Benji nervously entered the tournament grounds. The day was here, his first tournament. He was excited of course, but there was also that nervous feeling he couldn't shake. Would he do well in the first round? Or would he fail miserably? Sighing, he shook his head trying to push the thoughts away. He needed to stay focused, being negative wouldn't help anything at all. With a new mindset he approached his opponent, a girl from the Nature Dorm, and gave her a friendly smile. "Good luck." He grabbed a ball off his belt and released his first Pokemon, Willow the Zorua, onto the field. Willow knew already what was going on and stood in front of her trainer, a serious and ready look on her face.

Adriel was incredibly nervous, but also extremely excited. And it wasn't hard to see why. She had just barely started, and she was already in a tournament. Of course, that was largely her doing, as she couldn't resist signing up when she heard about the tournament in the first place. Still, for what it's worth, she was looking forward to this. She didn't even care if she won or not. Sure, it'd be nice, but she was definitely in this more for the experience than the prize. She had been doing plenty of training in preparation, so she was eager to see how Pokemon show off the results of that.
Either way, she was now face-to-face with her first (and hopefully not her last) opponent, smiling as he offered her good luck. "Thanks. You too~" She looked over the Zorua, and she was pretty sure it was a Dark-type. She remembered seeing them around back home. Either way, she considered her options. Titan wasn't an option, since it would undoubtedly have at least one Dark-type move. So it came down to her other three. After debating with herself for a bit, she nodded. Grabbing a Ball from her belt, she tossed it onto the field and out came a Doduo "Alright! Ready when you are!"

Benji gave a smirk at the girl's comment. "I've been ready," he said as he observed the Duduo. Well, Shadow Ball was out of the question since the bird was immune to it. He still had a few moves to play with and after his icy colored eyes thought for a few more moments he was ready to make a decision. "Let's do this, Willow use Feint Attack!" Willow nodded excited to finally be starting the battle and Benji smiled at her with the same feeling.
As told Willow walked forward, seemingly looking harmless as she approached the two-headed creature. She kept her pace slow and cautious as she made her way right up to the Doduo. At the last second the innocence stopped and she let out a small growl, lunging forward and aiming the attack straight at her foe. Benji knew it would hit and crossed his arms with a satisfied smile. He was interested to see how his opponent would retaliate.

Crap. Right off the bat, a fairly strong move, and one that can't miss on top of that. She didn't have any moves of this sort, regrettably, otherwise she could use them to turn the tide. Nevertheless, the Doduo took the hit, and had plenty of fight left. Adriel nodded. She was already beginning to feel good about this battle, especially since she was pretty sure the Zorua had no way of exploiting her Doduo's weakness. "Alright Schizo! Let's return the favor with a Drill Peck!" Both of the Doduo's heads nodded.
Immediately, energy started to swirl around their beaks in a drill-like motion. Then, the two-headed bird ran toward the small fox and both heads simultaneously attempted to strike at the opponent. Adriel watched on, smiling quietly. She had greatly enjoyed the last few battles she had been in, both against other trainers and wild Pokemon. This one was no exception.
------------ Summary Schizo used Drill Peck - Flying-type. Base power of 80 (boosted to 120 via STAB); accuracy of 100%. No side effects.

The Doduo hit back just as hard and Benji grimaced as his small Zorua slid back a few feet obviously in pain. She took a nice amount of damage but was still standing so that was good, he wasn't sure how many more she could take though. He wasn't ready to just give up though and said his next order right away. "Use Foul Play!" Willow let out a tiny grunt of acknowledgement and charged forward, aiming a hard hit right at the flying-type. He knew it would hit without fail, Benji just hoped it would do a nice bit of damage. Either way this was a fun battle and he let out a slight grin as he crossed his arms and waited.
Actions: Zorua used Foul Play. BP of 95 + STAB = 142.5 damage. 100% Accuracy.

Adriel watched as her attack hit, but her smile faded when she heard the other trainer's next command. Foul Play. When she was in the library studying the effects of various moves, this one in particular caught her attention. This one, depending on who it was used on, could be particularly nasty, as it turned the target's own power against them. She watched quietly as the attack hit her Doduo, and, as expected, did quite a bit of damage. Enough that the Doduo was visibly struggling to remain standing afterwards...in the end, however, the damage was too great, and he immediately collapsed.
Returning her fallen Pokemon, she nodded quietly to herself. She was still in this. That Drill Peck had done a fair share of damage, so, hopefully, this would finish it quickly. As such, she had her Magby use its best attack. "Spitfire, use Flamethrower!" The Magby nodded, inhaling deeply and shooting a powerful jet of flames from his mouth at the Zorua. Adriel's eyes widened slightly; that was her first time actually using that attack, but she liked what she saw. Especially considering how small the creature was.
---------- Summary - Schizo went down - Adriel sent out her Magby, Spitfire! - Spitfire used Flamethrower - Fire-type. Base power of 90 (boosted to 135 via STAB); accuracy of 100. Has a 10 percent chance of inflicting a burn.

