thinking about it and went back to digging.
To be honest though, she didn't think she was going to get one. Getting one would be nice, but there was a whole bunch of stuff in the cave to be found. Her curiosity compelled her to look harder and find something. The last thing she got sold quite well. While it wasn't bad, Tanya was interested to see what else this cave had as she began mining an area on the wall.

Last time she was in this area, she was having to fight against a swarm of Mawile. There might have been a more elegant way to approach the situation, but the sudden stream of pokemon the two of them had to face meant that the mission was probably a little harder than it was intended to be. She still managed to get through it though, which was not without a challenge. If she didn't have Brock and Gundamu, she wasn't sure if the mission would've gone as smoothly as she did. Getting out her mining kit though, Tanya began to dig, hoping to find something nice that she could use.

She wouldn't say that she was becoming good at mining, but at least she was starting to understand what she was required to do. When she thought about it, it was similar to how she knew how to harvest berries. It wasn't like she grew the plants themselves or anything, but she did know how to cultivate them and use them in future pokemon battles.
Picking up her mining kit, she went about mining. Corey was a nice find, but she was sure there was more. After all, finding that nugget was basically handing her 5000 credits. That was a lot of money to have. Still, she wondered what she really wanted from these excursions. Money or more pokemon?

Time went on and Tanya went back into the mines. Routine was setting in and she mindlessly went about the motions, hammering into the ground and trying to find something that may not even be there. She had to have faith though, since she had no proper clue if the things she was doing were actually the correct things.
How many things could be found here? She imagined that it would have to run out eventually. Will the academy do well if that were to ever happen? Maybe she was underestimating just how much she could find here. If it turned out the headmaster was pulling some extravagant scheme to repeatedly fill this place with stuff, she wouldn't be too surprised either. Maybe she was getting cynical about the academy. It was like they could do no wrong at times.
