Round 1/Oleg

[Tanya Christianson]

The time had arrived. Now was the time to put theory into practice and Tanya felt a mixture of trepidation and excitement as she stepped onto the tournament grounds. Knowing that her opponent was Oleg, Tanya took the time to prepare her pokemon. She lost pretty badly against him the last time they fought. She hopefully wasn't going to make the same mistake again.

"Looks like we meet again, huh?" Tanya called out to Oleg, crossing her arms and chewing her lip. She wasn't trying to let it show, but the stakes had an impact on how she was acting. She really wanted to do well this tournament, but she did lose to Oleg last time they fought. She couldn't lose this time.

"Come on out Daniel!" Tanya called out, picking up one of her pokeballs and opening it. Her Lopunny appeared on the battlefield, a determined look on his face as he locked onto the other trainer. "Pick your poison. I'll take the first move."

Action: Daniel has been sent out.

Oleg stretched a bit as he reached the arena, letting out a mighty and loud chuckle as Tanya mentioned them meeting again. He had kept himself in the dark for most of the tourney on who he would face, and he was pleasantly surprised by this. "We meet again, yep. Maybe this time you'll whoop MY arse. Or maybe history will repeat."

His fingers then fidgeted over to his belt, moving from pokeball to pokeball as Tanya released Daniel the Lopunny. He considered his own choices for a moment before nodding to himself as he then took one of the balls, releasing Jack the Pangoro.

Jack sat down at the ground, raising his gaze as he stared down at the bunny. THIS was his opponent? This... Bunny? Jack shook his head, grunting. 1-10X0psEMza

Daniel crossed his arms and looked confidently at the Pangoro. The look he gave to the opponent was determined and strong, ready to face the opponent. Tanya knew that she was going to have to be smart about this. That pokemon had a type advantage that didn't sit well with her. It was going to be hard for her to deal with the pokemon effectively, but she was sure she'd be able to find a way.

"Start things off with a Fake Out!" Tanya ordered, biting her lip as the battle began. Daniel jumped into action immediately, running rapidly towards the Pangoro and jumping in the air. Flying, he flipped once before landing right in front of the Pangoro and squishing his face with a harsh intensity, causing the other pokemon to flinch. As Daniel acted, Tanya looked deep in thought, thinking about how to progress with the battle.

Hm, so the game begins. Jack simply watched as the bunny leaped over to him, tilting his head at it before having his face squished, letting out a angered cry as he fell over onto his back, roaring even louder as he tried to get up. Well, this started fantastically. He could practically feel the embarrassment his pangoro had. He had never been a graceful loser, but this was simply...

Oleg closed his eyes as he shook his head. "Stay in there, Jack." He had to keep Jack in. He wanted Hoare to be ready in case there was some detonation work that needed to be done, and who knew what moves this rabbit could have.

Action: None.

Taking the time to formulate a plan, Tanya knew that she had to approach this carefully. While it was very tempting for her to just attack, she knew that trying to survive the Pangoro's attack was going to be near impossible considering he had supereffective STAB against her. While it did sorta suck that she had to resort to dealing with the pokemon like this, Tanya felt that it was the most effective way to proceed.

"Daniel, use Charm!" Tanya commanded, wondering what the people watching were thinking of her moves. On the order, Daniel took a breath before putting his right hand up to his mouth. From there, he widened his eyes and gave the Pangoro an innocent gaze, lulling the pokemon into a more complacent state. Hopefully that should be enough for the pokemon to survive for now.

Action: Daniel used Charm! Harshly lowers Pangoro's attack!

Oleg stretched a bit as Jack finally managed to stand up, slamming his fists together in anger and rage seething straight at the opponent... Only for the bloody bunny to suddenly widen his eyes and gain a face truly comparable to a kicked puppy. Jack, a pokemon of honor ofcourse, felt affected by this gaze, his will to attack wavering. Oleg tapped his chin for a moment. "Alright, use parting shot!"

Jack steeled his gaze at the bunny, his eyes glistening a bit as he seemingly hinted they would meet again before suddenly being called back to it's pokeball and being replaced by Hoare the Probopass.

Action: Used parting shot, lowering targets physical and special attack power. Switched out to Hoare the probopass.

Affected by the threat, Daniel shuddered, affected by the threat that the Pangoro gave and thus having his attack and special attack lowered. Tanya was only mildly annoyed, moreso because it meant that she had to deal with that really annoying threat later on rather than anything else. In any case though, the situation was changing and thus, Tanya had to react to it.

"Attack the Probopass with Jump Kick!" Tanya shouted, crossing her fingers that Daniel wouldn't miss. Launching himself into the air, Daneil twisted and flipped until he reached the apex of the jump, forming a kicking motion and flying towards the Probopass, intending to hit it as hard as he could when it entered the battlefield. Even with the lowered attack, it should still do some pretty meaningful damage.

Action: Daniel used Jump Kick!

Hm. So she went ahead and attacked, then? Hoare was like a defensive wall. Even if he was really weak to the type of the attack, his defenses and the bunny's reduced attack power should easily keep him in fighting shape. Hoare let out a loud hum as he was kicked, floating backwards and spinning around for a moment from the force of the attack before spinning one more time and pointing his giant nose at the bunny.