Benji resisted the urge to fist pump and yell out happily when the Doduo fainted. He was able to muster it into just a wide grin and waited to see what his opponent would do next. She sent out a Magby and instantly used Flamethrower. "Shit..." he said almost silently, knowing this would hurt. The stream of fire hit Willow hard, and she practically disappeared within the flames. When the smoke cleared, just as he had expected, she was out cold.
Shaking his head he quickly returned her. "You did good," he whispered to the ball as he replaced it with another. "You can finish this Jade!" He said confidently as he released his Tyrunt onto the field. She looked shy as usual, wanting to probably run over and hide behind him but hesitated. "Use Stone Edge on that Magby!" She seemed uncertain but nodded, knowing she had to fight and couldn't just cower. She quickly ran over to the fire-type, her arm becoming encased with sharp stones. She brought it down as hard as she could at her opponent, this could finish things.
Action: Zorua fainted. Brought out Tyrunt. Tyrunt used Stone Edge. BP of 100 + STAB + Magby's Weakness = 300 damage.
1-8 it hits. 9-10 it misses!

Adriel smiled when she saw the Zorua go down. It now one-for-one. However, her victory was short-lived, as the opponent proceeded to send out a Tyrunt. Being both a Rock and a Dragon-type, her Magby was pretty much the worst Pokemon she could use against this creature. Her initial instinct was to switch to her Seel, but then she remembered that she was only allowed two Pokemon. Then, she watched as the Tyrunt proceeded to use a Stone Edge, and that was it. The battle was pretty much over...or not. As it turned out the attack had missed. Adriel couldn't believe her luck, but she definitely wasn't complaining either.
Now then, she had a choice to make. Play defensively and hope her luck holds out, or go on the offensive and pray it's enough. Either way is a gamble, since her opponent's Pokemon outmatched hers in both offense and defense. In the end, she decided to try her luck. "Spitfire, use Confuse Ray!" The Magby nodded, his eyes flashing as a thin beam of light is fired at the Tyrunt. This would leave its thoughts muddled...and, with luck, it would be just enough for her to be able to win this battle. Otherwise, her chances of winning were fairly dim.
------------- Summary Spitfire used Confuse Ray - Ghost-type; accuracy of 100%. Confuses the opponent.

Benji had his arms crossed, and a smug grin on his face since he pretty much was sure the battle was over. Yet to his surprise the Magby by some miracle dodged the attack! Jade totally missed, landing on the ground and looking around as shocked as Benji was. The trainer had expected Adriel to use an offensive attack but instead used Confuse Ray...which depending on his luck could be good or bad.
Jade was instantly confused, and started wobbling around the arena, looking like she wasn't quite sure what was going on. He'd just have to hope she could get her head together and win this. "Jade, use Stone Edge again!" She nodded, her eyes a bit dizzy looking as she tried to find the Magby. Again sharp stones wrapped around her claws and she ran towards her foe, trying to aim yet another hit. Either it would hit and they would perhaps win. Or she would get hurt instead in confusion. He grimaced, looking away and just waiting to hear if it hit or not.

Welp, so much for luck being on her side. She had hoped the confusion would stall the opponent just enough for her to get in a couple Cross Chops, since she was reasonably sure that, in spite of its effectiveness, one wouldn't have been enough. Maybe it would have been better to just go on the offensive. Either way, the Magby was instantly taken down by the Stone Edge, which probably came to the surprise of no one. Letting out a defeated sigh, Adriel returned her Magby. She's be lying if she wasn't disappointed about losing, especially since it was only the first round of a tournament.
But, all in all, she still had fun, so she couldn't even pretend to be all that upset about it. Disappointed the loss? Sure. But not mad or saddened by it. "Damn...guess that's it for me. Great battle, though. Good luck in the rest of the tournament~" With that, gave Benji a friendly wave as she turned and headed out of the arena. Her first order of business were to get Spitfire and Schizo healed up. Then it was time for more training. If they ever hold another tournament, she'll definitely make sure that she's ready for it.

Since his head was still turned all he heard was a hard hit and then something falling to the ground. He half expected Jade to have hurt herself in confusion and be laying dazed on the ground. Yet to his genuine surprise Jade was still standing and instead the Magby had fainted! He couldn't help but run over and scoop up the still confused Tyrunt into his arms. She was a bit heavy but he didn't mind as he smiled widely and spun around a few times. "You did great in your first battle Jade!" He said happily, and quickly returned her to her ball so she could recover.
His arrogant attitude had completely vanished, he was actually quite a nice person...just battles made him a bit smug at times. Turning to Adriel he bowed respectfully with a warm friendly smile. "It was a great battle indeed, luck was just more on my side today. Thank you, hopefully we meet again in the next tournament. I'd love a rematch." He waved back at her as she left and just stayed in the stadium a bit longer to soak up everything. He had won his first tournament match ever and it felt amazing. He wasn't sure how he'd do in the rest of the tournament but at least he had this to be proud of. After a few minutes of just looking around he let out a contended sigh and left to take a deserved rest in the dorms.
