What fools these mortals be [MOD]

The little team hadn't spent very much time exploring since their arrival. There was the fiasco at the closest city that had seen many members of the Academy off to defend the locals and their island, and that had been within the first week of Vivienne staying at the academy. She needed to figure out her class schedule and her financial situation still, but sometimes it was better just to go out and have some fun, and Pokemon needed exercise, right?

Praline was drifting along at pace with her trainer; the Flabebe wasn't Vivi's first choice of partner to bring along, that would always go to her old friend Lockpick, but her Gramps had forbidden the Klefki and girl staying together because they were bad influences on each other. Even so, she had to admit the single bloom Pokemon had grown on her since they partnered up. Praline wasn't nearly as mischievous as Lockpick had been, but she had a capricious streak that reminded the girl of the other fairy type. The other member of the team, nestled in her arms, was proof that even if the Flabebe was tiny she was somewhat capable. They'd captured the Budew before leaving Kalos, and though Marmalade was just a baby Vivienne had high hopes. Roselia and Roserade were fairly common sights in Pokemon Contests and Poke-Fashion, and training one was a point of pride. Even if all Marmalade wanted to do at the moment was cuddle, play, and coo, Vivienne was determined to prove her Gramps wrong and rise to the top.

Adding another member of their little team might be a fine start to that goal, right?

There was a rustling coming from some of the flowers, the trainer glanced at the small figure that emerged. It was grey and mottled a yellow color, and definitely adorable. A little scaly looking for a fairy for sure, but still cute enough to make her team.

"Awwww, why the tears little guy?" Vivienne cooed, kneeling and holding out one of her hands to let the baby sniff. It looked familiar, but the girl just couldn't put her finger on it. As much as she wanted to pull out her Pokedex to check what she was dealing with though, her other arm was occupied with holding a gurgling green infantile plant. The Flabebe and Budew greeted it happily, which seemed to settle down it's tears somewhat. "Now where have I seen you bef-"

The thought was interrupted by the appearance of an extremely aggressive Kangaskhan from only a few feet down the path. Seeing the trainer with her baby, the parent pokemon did what she was warrant to do; protect her young. The Kangaskhan let out a fierce growl, and a bit of a naughty smile flashed on the baby's face as it cried a few tears before darting to her.

"Why you little!" Vivienne huffed, realizing the child was using her to cover up it's own misbehaving. Hell, it was a move she would've pulled at that age. Staring at the angry Kangaskhan, the trainer blanched. Could they really fight that thing? It was so much bigger than Marmalade and Praline. Of course, her worrying wouldn't solve the problem of the beast barreling in on them, it's whole body awash in a powerful red aura as it's eyes glowed with a burning fire right before it launched an attack. Despite her studies and her nerve, Vivienne flinched down, just trying to protect the Budew from the impact.

It never came; all that did was a roar of frustration and Vivienne's eyes poking up to see Praline, in all of her tiny glory, right infront of the incoming fist. The red pulsing aura couldn't make contact with her at all. "Of course.....Fairy types are immune to Dragon type attacks." She said, somewhat awestruck at her own Pokemon standing up to that force effortlessly. The Flabebe glanced back, as if to ask what her trainer wanted her to do.

"Um.....use Moonblast Praline!" Vivienne shouted, scrambling up from the ground. The Flabebe complied, the silvery and pink glow surrounding her as moon beams burst across the Kangaskhan, driving it back. The Budew, conscious at that point, was cheering for her friend in their trainers arms. Vivienne wasn't the most experienced, but she wasn't going to let her tempo slip, especially when the Kangaskhan charged, again, at the Flabebe with no effect. "Moonblast once more!"

The dragonically enraged Pokemon was thrown back by another spray of glittering moonbeams, and didn't look too good from them either.

"Here's my chance! Let's hope this works ladies!" Vivienne cried, lobbing an Academy Ball at the injured Pokemon and watching it be sucked inside.

The Kangaskhan broke free! And looks somewhat angrier than before. Beat it to death to show that it should bow to its human masters.

The Academy ball didn't jostle for long before the Kangaskhan broke free of it, crushing the ball underneath it's heel in the process. Vivienne gritted her teeth. That's what she got for trying to be a little nice to something that had attacked her. She narrowed her eyes, watching it charge one more time only to be foiled by the Flabebe's fairy typing. After the last attack failed, the red aura dissipated and it wobbled. She'd recognize the look of a self-induced confusion from Praline's Petal Dance anywhere, and it seemed the Kangaskhan's attacks had done the same.

It was a bit of a gamble, but Vivienne had an idea, "Praline, fall back for a minute. Marmalade, I want you to hit it with a Stun Spore!"

The fairy Pokemon floated back as the Budew plopped forward; one hit from that Outrage would've knocked Marmalade out in a heartbeat, no doubt about that. Still, when the Kangaskhan managed to snap out of it's confusion long enough to attack, it did so with a quickly thrown Comet Punch that fortunately wasn't too accurate. The Budew had ample time to spew a cloud of paralyzing pollen all over it, and being confused and paralyzed at the same time was crippling the Kangaskhan. Vivienne readied another Academy Ball and watched the Kangaskhan damage itself when it tried to attack once more. "Let's wrap this up Marmalade, give it a Mega Drain!"

The Budew shot a few green tendrils that leeched a portion of the Kangskhan's health by slightly strangling it, giggling all the while; Marmalade seemed to like hurting things a little bit. Kind of creepy coming from an adorable baby Pokemon...

Vivienne tossed another ball at the Kangaskhan, which had seen better days judging from the way it was twitching.

When the Academy Ball finally stopped twitching and clicked, Vivienne let out a small sigh of relief before fetching it. Staring down at the little ball, she felt a rush of....confidence, joy, excitement? She'd done a few things in her day, but truthfully, the only Pokemon she'd captured had either had a serious disadvantage in Praline's case, or had been a baby in Marmalade's case. She glanced at her two Pokemon, doing little victory dances, and beamed.

"Looks like we've got a new friend. Why don't we call her.....Mille-feuille." Vivienne said, thinking of the delicious pastry native to her homeland that her mother would make for special occasions. Marmalade and Praline seemed to agree to the name, and the merry little band began heading back in order to heal up their new friend.