"Alright! Use Power Gem!" Hoare hummed once more, the three smaller noses around him spinning wildly as large gleaming crystals suddenly appeared in front of him, shooting at the bunny.

One of the things that she liked to catch people out on was how well Daniel was able to take attacks. While some would assume that Lopunny had puny defenses, Daniel was a demonstration of how that was far from the truth as he basically shrugged off the attack, looking to take nearly no damage from the attack that the Probopass used. It helped that Probopass weren't known for being strong attackers.

"Daniel, attack once again with Jump Kick!" Tanya commanded, knowing that she would be able to win in a battle of attrition. Daniel went through the same motions again, using his legs to propell himself in the air and attack the Probopass. Tanya felt nervous, her hand clenched as she watched her Lopunny attack.

Action: Daniel used Jump Kick!

Hm. Oleg felt like he should have done this earlier. But, it would be completely wasteful, to be honest. So, it was time to try and do the impossible. To be the one, to have the touch, to be the best that there ever was. Oh dramatics, you are so entertaining when used at right parts of the day. "Righto, Hoare, use rock slide."

Hoare spun around a few times once more, as did the rocks around him, this time summoning larger rocks than before right above the bunny, before the nose pointed down and sent said giant rocks crashing down at the bunny. He was in bad shape, but if he was lucky...

Action: Used rock slide. Will roll for accuracy and flinch.

While she had been lucky with Daniel being able to hit the opponent, she knew that her luck could only go so far. So obviously, when Rock Slide was used against them, Daniel got hit by the attack and then flinched, unable to act for the turn. Cursing silently to herself, she instead thought about how to proceed with the battle.

Daniel was still relatively strong, even if he was flinched. Hopefully he'd be able to take whatever the Probopass had to give and retaliate for the win. It was risky, but Tanya had confidence in the Lopunny. The battle was pretty intense though and Tanya was feeling the pressure increasing. She couldn't make a mistake.

Action: Daniel flinched! Unable to act for the turn!

Oleg folded his arms, this time letting out a mighty guffaw. Victory for this one battle was near, he could feel it. Sure, he still had chances to lose this, but at the very least he would gain the satisfaction of knocking out the poor bunny. "Right, Hoare, keep using rock slide! Bury the bunny!"

Hoare spun and spun and spun. The nose really loved to do that it seems, but, who was Oleg to judge? The humming emitting from Hoare got louder and louder, as if he was summoning some foreign devil to destroy everything. And then the rocks begun to fall.

Action: Used rock slide. Will roll for accuracy and flinch.

Knowing the attack, was coming, Daniel waited for the Probopass to attack, springing into action once the rocks started to fall. Using all of his energy to push his legs, he was able to propel himself out of the way of the attack. While Tanya wanted to let out a cheer, she didn't want to get complacent. It was a really bad idea to lose focus in a match like this.

"Finish off the Probopass with Jump Kick!" Tanya commanded, chewing her lip as she watched Daniel jump into action. Once again, a kick was aimed at the Probopass and it looked like Daniel was hurtling towards the pokemon with all of his strength. She prayed that the attack would hit. It was crucial for her not to miss.

Action: Daniel used Jump Kick!

Dammit. Dammit, dammit, dammit, DAMMIT! Oleg stomped his leg against the ground like a child for a moment. He was so close! So damn close. He slowly got back from his tantrum, sighing as Hoare got kicked straight in the nose and fell onto the ground, seemingly out of power to do anything anymore. He then went trough his options for pokemon before nodding to himself in a serious manner. "Righto. Waspinator."

Waspinator let out a buzz as she was released. Oleg was content with letting the bug get her experience in the field and then be squashed. Sad, but true. "Use ancient power!" Waspinator let out a cheerful buzz, the bug flying around for a moment before gathering enough energy to rip chunks of rock out from nowhere, and throwing them at the bunny.

Action: Hoare's out. Sent out Waspinator. Yanma used ancientpower. Will roll for stat raise.

Tanya pumped her fist as Daniel's last Jump Kick managed to knock out the Probopass, feeling the battle shift in her favor ever so slightly. She knew she couldn't get complacent, and thus was expecting the Pangoro to come out and finish off the Lopunny. Strangely enough, Oleg sent out a pokemon she hadn't seen him use, a Yanma. A confused look was etched onto her face as Oleg then ordered him to use a move that would barely scratch Daniel, probably hoping for the stat boosts.

"Daniel! Attack the Yanma with Return!" Tanya commanded, noticing that Oleg didn't seem to take the loss of Probopass well. It probably would've taken two attacks on Probopass's part before the Lopunny fell, but the fact that he missed Rock Slide did suck she had to admit. Then again, the move wasn't as risky as Jump Kick, which could potentially have knocked Daniel out.

Daniel started jumping around the battlefield, moving with grace and poise as he flipped and tumbled in the air, spiraling around the Yanma. At one point, as Daniel hit the ground, he changed directions and threw himself at the Yanma, the trust in his trainer reflected in the full power he put in attacking.
