Meili took a deep breathe and looked at the pokeballs attached to her belt. This beginners tournament is going to prove her place here. If she can get first, then that means her time here wasn't a complete waste of time. Meili saw the name of her opponent. In all honesty, Meili did not recognize who this Alice is...she did know one thing though. She is a stepping stone.
"Let us begin." Meili threw out her first pick. Saan the Diglett came out of the pokeball, wigging his blue nose happily as he was unleashed. The basics of battle were set. It is common practice to send out a fast Pokemon out first. While Ju is faster, Saan himself is no slouch plus Saan has sucker punch if Alice gets any ideas sending out a flying Pokemon. Action: Sending out Saan.

Stepping into the tournament grounds, she felt a sense of nervousness, but she also felt excitement from participating in her first tournament. And her Pokemon would get their first battle, but there was also a certain fear that Dark types would actually defeat them like it was nothing. And her opponent was a Lava Dormer who had been in her PE class the other day. She did not know her name though the scoreboard had said that her opponent was Meili. And her opponent had sent out a Diglett which was a Ground type, but she had known that it can learn some deadly moves too if she was not careful. "Come, Morticia." She sent out her Gastly where the gassy ghost laughed upon being sent out and she knew that the ghost was also a fast Pokemon to contend with. And besides, the Gastly line had been known for their usage of special moves that could easily wipe out anything that didn't resist its type. She only hoped that Morticia could make it out alive in this round.
Action: Sent out Morticia.

Her opponent with the red streak in the mass of black hair that she has, sent out a Pokemon familiar to Meili, a Gastly. It seems luck was falling into Meili's hands for once. True, this Pokemon was effectively immune to three out of four of Saan's current movepool. Meili adjusted her hat, a smile across her face.
"Let's begin! Saan use Sucker Punch!!" The Diglett sunk into the ground for a moment and came out with a mound of dirt and it was launched over at the Gastly at an incredible speed. Being a dark type move, this should deal a decent amount of damage on the Gastly. Action: Saan used Sucker Punch!

As soon as the battle started, the shiny Diglett had hit Morticia with a Sucker Punch which caused the gassy ghost to grimace as pain had overtaken her. Indeed, it was a super effective move and Morticia drifted slowly down into the ground, unconscious for most of the fight."Get some rest, Morticia. You did a great job. Flynn, you're up." She recalled her Gastly and sent out her Larvesta where he awaited his trainer's orders. "Flynn, use Double-Edge!" The moth larvae charged at the shiny Diglett and tackled it at full force, afterwards in which he suffered pain from the recoil damage. Well, the gassy ghost didn't survive this fight, but she did her best anyway. She could only hope that he could avenge his fallen friend and actually damage this shiny Diglett for once. Maybe it wasn't the best move to send out something that a Pokemon could easily oneshot it for their convenience.
Action: Morticia fainted. Sent out Flynn the Larvesta. Flynn used Double-Edge.

Suffice to say, the speedy mound of dirt made successful contact with the Gastly. In a shocking moment of satisfaction for Meili, she managed to one shot it! She almost wanted to dive down and hug Saan but she remembered how difficult with that be what with Saan's insistence on keeping a mound of dirt clung to himself at all times.
"Get some rest, Morticia. You did a great job. Flynn, you're up."Alice returned her Gastly and then sent out a type of larvae bug Pokemon. Meili quickly took out her Pokedex which identified that it was a Larvesta and a fire/bug type Pokemon that leaned toward physical attacks. "Flynn, use Double-Edge!" Suffice to say, karma kind of hurts. The bug slammed into Saan, Meili wincing in response. Saan, however, did not even wince, it was unconscious the moment the bug made contact.
"Saan, return!" Meili's Academyball opened to recontain the Diglett and she reattached it to her belt. She then detached Ci's Pokeball. "Go! Ci!!" Meili sent out her second starter, her Horsea. "Use Brine!" Double-edge was an attack that took off health from the user. Brine should make the experience much more painful if that was the case. Action: Saan fainted. Ci was sent out and used Brine!

Flynn's attack managed to make the shiny Diglett faint which was the good news. The bad thing was that a blue seahorse was sent out and that meant a Water type was trouble. And Brine managed to wash Flynn which managed to make him cringe in pain. And that lead to him being unconscious for the whole fight. "Good job. Get some rest." She recalled the moth larvae inside of his Pokeball and that was it. The battle was over and two of her Pokemon had lost. It was obvious that her opponent had won the battle, but there would be more practice battles down the road. Those two would have to get stronger somehow as she suddenly felt some regret that she didn't use Misdeavus for this battle, but that would've been a clear advantage otherwise. The battle had been an unlucky one for the both of them, but they did learn something new.
Action: Flynn fainted. Meili is the victor.

Meili blinked for a moment. Did...did she just win? Meili honestly didn't know what to feel now that victory has been obtained for her. She tried to her smile and excitement but she can't. She quickly bowed, mostly because it was just manners and it was to hide her excitement before quickly taking out Ci's pokeball and opening it up to return it.
"Thank you for the match!" Meili said quickly before turning around and trying to hide her excitement. She should contain it though. It wouldn't do her any good now to have an inflated ego as she enters round two of this tournament.

"You're welcome. You did good and I'm sure you'll have more victories ahead." Well, she didn't care if she had lost the battle. All that mattered was that this had made her opponent happy that she won something. Flynn had done a good job and Morticia did too even though she had not began to attack once the Sucker Punch had hit. However, there was still the second round of the tournament and hopefully, her opponent would have some battles down the road. She could cheer on the sidelines for the other people and she wasn't sure if the others had finished their battles yet, but she would have to train harder for her to win next time at another tournament. With a wave of good-bye, she walked out of the arena, satisfied that her Pokemon tried their hardest despite those losses.
